Two Great Post! I would not be surprised if Thursday night someone from AZSFW is at the meeting handing out a new revised bill or fact sheet (full of more lies). If so I think we should tear it up and drop it at their feet.
  2. Ryan, You need to add your name to the GREEN list. All the legislators have a copy of your report. Great work!
  3. BuzzH, I wish you were a resident as well. Most of us are just shooting in the dark. We are working hard but not always in the most efficient way.

I Just talked to Rick Gray from district 9. He told me he has been getting a lot of emails from supporters of this deal the last few days. That is one of the reasons he took the time to call me. We need to ramp this up right now!
  6. Add Rick Gray district 9 to the green list. He is very much against this whole deal.

Nope, Never received a thing. I'll make the change on my profile. I joined CW in 2004 and like a lot of people I would just check in every once and a while. Maybe ask or answer a question on the bowhunting portion. Thanks for setting up the mass emails, I really had no idea you were doing that. Mark

something like: Now might be a good time to check this portion of the forum as 2072 is still active, Please don't reply here. Not wanting to start a 20 page thread any place else. For example if the original post back in January would have been in the political discussions portion of our forum I would never have seen it. I feel like most people never would have seen it. I'm just wanting as much exposure has possible. But then again maybe at this time everyone should know to look here.

The last couple months were just a warm up! Now is the time to get active! Can we post something about this elsewhere on CW so that others will check in? We need everyone to understand that this is for real and will be pushed thru unless we are heard. Mark
  11. I now have a much better understanding of why it has taken so long for the ADA to get their surveys out in the mail. The task of getting a survey together or in my case two letters and a few pages of pertinent data together should not be taken lightly. Like the ADA we chose to put our latest thoughts and opinions down on paper rather than an email. We were very lucky in that we only had about 120 letters to get out, where has the ADA needed to send out over 350. Now I will say up front that I did not do this alone. In fact after much hard work and research I was able to find a qualified assistant. This assistant worked tirelessly, and best of all for almost free. We started out early, even though my assistant wasn't to arrive till almost 7:00 a.m. First of all we needed to compose a couple letters. Lucky for me Christine is pretty good with words so this went well. We had our letters underway when our assistant showed up. That is when we hit our first snag, he insisted on breakfast before starting for the day. Well has it happened I was ready for him and breakfast went off with out a hitch. Back at the letters things moved along well. I must say letter writing was not my assistants forte either. But once again with Christine's help we pressed on. Has we were making the finishing touches on the letters it was discovered that we needed more envelopes. Well no problem I'll just send our assistant to the store. Well come to find out he had never bothered to apply for his drivers license. OK, I guess I'll be making a trip to the store. Back from the store I find out that Christine does have to work for a living and she is heading out. Lucky for me I convinced her to help me with some of the envelope addressing before she took off. And after all I've got my helper and I'm sure together we can get this thing done. It's now time to print off our letters and data sheets. This goes off without a problem so we head out to the UPS store to make some copies. I ask for 125 and a short time later I am out the door with my assistant and we are ready to get back to work. Now we get back home and start folding and stuffing envelopes. Let me just stop here and say for the record, This could have been the main reason for the ADA delayed mailing. This is very dangerous work! At one point I was thinking I would rather be assembling broadheads. Paper cuts are NO laughing matter in fact my assistant flat out refused to stuff envelopes! He went so far has to throw them thru-out the room. But I must say I couldn't really blame him. This is hard relentless work. I think we were both getting a little cranky, At one point he even mentioned heading to the kitchen for a drink? It wasn't even noon yet. Well about half way thru the folding and stuffing it became apparent that we did not get the 125 copies that I had asked for. So back to the UPS store we went. Again my helper refused to stay behind and keep working. Well we made it home and has luck would have it my daughter showed up and was able to give me a hand. Thank goodness because my assistant was so worn out he was beginning to cry like a baby and ask for daddy????? Finally about 1:30 we finished up and head out for the delivery. We chose to hand deliver our envelopes instead of mailing out like the ADA. So we jumped in the the truck for a drive down to the Capitol. By 3:00 pm our work was done for the day. We were both beat but more importantly we had a better understanding of what the ADA has been thru. My assistant has asked that I make this post in hopes that he can be of some help to someone else. Like I said he does work cheap and doesn't eat too much. Here is a photo of my assistant early in the process. A little later in the day, we were both thinking "boy this is a lot of work" At this point it was more like " Will this ever end?" And finally we are done and ready to hit the road! Now can we just relax in the grass for a little bit? Disclaimer: not intended to make fun of anyone other than myself,,,,and my assistant.
  12. I hope that Pete gave the G&F his home address. I am sure that AZGFD will happy to mail Pete phone books from across the state. Pete this is a public meeting even you are invited!

