    Talk me out of this

Times have changed, for my backpack hunting its been a REM mod 7 7-08 with a small 3-9 scope. More recently I have hunted with a REM 700 action in a carbon fiber stock with 24 inch skinny Lilja in 270 win and the smaller Swarovski 3-9 scope. The REM 700 is a light action and another thought is 280AI with a quality 22 inch barrel (not the skinniest or CF barrel) in a CF stock with a 1 inch scope up to 15 power.
  2. I did two deployments to Misawa Japan flying Navy P3Cs, Misawa was hands down the best Air Base short of maybe a few in Western Europe. ** FLY NAVY land AF **

4.5 million people in maricopa county

It's not nuthin, but then again its time to strategerize the best methods for opening up businesses. Distancing, masks and hand cleanliness the watch words. Also how to keep the older & vulnerable free from exposure.

    22 LR build suggestions

Last two years I have been competing in small bore silhouette, NRL22 matches, 22 benchrest and assundry other 22 matches. I love my KIDD 10/22's but its a semi. I have two CZ 455's and one shoots a bit better than the other. When its all said and done the Tikka T1X is your best bet, consistently seen them to be very accurate and reasonably priced.

    Effects of the virus scare?

Just listen to NPR Public Radio. I listened to a segment that blamed minority Corona deaths on Americas "embedded racism" so don't get snarky its a continuation of the left/progressive theme that we are all racist, which is bull and I for one am fed up with it.

Newbie Here - Need Any Unit 21 AZ Elk Advice

Looking at the unit map I can tell you what I would start looking at. Having gone after Elk in AZ and UT I would look for them in the Juniper /grassy zones and higher. Figure out where the highest N&E facing terrain is within the unit. At that time of year my guess is any resident Elk will be where they can get cool mid day (wooded NE slopes) and are close to feed and water. Good luck.

    Confused

Your variation in the length to ogive looks normal and I have found that COAL does vary some, this was my experience loading 270W with 140 Bergers.

Unit 3A late Bull Elk hunt

Are you new to AZ hunting? Have you ever hunted Elk before? Keep in mind some Elk spend their lives in Juniper vegetation zone. Like all hunting you look for cover, feed and water. An effective part of scouting is boots on the ground, bushwhacking for sign gives you a better feel for how well used an area is. Good luck.
  14. Over the last couple of years I have experienced two ranchers locking access to USFS land. Locks were put on gates where the access road crossed private property, these were USFS roads and were the only access point to public lands. According to the AZGF access coordinator in that district it is legal to deny access to public lands. One rancher got peeved with the state and feds and in a fit of frustration decided to block access. The other "rancher" is a super wealthy individual who happens to own "The Outdoor Channel" and locked his gate for no other reason than he could.
  15. Gimme a break, that is "Confirmed cases" which means people sick enough to get the test. There are way more that didi not get that sick or had little to no symptoms, so way more cases than "confirmed cases". I have seen charts that say 80% little to no symptoms.

    Sell or keep

I grew up with a camp kitchen box similar to that but a bit smaller. It looks a little roughed up on the top and table. If you could easily reinforce I say go for it. Heck how much you going to get for it anyway? My advice is he should have you go for it, there is no downside.

    Holdovers versus Come-Ups.

    Holdovers versus Come-Ups.

With a zeroed rifle and a Ballistic App with current ambient conditions dial ups are dead on. Hold over marks essentially arbitrary because no one hold over reticle can exactly match your ammo and current density altitude. A good ballistic app like Strelok Pro lets you reference what hold over should like like with your scope and ammo. Still dial up is pretty easy and precise. For both types you can make a quick easy reference card out to 450 yards after that its better to check the ballistic app before the shot.
