    shafts

I completely agree with jason, I practice to 80-90 yard often. this makes looking at and picking a spot at 40 yards seem easy. also if you can hold steady at 80 think how easy it is not to waver at 40. Also if you have the ability practice at different angles to the target and unknown yardage..

    shafts

I've shot ACC's for 7 years and like them the most. they have a little more diameter than carbon which makes them easy to fletch and tune to my rest. I think in the 7 years I've only broken 3 arrow's. I also have one arrow which is responsible for 6 kills.

draw length and weight for kids

I gave both of my boy's High Country bows when they were about 8, I chose the high country because the weight went from 25-40 and draw was adjustable from 23-28. these were real bow's which they both were able to hunt with when they were old enough. I think it's important to start them off with quality equipment to help keep them from getting discouraged. these bow's were pretty easy to tune and they were fast! they start shooting with tabs, easier to learn with plus no big deal when lost. For my daughter I bought her a nice pse recurve which shot very nice and was easy to draw. any good luck and most of all be patient and have FUN.

    How close???

The closest Iv'e gotten was about 55 yards and I still could'nt find him, My son was 400 yards away signaling that he was right in front of me. I never even saw him when he snuck away. Oh well I'll be searching for him again soon.

    what is considered "average" group?

I agree with both the above post. I would also say that right now you should not take a shot at over 30 yards. your group is not to bad but remember that is at a known distance. try taking shots from random yardage and angles, then let us know what your groupings are like. I think youll find that your groups are not as good. One thing I do is just walk outside at any angle or yardage and take only one shot, then stop. anyway Good luck and have fun.

    time for a new bow

I also shoot a Mathews. I've shot most of their bows. If they continue to produce this quality of equipment I don't think I'll shoot anything else.

    Residents vs. Non-Residents

I would help just about anyone out. Remember if you need help do you care if they are res or non res. I've met some very nice and helpfull non res. on hunts. for the most part were all there for the same reason.
