OUTSTANDING!!! Especially those kids! The best!!!!! Thanks for sharing with the site, Keven! S.

Bingo! That's what I'm thinking. There is obviously more to the story than was printed in the media (like an entire court case worth of info). Really.... Apparently a jury felt differently. If you were drawn #11 for 10 Arizona resident Bighorn tags and someone did this you'd be screaming the loudest. He never was a resident of Utah and he never intended to be... so that he could fraudulently obtain a Utah sheep tag. If you can't see that... we see the law through different sides, obviously. Ed FFirst off you'd never know you were #11. Second of all is I see that he fulfilled all requirements to be a resident. Yeah he obviously did it for a sheep tag but if he fulfilled the requirements set forth by Utah LAW then that's Utahs problem. Like I said maybe there is more to the story than what's being told. But if he truly and honestly lived there for 6 months he was legally a resident. But I guess they can get you with anything they want with the "you can't move here to claim residency for special reasons" thing. Does just living there for 6 months fulfill any requirement to claim residency? I'm thinking he might have had to file a Utah state residence tax form for that period of time, or something like that (Maybe he filed Arizona state tax and never filed in Utah?)? As you said, there is very likely more to it..... S.

I have edited the post. You're new around here Coues poacher, and you apparently don't understand what this site is about. Take your weak racist comments elsewhere, please. Oh, and BTW, you might want to educate yourself a little bit on your whole 'right to freedom of speech' comment. That applies to public speaking. This is considered a private forum, and free speech doesn't really exist. It is the site owner who has the right to decide what will and will not be published on this site. S. the government Can't infringe on your right to free speech anyone else can. Also if most of these guys were 4" shorter they'd be pushing a broom for a living. That's not racist Ugh.... Here we go again. Some of you guys seriously need to read-up on and try to understand the constitutional premise and intent of 'free speech'. Been hashed-out several times on this site already. Nobody's 'free speech' rights are being infringed on. This site is private. It is not public. Since it is a private site, free speech does not apply. Therefore your argument on free speech being infringed on is not valid. Get it now? You and anyone else here are completely free to start your own forum and post anything you want (because you would own the site, and nobody, including the government, could tell you what could or could not be published there). Nobody is stopping that from happening. But as long as you are posting to a site that someone else owns, you are not free to post anything you want. For the record, I don't disagree at all with your broom pushing comment. S.

No, I do not think a change in the law(s) is warranted. If you let another hunter tag an animal you killed (as you indicated was your intent) and/or killed more than your limit, you should face the consequences as they are based on the current laws, IMO. S.

Family, friends, and some elk to hunt! Awesome!!!! (Looks like you guys know how to camp, too! ) Good stuff right there! S.

Possibly check-out some of the youth opportunities in New Mexico? (I'm not certain of their draw deadlines.....) My oldest son and I, who is now 23, went on a Junior hunt in New Mexico unit 34. It was a great hunt! Good luck!! S.

OK, It's super rare for me to go on a rant, but here it comes..... Up early having my coffee and doing a bit of work while watching the news. Just saw a story on this tragedy, along with video. The area shown in the video (with people firing during the news report) did not look at all like any kind of safe firing range. The terrain was gently sloping-up without any kind of solid or clear natural back-stop. Just a gently sloping hill littered with targets, rocks, and creosote. Be sure of your target and beyond? Um, not at this place..... Who the heck would ever target shoot there??? Unbelievable! S.

Ugh, yes she died. VERY sad! https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/southwest-valley/2018/01/15/24-year-old-kami-gilstrap-dies-after-being-struck-stray-bullet-buckeye/1034092001/

I'm curious what the land status is at the Miller location you guys are referencing? (North of I-10?) Just out of curiosity, I was looking at that area on my onX Hunt ap. Seems like a crazy checkerboard of private land, state land, National Guard land, Flood Control district land, etc... Can someone share the exact location? Again, just curious.... Thx! S.

That's a VERY nice buck! Check out those eye guards and mass! LOVE a big ol' Sonoran Desert mule deer!! Good show! S.

+1 on any good seamstress operation. What part of town are you in? My daughter & ex-wife swear by Valentina's Bridal (12th Street and Northern). S.

Awesome deer! VERY awesome that you stuck with it!!! Good on you for that! S.

What site did you check? I've had good luck with lakepowel.com http://www.lakepowell.com/houseboating/deluxe-houseboats/ Ever done it before? It is an AMAZING way to spend a week! Good luck! S.

Wondering if the one you got just happens to be tight..... Possibly machined/sewn just outside of their normal desigh pattern (defect)? I have two Eberlestock packs. Have never dealt with their customer service, but I assume they might take it back and give you a different one that isn't so tight? Good luck! S.

+1 on the dark antlers!!! Very cool rack! No matter what the antlers though, it is VERY awesome for the young man! Thanks for sharing! S.
-
Awesome! Nothing like being with a young one when they kill their first deer (or second, third, etc....)!! S.
-
Ugh...... Sorry man, just can't take the bait! lol I could argue both ways! They would both be amazing trophies, as long as I was over my son or daughter's shoulder when they made the shot!! S. PS: I guess I will take the bait. I'm such a poor long range shot and horrible archery hunter, either one would be a miracle. I'm thinking a BIG coues would be pretty amazing though, so I'll hit the long range shot button!

Yup, that all makes sense! I have not had a wall tent before, but have heard that one of the advantages of canvas over what I currently have (Alaknak synthetic....) is that the canvas breaths much better. That's why it surprise me to see the tarp. Your reasoning makes sense though. Thx! S.
-
Looks like a great set-up! I've used an Alaknak for years, and have been consdering a wall tent for my next one. Question: Why use the tarp over the canvas? Thanks! S.
