The ADA has not taken a stance on the bill. We were given a preliminary overview of what the bill was and what it would accomplish. The board asked for more information and the "devil in the details". Since we did not see the bill prior to the dropping in the state legislature and since there was a response that mandated not moving it forward, there will be no vote on an item that is moot. As far as membership, the ADA is not a member of the AZSFW. We are however a member of the AZSFWC. The purpose of the "C" is to have a forum for sportsmen, meet monthly to discuss items of interest, meet with the AZGFD (They come every month and brief us on what is current) and then review proposals for the spending of the wildlife plate monies. The ADA, the AES, the AAF and the ADBSS have in the past funded the lobbyist efforts of Capitol Consulting (Suzanne Gilstrap). That process will be up for review, pending any decisions as to the future of the AZSFW. Please feel free to ask any more questions. So who gave the preliminary overview of the bill? will we ever be told the answer to this?

at the azgfd meeting on Wed. Norm Freeman said that he had over 200 email that day alone wanting to get rid of that outfit.

I agree 100% with this. If the ADA is to be credible at all they need to clean house.

Where do we go from here?
runningbird replied to archerycrazy's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
One thing that I keep noticing is if you look at the board of the different groups, you frequently see the same peoples names. . So what we have then is different organizations with the same agenda, and in some cases a self serving agenda. -

Great idea George! I was at the meeting on Wed. and am still in the cooling off period. Looking forward to some good responses from everyone here! -
purple hammer. But hammer all the way. Maybe I'm half normal which would be more credit than my family gives me.

http://www.azgfd.gov/inside_azgfd/documents/2012.01.25%20Agenda%20-%20Telephonic%20Mtg.pdf Looking at the agenda for this afternoon it looks like some of this mess may be addressed at the meeting. This could give us some additional insight.

Sounds like the ADA got JACK SQUAT for their $10,000 Or maybe the ADA almost got exactly what it wanted? I'll stand by this idea since BPJ has not really answered any of the real questions asked in these two threads. And now he complains that the ADA could not get names from a former governor. BPJ you have been asked for names multiple times in these two threads and you have not given them either.

it does look like the swacker or the sonoran. But I like that it locks and swivels. -
Actually, as I posted before, I haven't decided on this yet. When making a decision about this, I think it's important to get as many facts as possible. I think it's important to hear from lots of hunters, the AGFD commission, other sportsmens groups as well as the people who created this bill. I expect to be attending a meeting next week with the sportsmens groups to discuss this issue. Just wondering if you did in fact attend a meeting on this subject. If so what did you find out. Thanks!
-
Robbie and George Thanks for getting some facts into this discussion! Has I have mentioned before, I think this whole thing will unite the average sportsman and help them wake up a bit.

I agree 100% with this post. Also young hunters are expected to take hunters ED course. It could be brought up in the class that it's not really ethical to hunt elk with a 30 pound draw weight. When my kids were young they were all pulling 40 pounds, and couldn't wait to raise the weight. Also kids seem to practice a bunch! So they build those drawing muscles quickly.

I think, had the bill been snuck thru the damage would have much worse than what we have now. At least now we may have the opportunity to find out which organizations we should support and trust. I still want to hear the positions on this bill from the different organizations. So far I think only The Arizona Elk Society has come out and stated that they were not for it. And NO, not taking a stance on a defunct bill is not going to cut it. If a group wants to represent AZ sportsmen and women then they need to be up front and honest, no side stepping.

Well said Stanley. I believe you actually took over my spot when I left the Mule deer association many years ago. although there were no youth camps at the time. I left for some of the reasons you have stated but you said it much nicer than I ever would. I also will keep those thoughts to my self.

Thanks for the info Amanda. The better informed we are, the stronger we are as a group. I think it is important for us all to remember that most of these organizations do in fact help us all. Unfortunately there will always be a few who try to take care of their own interest and think they are above explanation.
-
My question still is, if AZ Sportsmen for Wildlife group represents all the other groups in AZ, did these groups such as the ADA know about this bill beforehand? Maybe Amanda can shed some light on this. If the other groups did know about it why did know one speak up? If they did not know about it than my impression is that the AZ Sportsmen for Wildlife group are a self serving group, who think they are above everyone else and can try and do what ever they want. If this group puts on the outdoor expo, then I will not be attending.

My mistake TLH, I misread two different post. Thanks for the clarification. I have also edited my post.

my only comment after reading thru this mess is. If this was such an honorable deal why didn't BPJ or any one else for that matter come on this forum and say something beforehand. Like hey were looking at proposing this deal, this is why and what do you all think....My thinking is that when something is snuck in thru the back door, it most likely didn't belong inside in the first place.

coolest part of the buck is the story. We all can relate to the buck fever!

Good luck, at least the bucks are starting to come thru. Thanks for the updates, lots of fun.

I would start out with Javalina, squirls and bunny's. It will help you more than you can imagine. Hunting rabbits helps you to relax, pick a spot and aim well. There are still some pig tags left that you can go out and buy. You could also join one of the bow hunting clubs and most likely make some friends to hunt with.

a question? Are the scrapes usually close to the rubs? I'm finding lots of fresh rubs but not any scrapes. I'm hunting a little lower that you. lots of cactus and juniper. thanks,
