Arizona Elk Society Banquet Mar. 23, 2013
AZbowhntr replied to rthrbhntng's topic in Conservation Group Events
I will take a seat if there is still one available. Bill, is one of your seats for Hector? Because I imagine he will want one also. And I bet I can get a couple other people. Amanda, we may be able to fill another table. -
I know this should be in the fishing forum but considering I have never been there myself I figured I might get a better response here. I am going to Oahu in a couple weeks for a week long vacation with several other people for a wedding. About 6 of us are going to do an all day fishing charter. My question is, has anyone ever gone on a charter over there and who did you use and how was the experience? We are looking at booking with a charter call Whipsaw. Don't know anything about them but we need to book soon so we are kind of taking a chance. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Great archery buck. There are guys out there that could hit a baseball sized target at a long ways every time. With the bows out there now that is a big kill zone. I would like to know if it was shot off the back of the horse. That would be cool.

I love that first picture. To bad his right side didn't match the left. Nice buck though.

Nice write up Phil. It was definitely a tougher hunt than last year. We decided to go a week earlier this year and it may have had something to do with the lack of bigger bucks since there was very little rutting until the very last day or so. We still passed up a lot of bucks that we would have shot on a hunt here in the states. I even had my rifle out of the pack once before deciding to hold off and wait. I don't have any regrets and had a great time. And we hunted hard for the whole week. I made a comment to Chef the other day about not seeing the camp during the day. We got there late at night and was up and gone hunting before light every day and back after dark every night. And we left to come home early the day after the hunt. Great times and memories for sure.

Dang, I wish I would have known the price. I would have bought it it earlier. Let me know if Casey doesn't end up bying it and I will.

Price? Pictures?

I don't think there is a doubt if it is whitetail or not. I think the doubt is if it is eastern or coues.

San Carlos Tag Filled Part 2

Great buck Christian. We need to talk one of these days. I still haven't told you the story about our hunt down south. Congrats on a super buck. -
I am pretty sure that I have read that the hybrids lose the ability to popo or stot. I think it was in the article here on the site that someone wrote about hybrids and posted a link to not too long ago. I agree with whoever it was that said the first two pictures look muley and the last one coues. I have heard that there are coues deer up around Usery Pass. So it could be true.

Cool droptine. Great looking buck.

Those are three awesome bucks. Congrats and great pictures and video.

I used to bank with B of A until we decided to pay all our credit cards off and they instantly dropped our credit limits to $1000. And we have excellent credit. I had banked with them for over 20 years before that.

I have had Accuracy Speaks do two muzzle breaks for me so far. Both stainless steel and both times they have turned out incredible. They are out at Rio Salado shooting range. -
Wow, talk about hanging in there. That is a great buck. Congratulations

Love the sunset picture. That is a great idea. There are some great bucks there.

December 2012 AZ Coues Hunt.
AZbowhntr replied to cramerhunts's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Phil, great writeup and pictures. Just think, less than two weeks and we will be at it again. And not a bad mistake buck. Congrats -
The biggest buck I saw last year in Mexico was broken. I had the safety off and was ready to shoot him at less than 150 yds when he turned his head and showed me his broken main beam. With that said, that was the only broken buck that I can remember seeing besides a buck I shot that did a back flip and landed in a rock pile. We were hunting several hours east of Hermisillo.

That bull is smart. That will almost guarantee him another year to live. I saw one just like him a couple years ago.

4 days + 228 deer = 0 bucks!
AZbowhntr replied to Joe Kauffman's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
There were seven of us in 36B for the early Dec hunt a couple weeks ago and it was the same way. Between all of us I am sure that we saw well over 200 does and fawns. But we did see 4 bucks total with a couple of them nice. The bucks were there, they were just harder to find. -
Winchester 88 .308 Pre-64 Lever Action with Scope
AZbowhntr replied to gmcbob's topic in Classified Ads
Well it looks like almost everyone has this rifle. I also have one that my dad passed down to me. Great shooting rifles. Killed a couple bucks with it when I was younger. Hope someone picks it up. -
We spent hours cleaning our capes last year and got to the border and they didn't even look at them. They had so many ticks on them when we shot them that I don't think we could have ever got them all. We were just hoping that it went smooth and we got lucky. You just never know what you are going to get at the border.
-
Allen, congrats on another successful hunt. And to Travis also. You both got great bucks. Who knows, maybe you can get the fourpete and draw the tag next year again.

Well I have been waiting for Ernesto to post some pics of his buck so that he could show off his buck before I posted. I was lucky enough to get to go down with Ernesto and one of his friends from there in Yuma on an incredible hunt of a lifetime. I don't think I have ever experienced anything quite like it before. I have hunted several states for deer and elk but nothing that compared to this. All the way from the food to seeing 40 to 50 deer a day with more than half being bucks. Unfortunately we missed the peak of the rut but did get to see some nice bucks chasing does around and acting stupid. I was lucky enough to shoot a great buck on the trip, which ended up being the baby of the bunch but still scored 108+. Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me when I shot my buck. But I was able to get some pictures later on. Hope you enjoy. Here is a little of what the country looked like. Best Coues country I think I have ever hunted or seen. We saw turkey, coati mundi's, coyotes and even a diamond back rattle snake. Here are a few turkeys. Here is a picture of the area we hung out for a little bit every night. We left in the dark and showed back up in the dark most days. Here is a picture of an absolute hog. I had him in the scope at 140 yds before he turned his head and showed off his left side that was broken just past the G2. I wish he showed up better but the branches in the background make it hard to tell his true size. Here is a picture of my buck in my left hand. The other buck was a warm up. This was my guide Israel. Boy could he hike, and hike, and hike. Never saw him breath hard. Here are a couple pictures of all of us with our bucks and Temo. Everyone in camp was awesome and had a good time together. And last but not least, here is one of Randy's buck.
