    CFMoto ZForce 500

Has anyone ridden in, or had experience with the CFMoto Zforce 500 trail side by side? I'm just looking for something to explore the trails on in the southern units, and wondering about how well it does up those rocky steep inclines and along trails that cross washes and draws. Not looking for speed or any dune play.

    CFMoto ZForce 500

I didn't have the budget for a honda/ Kawasaki/ etc. etc.used machine, so ended up with the CFMoto and snagged a 2016 500 ZForce Trail for ~$5K with 401 mi on it. They guy was retired used it to hunt in gardner canyon, but a knee replacement stopped him from wanting to venture out and he wanted to buy a boat to fish. Taking it out this weekend ... Here's a bit about the company from an industry rag: https://utvactionmag.com/cfmoto-zforce-800ex-4x4/

Strange things found while out hunting.....

very cool! I wonder if that's what it was.. I was kinda hoping to find some meteor fragments. Were they huts or just indentations in the ground that they smothered and cooked the wood. Any idea what they were called?

Strange things found while out hunting.....

I thought about that too, but it was on the side of a hill, and within 200 yds of a flat saddle that would have made a better spot for anything structure wise, it was also close enough to a shelf that and away from the base of the largest nearby hill that the location appeared random as there'd be a ton of better options in almost any direction for a hut or animal enclosure. When I went back to 2009 (first available high res images of this area) on google earth you can see that the rocks there is a clear area. Walking around within it the dirt was all very loose and there were no small rocks inside the circle. It was easy to dig down and there was really no established vegetation. Just outside the circle was normal desert crust with rocks, gravel and dirt and scrub bushes and grass. The images below are winter 2009 and summer 2018

Strange things found while out hunting.....

I found this perfect stone circle in the Sierritas, about 15yds in diameter about 1/4 mile from the nearest track. Initially thought it could have been a small impact crater, but the stones were stacked so purposely. I wonder if it was a training target, gonna have to go back and pay attention to the metal fragments that were around and see if any are like the above.. cool find.

    Uh oh...

The part about generic opiod drugs not being a part of billions of dollars in profit for pharmaceutical companies. Just look at the lawsuits being settled across the country. Just because it's not Pfizer or Eli Lilly doesn't mean these companies arent big pharma. Even in AZ opiod manufacturers had shady incentive programs and business practices #purduepharma #teva #j&j #mallinkrodt

Suggestions on finding a new camp in the dark

Gaia GPS has a free fully functional month trial. Download it now and like OnX you can download the maps and routes you make prior to leaving to your phone/tablet and just follow the waypoints or tracks.

Shooting from one unit into another????

Aren't all numbered units bounded by major roads, dirt roads, or rivers and tracks? I know shooting across or from the first two is a violation, but if the possibility that it's an unimproved road or hiking trail along the river is high don't you run the risk of shooting over somebody's (hiker, fisherman, mountain bike rider, horses, etc.) head? That seems like quite the risk for both the people involved and the publicity from it. I was looking at the GMUs in my neck of the woods and, with the exception of the reservation lands, boundaries they are all bounded by roads or the San Pedro. Are most other units free from those kind of boundaries up north where ridges are close to boundaries? I'm trying to see where the OP might be shooting from/to to understand it better. Also, glassing from anywhere to anywhere is just glassing. If you have a license for anything in the open season a bow, muzzleloader, shotgun, and rifle are al legal equipment for most animals or shed hunting, there can't be a restriction of glassing across a road/ boundary, but shooting just seems super risky for more reasons than just getting caught by (or self reporting to) the AZGFD.

    Leftover Tag Strategy

Hey there, this is my first season applyng for leftover tags and I see it mentioned in dozens of threads, but I'm wondering if there's a strategy that works well. They say the won't be accepted before a certain date, so do I have to be careful it wont arrive on the Friday or Saturday and be ignored? For an out-of-state friend who want to try and get the same hunt, if he fedex delivers it, does it make sense for saturday delivery, or is USPS the only way? Envelope size matter? Thanks

    Leftover Tag Strategy

I went into the Tucson AZGFD today to get an OTC tag for next year and asked them too. They said if it arrives before hand it'll be discarded. Seems like a weird policy since the envelopes contain money and maybe in the form of cashiers checks. She also told me I wasn't allowed to email or talk to the wildlife biologist for 36A. When reading the forums here "talking to the unit manager/biologist" seems to be in the top 5 pieces of advice for hunters new to an area.
