    Starting over, kind of…

Moved to Arizona in 1982 from Iowa and fell in love with this great State! I have hunted, fished and explored as much as time allowed and still didn’t put a dent in what Arizona has to offer those who enjoy the outdoors. My wife and I will be moving back to Iowa soon and while I am excited to be close to family, a huge chunk of my heart will remain here. I have conversed with some of you through this forum and met or bought/sold items with others. All great people in my book. Thanks to all for contributing to this site and everything we do as hunters and angler’s to keep Arizona such a great place to enjoy the outdoors. Jim

Short update… Left the house in Arizona at 8 PM on September 8th and arrived at the new house in Iowa on September 10th about noon. Got my lifetime AZ hunting license before we left. I will have to buy a nonresident Iowa hunting license year and I am fine with that. We do qualify for landowner’s tags here. We have two brothers for neighbors and could not ask for better neighbors. One of the brothers hunts, one does not. The brother that hunts lives just up the hill from me and has given permission for us to hunt their land, as is walk out the door go through the gate and hunt. Everything behind us is corn so there ya go for pheasant hunting. The neighbor that hunts says the ridge in the field behind us is a deer highway in the fall so there ya go for deer. I can also hunt on land a friend farms, not sure how many acres but over a thousand. IA Born, my oldest nephew can’t wait to go pheasant hunting with me. I agree with you about Casey’s pizza. The wife and I froze about 20 quarts of sweet corn to help get us through the winter. Iowa sweet corn in the freezer is like sitting on gold. Kev, the neighbor up the hill shoots deer off his back deck with a rifle during shotgun season…

Yes and no…I was the guy in high school that always called my friends on snow days to go hunting. If they told me I was crazy I would always respond with “There’s fresh snow, everybody is an Indian this morning!”.

Kev, for Arizona yes, one buck per year. Last time I hunted Iowa I put in for antlered and was issued an altered tag and a doe tag. Just a tad bit more meat on an Eastern WT than on our gray ghost WT here in Arizona!

Kev, I will only be sitting on 2-1/4 acres but if you bow hunt I could hook you up! I know a bunch of people there so I should be able to get you access to good ground…

    Free meat

The bottom basket in my freezer is full of out dated deer meat from 2017 and 2019. I am hoping someone can use it for their dogs. I am near 75th Ave. and Broadway in Phoenix.

    Appliance hand truck

Clearing up some garage space and won’t be needing this. Made in the USA and purchased new around 12 years ago. Can’t find a weight rating on it but it is pretty stout. I would take $40 and I am near 75th Ave & Broadway. If you want it, reply on the site.

Looking for a mechanic in the Valley

2016 Silverado 5.3L with 86,000miles. Had a PO50D code . Chevrolet dealership said that I had low compression on #1 cylinder and quoted $1,300 just to tear it down and evaluate. Didn’t buy it. Lindsay’s replaced the #1 cylinder fuel injector, cleaned the valves and did a couple unrelated things. They said the compression was only a little low. After the valves were cleaned the compression is fine.

Looking for a mechanic in the Valley

Just had some work done at Lindsay’s Auto Service in Mesa. Dealership couldn’t even diagnose the problem and wanted to do a tear down to the tune of $1,300…Lindsay’s diagnosed and fixed the truck for $900.

    Javelina Hunts Video on YouTube

Liked the video, good stuff there. Free tip, carry a stiff comb when in the desert. Best way I have found to remove a ball of cactus.

    WTB Marlin 45-70 lever action

Did some looking while drinking my morning coffee. Marlin lever guns are commanding high prices right now. Link is to a 1974 vintage rifle for sale in Phoenix. Ya better sit down before you look at the price! https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/rifles/marlin-rifles/marlin-1895-45-70-1974-vintage.cfm?gun_id=101810820

    North of the Ditch hunts

Looks like an old Mossberg .22 LR semi automatic rifle. If you look at the front of the stock it looks like it is “hinged”.
