WTB Tom Turkey for my 2 lonely hens

If your last name is Owens' I guess you could come shoot it and drag it to your area and take some pictures, get a new bow, get published, and become....infamous? But then, why pay for the tag?

    New Job Opening!

I don't believe that for a minute. Plus, we got lucky. Kids ultimately decide who or what they are going to do. But my wife laid out the plan, and we did spend a lot of time on each child. Each one has a different personality. My second daughter and my caboose son tested my patience. We had a few come to Jesus meetings where they came close to meeting Jesus! I love them very much but I almost wanted to love them to death! I even asked my wife once if we could but my second daughter back where we got her from? Her sophomore year in highschool she fought us at every turn. Then we let her join the new robotics club beginning of her Senior year and poof! A new child was born. She's been great ever since. Go figure? For the boy, I figured out he needed more one on one campout time. I went on scout outings and then had to step in as Scoutmaster when nobody else would do it. Poof! New son.

DCS, does yours have cruise control and the temp/oil pressure gauges, or just idiot lights?

    Toyota 4x4

Yes, I believe 1986 was the first year of the independent front suspension. Straight axel was stronger but the independent does give a nicer ride. Turbos were available in 86 and 87 only, I believe. In 88 they came out with the 6cyl. My 87 is the 22RE Turbo. They stopped the 22R series with the Tacoma in 1995, if I remember correctly. Tough little engine. Lots made. Memories.

    New Job Opening!

Like all things, 20% Excell, 80% fill the square or fail. Their District is known as a better one. I dealt/am dealing with one that used to be better but I feel has degraded. Finding the right programs for your kids and keeping them on track is almost a full-time job. Cannot leave it up to the schools/educators, parents have to also be very involved and still hope (and pray?). One of the most important time investments we need to make as parents. We have been very lucky so far, and I mostly "blame" my wife for that! But it is a team "sport". Proof- Oldest daughter - senior year for Civil Engineering. Graduated highschool with honors. Second daughter- junior year Electrical/ Computer Engineering. Graduated highschool barely turning 17. Was on robotics team that went to nationals. Has started her own "niche" custom keyboard company. Third daughter - just graduated in the top 20 (14th) in her class of 687 kids and in the International Baccalaureate program, barely turning 17. Accepted into the Electrical/Computer Engineering program at the same private university her sister's are attending. This daughter chose to excell, we were just the support team. Caboose boy - starting sophomore year in highschool one year ahead at 14. Finishing his Eagle Scout Requirements - still challenging at times! Best investments of my life! Biggest time sinks as well, but well worth it! Parents HAVE to be totally involved.
  8. Sorry for your health situation. Best wishes and prayers.

FYI, on the 22R series engines change the timing chain guide so the timing chain doesn't wear a hole in a water jacket about every 100k miles. The original timing chain guides are a plastic composite that eventually wears through/out. Ran Toyota trucks in my company for years and I was the mechanic as well. Owned and rebuilt several in my day. I also still have the 1987 Toyota Turbo Extra cab I rebuilt from a low mileage rollover back in 1991. Memories! I've had that truck longer than my oldest child. I'm old!

I have one. Mid way in 1995 they stopped production and started with the Tacoma. Easier to call it a 1994 when you buy parts so they don't get confused. Good trucks. Mine is same with Standard 5spd tranny. I have roughly 97k miles on mine. I had it as one of my company install trucks, and then down sized. Fun trucks, abundant parts.

    ISO hunting rifle

Which calibers are preferred, in descending order?

    ISO hunting rifle

Depends on the scope? Older guys used to hunt fine with a 3x9x32 (or 40). Some Nikon's, Bushnell's, Tasco's, Burris', Weaver's, etc. helped guys take a lot creatures in the day. Even open sights. My first and only deer to date was taken with open sights using an AK chambered in 223 back in the late 1980's or early 1990's in Utah. Wish I still had that gun!

    Where's the Beef? Here! FS

He's not poached. Probably costs less than an Elk hunt and tags/ pts. Not any fun to hunt but, should taste pretty dang good. I have some citrus and olive wood you can take to smoke some of the meat, N/C. I like smoking some of the beef, all chicken, and most turkey, lamb, and hog. I had two giant olive trees go over last November in a storm. The citrus I have from the grove. I also have limited pecan wood. I guess I'm a little spoiled.

    Where's the Beef? Here! FS

Last time I did one it was around $450. That was kill, gut, skin, cut up, and wrap and label. They cut it up how you want it. The beauty of my beef is I only raise the one I want to eat, the way I want it. No shots, no junk food. Just pasture and alfalfa hay. I just don't have room in my freezer or I would take ¼. He did get Mesa City water. Hay came from the SRP Indian Reservation and my land received irrigation water from Lake Saguaro/Granite Reef and SRP Southside canal system. I live close to old Lehi AZ. He was born on my property but I bought his mother when she was already pregnant. It is my understanding that he is a red Angus mix. Trying to be totally transparent.

    Where's the Beef? Here! FS

Butcher typically kills and guts as part of the processing fee.

    Where's the Beef? Here! FS

My rough cost, excluding water and labor was more than $4.50 per day x 2 (years) 365 divided by 2 ( pasture was half the year) = $1642.50 I did not include the first seven months it was on its mother but still ate hay/pasture.

That's on the hoof. You'll have one fourth of the butcher fees, wherever you guys decide to take it. Sounds like Wildwoody is heading the group purchase and butcher.