    WHAT U CAN DO TODAY

This afternoon is a great time to call. It looks like there are only a couple of meetings on the agenda. Most of the legislators should be available.
  15. Here is what Debbie McCune Davis had to say. You are welcome. This bill is very bad for Arizona and we will continue to fight it until it goes away. Debbie

RING RING RING - NEW INFO: the phone calls going to the Reps are not coming from those who are opposing. It's the Bill supporters who are making the inroads with calls and meetings. It is not just the lobbyist! Each individual who wants to make a difference needs to act now and continue to act until the session is over. Contact the Chairs, Vice-Chairs, and members of the committees most likely to hear this bill along with your reps: Energy and Natural Resources: Pratt and Brophy McGee and members Military Affairs and Public Safety: Gowan and Proud and members Agriculture and Water: Jones and Crandell and members Pierce and Tobin, and Reeves who are key legislators with leverage. Call these numbers if you want to be directed to their offices: Arizona House of Representatives Capitol Complex 1700 West Washington Phoenix, AZ 85007-2890 Info Desk (602) 926-4221 Arizona State Senate Capitol Complex 1700 West Washington Phoenix, AZ 85007-2890 Info Desk (602) 926-3559

    WHAT U CAN DO TODAY

Bad News. Groups in support of HB2072 have access to and are making their pitch to legislators - including TODAY. The behind the scene work is in full swing. Be very much aware AZSFW and beneficiaries/supporters(?) are re-tailoring their sales pitch to hit the buttons of each rep they meet and doing whatever it takes to get the votes they need. Strategic undeclared republicans and democrats are now being hit hard... many probably have no idea the misinformation being fed to them. A friend of mine spoke with Ruben Gallegos this afternoon and Mr. Gallegos shared that he had met with Bill Supporters earlier in the day. My friend said Mr. Gallegos did listen for a few minutes but in the end he would only say that he was "researching" the issue. This is the same exact wording I have recently heard being used by other reps. BIG RED FLAG... to me "researching" is a code word at this stage of the game. We cannot underestimate the expertise of the AZSFW lobbyist team or the paybacks owed. We also cannot relax until the 2012 Legislative Session has gone home for the year. Sorry folks - we don't have just a few days to go - so hang on, keep making the calls, keep reaching out, stay on guard, and don't stop until they go home! p.s. one of the most effective ways right now for legislator/senator contact is to call them and ask to speak with them. Ask them to return your call, and do it all over again at least every day until they follow through. State your concerns, ask their position, ask them for their advice on how to stay on top of this, ask them procedural questions such as what committee could hear this bill if it becomes a striker and who is on the committee, what other reps should I be contacting, etc... that's how I've been learning and trying to pass along what I can. If you can meet with your rep - praise you and let us know how it goes. Also, don't underestimate the power of educating their staff - as they too can help convey your passion and concerns. Remember the vast majority of people involved with this are decent hard working Arizonan's just like us Always be kind - know your mind - act - make your mom proud! ... okay way too tired...

    WHAT U CAN DO TODAY

Do not exclude Democrats, They are being contacted by supporters of this bill. More on this tonight but need to contact ALL the legislators.
  20. http://www.azleg.sta...tteeAgendas.asp I've been checking this site all day. there have been some changes on the striker side. But so far nothing on 2072. Also checked with Steve Pierce's office twice today and they are still not seeing this move at all. I was told they have heard nothing about it at all this week. But they have gotten some calls against it.
  21. Better info. Runningbird, I believe that refers to getting the permission of the sponsor of the bill being struck, that is, the person whose bill is being set aside. In this case the "new" bill number we are watching for, not HB2072. Bruce Here is the link to the page that provides daily updates on committee agendas. This is likely where any striker will show up first. Notice that when you look at a particular committee agenda, the column on the right gives information on "strikers". http://www.azleg.state.az.us/CommitteeAgendas.asp
  22. Got this from Tony Guiles this morning. I think this portion may be very important. "Moreover, protocol requires a legislator offering a striker to first get the permission of the original bill’s sponsor." Was Weiers the original sponsor? If so we should be once again bombarding his office with calls, emails and everything else possible. Strikers are very hard to track and that's one of the things that makes them so dangerous. I would continue to contact your legislators on a weekly basis letting them know your concerns. At this point in time it doesn't hurt to sound like a broken record. A “strike everything after the enacting clause” amendment (also referred to as a “strike everything” amendment or simply a “striker”) proposes to delete the entire text of the existing bill and substitute new language, essentially making it a completely different bill, possibly on an entirely different subject. These amendments are sometimes used to allow legislators to circumvent the deadlines on introduction of new legislation, deal with an issue that arises after the deadline or revive a bill that has previously been defeated. Because of the drastic effect of a strike everything amendment, legislative rules impose extended posting and notice requirements beyond those for other amendments. Moreover, protocol requires a legislator offering a striker to first get the permission of the original bill’s sponsor. Legislators may not propose strike everything amendments in either the Rules Committee or Committee of the Whole of either house or in a conference committee.
