I have been wondering the same thing this entire time…

Finally got around to completing my elk antler mount from my first bull back in 2019. I did it myself and feel pretty happy with it, especially since it was my first crack at on. Currently hanging up in my in-laws cabin

That’s awesome! I love the star and stripes engraved on there. I’ll need to hit him up next time I need another plaque for a mount. And I did not make the plaque myself—I bought it online through a carpentry shop someone recommended to me

My buddy and I have been going back and forth on doing a DIY OTC hunt in January in one of the southern units. Still not entirely sure if we’ll get the chance to do it (I got military duty early in the month and am running the PF Changs in the middle of the month), but after October’s rifle hunt I’ve had a hard time getting Coues out of my head haha. It would be my first archery hunt for deer and am really conflicted on how to best approach it. Just wondering what you guys do and what seems to be the better approach: sitting water or spot and stalk? I appreciate any advice from you seasoned guys!

It seems like based on what people are saying (along with our own preference) we will probably stick with glassing. At least for the first day or two. If we aren’t turning anything up maybe some can choose to sit water and give that a go. But it’s hard sitting for hours and not moving too much haha
