Made the drive over friday night with two friends in tow, rested our eyes for 30 minutes and headed out hiking into our glassing point, turned up this buck the first two hours and made the shot...thanks billy o and john

I got him from the spot I was set up glassing, we had spred out a little to cover more area and they were right below me, as I was on the radio with my buddy they must have heard me and started to move away, I shot a couple times over him moving and got him to stop at 430 yards and turn back to see what I was and dropped him there, I was shooting my model 700 Remmington 300 Ultra mag, 180 gr barnes Federals...was a fun, fast trip...

A Call to Action...McDowell Mountain Preserve
elkhutnaz replied to 1uglydude's topic in The Campfire
I am off at 2 that day and plan on going, I have hunted that area for 10 plus years and have shot pigs and deer out of there and NEVER ran into anyone out there unless I was at the trailhead. I want to hear the safety concern because most archery hunters aren't going to be around hikers. -
well planned on sitting water waiting for a goat to come to water but after 3 days of hard scouting didn't see many goats coming to water..just wondering how often they will water and if anyone has had any luck with the moo cow decoy? have a spot picked out with 3 bucks in the area and they seem to be feeding and bedding in the same area everyday..so going to try to get close and wait..well good luck to everyone and any info would be great..Thanks

yeah just a Barbary sheep, but still pumped What kind of sheep?!?!? I'm assuming barbary or it would've been followed by an exclamation mark?!

Well my son had drawn a 6a tag so we headed out after school friday, AIMS testing kept us in town, we got loaded and on the road at 330pm leaving our home in Peoria, after a couple hour drive we set a quick camp hoping to get out by dark and roost a bird for the next morning. We had a few before it was going to be time to go to roost so I told TJ to gear up and let's go, we drove the ranger up the road to our honey hole and parked, after a short walk(like 200 yards) I hit a box call and got a answer, we dropped at the next tree and called a gain, He was on top of us, 80 yards out he blew up and struted all the way into 20 yards where TJ layed the smack down, Done!!! way too quick back to camp in less than 45 minutes...Andy
