Yeah, my dad was a horse farrier when he was younger and has a scar on his stomach from getting kicked. I can't even imagine what this thing could have done. That is a great outcome though. That moose was just about beat.

Ernesto here on the site is the man when it comes to hunting Mexico. He has some great connections. Send him a PM. I know he is going down this weekend to hunt so he may take a bit to get back to you.

I have seen a few nice bucks in there the last couple years. Never had a tag though. Usually quail hunting. Did call in a buck that was at least 28" wide while coyote calling last year.

Looks like a fun time. Amanda, I wish I knew you were there. I was down scouting and drove right by there and almost stopped. I would have for sure if I had known. It sounds like a lot of the kids did pretty well.

Friends, Family and Good Times

Christian, looks like a great time. There are some great bucks there. Give me a call when you get a chance. -
Ok I will ask the question. Why were you outside your blind at 9am? Just curious.

The cows that didn't get bred on the first go around have cycled. I shot my archery bull last year in Nov and he was bugling, chasing about 8 cows and was distracted raking a tree when I put my first arrow through him at 15 yds broadside. Enjoy the action and take advantage of it.

New Rifle: Tikka T3, Weatherby Vanguard S2, or Savage 11
AZbowhntr replied to kazpilot25's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I am going to have to agree with just about everyone else. I recently bought a T3 in 270 WSM and absolutely love it. It is smooth as can be. I had a muzzle brake installed as soon as I bought it. I could shoot it all day long. In fact my daughter is going to shoot it on her hunt coming up in December. -
Apparently what you need is the hawk that Sam from a couple posts down has in his back yard. That will take care of them.

Cool pictures. I got to watch a hawk kill a pigeon once while I was doing a home inspection. I stopped and got my binoculars out of the truck to watch for about 10 min. It was pretty cool. It was like the hawk was kneading dough with his talons.

2012 archery bull hunt, 17 bonus points for a great hunt
AZbowhntr replied to DCMHunter's topic in Elk Hunting
Congrats on the great bulls. I enjoyed the story(s). Hopefully the next tags don't take so long. It looks like you had quit the setup for camp. -
Congrats to your daughter. My daughter has her first hunt this year. I hope she does as well as yours.

This is one contest I want nothing to do with. I have been there before and it isn't fun. I really like the duct tape idea.
-
I have been there done that. Except my rifle was in the truck about 25 yds away. If you want a funny read look up my story from a few years ago. Congrats on the buck by the way.

Great buck and eye guards. That sounds like a heck of a shot.

The deer stopper works very well on mule deer. I have called several does in to within 10'. I have never tried it on coues deer though. I think it could work really well on the late hunts.

Great buck. I am sitting in the airport in Idaho Falls right now waiting for a flight back to AZ. I was trying to work in a couple days hunting but it didn't work out. Idaho is one of the last states that you can buy a tag and hunt most of the state and shoot a great buck. Congrats

Alpen 15-45x65 spotting scope kit for sale
AZbowhntr replied to arizonaelitefreak's topic in Classified Ads
I have the same spotting scope and it is well worth the asking price. I mainly use mine at the gun range but is has definitely paid for its self. And it doesn't take up much room. Good luck selling it. -
Seating lug marks on reloads
AZbowhntr replied to AZbowhntr's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
There were a couple of you that have had the same problem so I thought I would post and let you know what ended up correcting the problem. I called RCBS and they send me a new seating lug and they polished it before sending it at no charge. It worked with no problems. So it sounds like a good cleaning and polishing would work. Otherwise I couldn't tell any difference from the original one and the new one. Hope this helps. -
It is all about what you are willing to go home with (or without) to me. Here is a picture of the bull I shot last year on the late archery hunt. We hunted for 7 days before I shot him. He wasn't the biggest that we saw but he was the biggest that we could get to. I personally don't have a problem going home empty handed on most of the hunts here in AZ. Now if I am in another state or somewhere else than there might be a little more pressure to bring something home.

Phil, I have been looking forward to the story on this bull. And pictures on the phone just don't cut it. Incredible bull! It was well deserved. Now it's time to start thinking about Mexico coues deer in January. Congrats

Seating lug marks on reloads
AZbowhntr replied to AZbowhntr's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
That makes sense. I went to Sportsmans yesterday to buy a new stem and they don't carry anything like that at all. I tried calling RCBS today and missed them by 5 minutes. They close at 3:30 and I called at 3:35. Thanks for the replies. -
You the man Ernesto! Are these pictures Temo took? These pictures get the blood pumping.
-
Wow, that is impressive. Congrats to your dad.

I have the same setup as luvdemcoues does. I just picked it up recently and haven't shot it yet. I am shooting the same bullet to. As long as the rifle likes them.
