This last year I was doing a home inspection on a condo in Mesa and the building next to the one I was inspecting had about a 100 pigeons on the roof. Well all of a sudden they all took off at once. Sounded like a bomb going off so I am looking around to see what caused it. In swoops a hawk and snatches one right out of the air. The pigeon was actually bigger than the hawk was. It took the hawk about 10 minutes to finally kill it. Reminded me of a baker kneading dough but with talons instead.

Great footage. The slomo at the end was cool. I shot one at 3 yds once that was charging. It is a rush.

I don't know how well either coues deer or mule deer would do in a situation like that. Although I know they have mule deer for breeding in Mexico that are fenced. It would be cool though.

Awesome dogs. I grew up on a farm in Idaho and that is all we had. Best dogs I have ever seen. I'm sure you won't have any problems with the last two.

Very nice. They definately make it nice when the weather gets bad. Hector and I had mine in Colorado a few years ago during a snow storm and it made a huge difference. Heater didn't turn off at all one night. But we were warm. It was good to see you also.

A buddy and I went out yesterday morning for a few hours to see if we could call something in. The Foxpro did it's job and I called in two Bobcats on the very first call. We were going to take both of them at the same time and got all set up. My buddy counted to three and I shot the one and he didn't shoot at all. He forgot to take the safety off. Needless to say he missed the running shot about 5 seconds later. Luckily I didn't. He should make a very nice rug type mount. I already have one at the taxidermist being done in at life size. \

Mexico 2011-12 Season Experiences...
AZbowhntr replied to TAM's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
Well I am by no means an expert on hunting coues deer in Mexico but we were there the last week of January and we had spotty rutting activity. Most of the bucks chasing does were in the 80" range. It seemed that the bigger bucks were hanging tight waiting for it to heat up. We pretty much decided that we would rather go down the first week of January and catch the bucks still in their bachelor herds. That way when you find a buck you know there are going to be several others around. Only one out of the three of us shot a buck with does. -
If anyone has an extra piece of driftwood that they have laying around or that they would be willing to sell I am looking for one. I am having a full body mount done on a bobcat that I shot this last year and need something for it to lay on. Probably about 3' long and maybe 6" in diameter. Thanks

I also posted this in the taxidermy forum but I am looking for a piece of driftwood that I can have a bobcat mount done on. I am looking for about 3' long and 6" in diameter. Thanks

My VERY COOL buck from Mexico
AZbowhntr replied to Ernesto C's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
Randy, welcome to CWT. That is a heck of a picture of your buck. I posted one in my thread from when we got back to the truck but nothing compared to yours. It was an awesome time we had and I am looking forward to next year. -
Phil, we were seeing at least 40 to 50 deer a day. We didn't catch the rut like we hoped to have but there was still some bucks chasing does. Mostly 80 to 90" bucks. The first morning of the hunt I hadn't gone 300 yds from the ranch house before seeing an 80" buck. I think if we would have caught the rut just right or if we were there earlier in the year when the bucks were still in their bachelor groups we would have seen some bigger bucks. I don't know for sure what the big buck would have scored if he wasn't broke but he was in another class from what we shot. Temo has great plans for the ranch and I feel it is only going to get better. We did see quite a bit of lion sign but didn't see any. We had a fox pro with us and were hoping to do some calling if we killed soon enough but it didn't work out that way.

Ernesto, congrats on a heck of a buck. I had an incredible time down there and wouldn't hesitate to hunt with you and Randy again. I am looking forward to next year and all of us stepping it up a notch. -
Phil, congrats on a great hunt. It sounds like it was an awesome time as usual. Love all the pictures and videos.

I feel for you. It looks like they missed the mark on the last picture. Hope you get healed up soon and listen to the advise to do what the therapist says.

That is awesome. Those are some great pictures too.

That is a great buck. How is everyone else doing so far? Are you guys seeing many bucks.

I am heading down for my hunt in just over a week and if my wife sees this thread I am holding all of you responsible.

January 2012... You can't kill all year long if you don't start the first day!

Gino, congrats on an awesome buck. It was a pleasure meeting you at during my elk hunt in November. -
Slow down. No matter how slow you think you are slow down even more. That goes for everything, glassing and stalking. There is a ton to learn but just get out and practice.
-
That is another excellent buck. I really like the fact that you said to TAM that it should be better in a couple weeks. I am heading down on the 22nd for a week and I am getting really excited. Congrats on the great bucks so far.

I have it in the bed of my truck. It came with it when I bought the truck but I love it. It is amazing how tough it is. It has a texture so that things don't slide around like they do with the plastic ones but it isn't so abrasive that it tears your skin off if it rubs against it. I can't compare the two though because I haven't had the Line-x bed liner.

It's hard to beat the new addition pictures. I remember the days vaguely. Just enjoy them while they last. Because they grow up and wreck your car when they turn 16 (speaking from recent experience). My highlight would have to be stalking my late season archery bull and actually closing the deal at 15 yds without him having a clue I was even in the same country. Never actually thought it would pan out. The moment before I shot the bull is something I will remember for the rest of my life.

Three weeks from tomorrow. I am starting to get excited and anxious. I am still nursing a couple banged up knees from my elk hunt. Several details to get straightened out still but it is going to be a great time. Plus meet some new guys. Like Phil said no phones and email. Just think about nothing but big bucks for a week. Good luck to everyone else heading down.

This is an interesting question. There are patents on this technology. I was just talking to someone that thought of this and went to some of the big companies trying to market it with no luck. Anyway they were trying to get the patents and find out that one of the companies that they had just tried to market to had filed for a patent on the same technology after he had talked to them. Pretty low if you ask me.

Congrats to Trevor on a bull of a lifetime. Is that a couple Jones brothers in the last picture on the left? Their brother used to live down the road from me.
