700 miles for a New Mexico Antelope

Thats a heck of a goat Terry! Did my former LRF come into play? Lets get some landowner tags next year!
  2. firstcoueswas80

    Wow!

Isn't "nogales north" 3-0 with an asswhoopin handed to a top 25 school and a 56-0 win tonight, or am i missing something?

Who's gonna be the first to post their elk???

I've already got a week off annual leave scheduled at work my dad and I are heading out next Friday for a week in the woods chasing elk with a stick in string!

Dear G and F: Some food for thought.....

Agree with this. A good friend and fellow member rooted his bicep muscle from his arm this year and can not hunt hunt with a Cross bow for the same reason.

    Colorado high country buck!

That is VERY cool! One of these trips has been on the top of my list for years... The losing the weight and getting in shape (and I wont do it solo) has been the down fall! VERY neat experience and although he may not be the largest buck in the high mountains he is one helll of a trophy! You should be proud, Tim as that is very very cool!

Was wondering the same thing, Kevin!

Need to help with my rifle!

    A. Buy a Remington as those Wetherby actions come apart/give fits all the time. B. Take it to a Smith and make sure you have a back up gun you trust with you. i have several available if you like.

    U of A Football

The problem (history has shown) is that U of A plays much better with little/no expectations. When they are ranked and NOT the underdog they seem to think other teams should fold to them and then their heads swell and they end up losing.

    270 WSM

On a side note though, I have been much more impressed and pleased with my .257 wby then I was with my 270 wsm. They are roughly ballistic twins out past 300 yards but it has served me mo' betta'.

    270 WSM

I really liked mine. It shot 140 accubonds very well, pushed by a heavy dose of H4831sc. Killed a couple of Coues deer with it, one I was not to impressed with, the other did well.

Hunting Technology. How much is enough?

I once had this gizmo that offered to take my pack or the deer... Sucker! He took the pack and I took the deer, even on a jacked up ankle I got the better end of the deal!

    New to Dove Hunting

Honestly, your best bet is to set up near a field, or near a water hole. Make sure you're legal and that you have enough ammo! That is always my issue.

Hunting Technology. How much is enough?

Maybe that time of the month But it is still my duty to turn hunters away from the dark side of the force. and........Obama. Thought that was the same thing? And, not to be rude, and in all due respect, its not your job. Hunters (most) are full grown adults capable of making their own decisions on what they choose to use or not to use on their hunt as long as it is within the letter of the law. Dont like it, dont use it. It truly is that simple. I dont like ballistic tips for big game, so I dont use them!

    .300 Win Mag

I'll tell you this one last time, since you dont seem to get it otherwise. Show me where/what from I owe you $50 and a $75 check will be in the mail the next day (you know, for your pain and suffering). Other than that, STFU.

Hunting Technology. How much is enough?

My brother has two big game animals under his belt. His hunts have been as follows: walk. watch big brother find the animals. shoot big animals. take pictures watch/help big brother gut animals. watch big brother (and dad at times) pack/load animals. watch big brother skin animals. I dont really see that ruined by gizmo's. truthfully, I think your taking this waaayyyyy too personal and are assuming it will have a much larger impact than it really will.

    30A Antelope

Very respectable buck, he will look great on the wall!

    .300 Win Mag

Me, personally I'd go for something in the 165-168 grain area. I used a 168 TTSX in Africa and it worked amazingly well. That way you get high BC's mixed with a slightly higher muzzle velocity. What is/are your intended target(s)?

    Positive Game and Fish encounter

    A. Very nice on the antelope... Lets see it! B. See any elk? My dad has a hunt up there next week!

Hunting Technology. How much is enough?

Brent, these are the times dude! We are a world reliant on technology and it is bound to spill over in to many different areas, hunting included. The fact is, hunting is a billion dollar industry and everyone wants their piece of the pie. That's their right, so why try and stop them? In your words, none of use should use range finders, or even digital cameras since those are all "electronic technology", is it not? (Pot? Kettle?) Granted, I think thermal imaging is a little far in the hunting industry (and I would never pay to use it) but I am not for a second going to bad mouth it or speak against those who use it. To me, it is like saying that AR-15's have a place in the world, so long as they are not automatic, do not use 30 round mags etc. The anti's (and our fearless leader) are so anxious to take any and all firearms and firearms related rights that we, as hunters need to welcome and praise any and all technology or item that offers us an edge instead of bad mouthing it... All you have to do is simply NOT buy it. The hunting world will NEVER be "fair", someone will always hire a guide, or someone will always have 10+ friends/family etc on the hills glassing for them, someone will always use game cameras, etc. My opinion bring on the thermal imaging, make it legal, make it for sale and to those who want it/need it... Use it! etc. I wont use it as I don't see it fitting into my arsenal (or my budget), but I will not look down upon someone who uses them.
