Usually it's peterson, nosler,or last resort hornady. Looks like I made the right call when I ordered 200 pcs of peterson before my gun was done . It's outa stock everywhere.

Yep ! There was a lion kill up the hill from where I shot my turkey. My buddy Chuck found it and after they tagged out they setup on it . No luck but another group of hunters did have eyes on it . They said a big cat. You could still smell dead elk going to the water but I'm not sure if it was some of the elk the guy down past us hit . He had a crossbow and said he hit 3 and couldn't find them.

Black Friday usually has cabelas/ bass pro with the savage axis line for a good price . Usually around 300 bucks scoped . They have compact sizes .

Walmart has several lifetime brand coolers that were marked down . Picked up a 50 something qt for my sxs for under a hundred bucks . The next size up wasn't much more that that . Held ice for over a week on my turkey hunt.

My buddies were 4 elk taken from the same waterhole 3 bulls one cow on the 6a archery hunt . One spot and stock and just one tag not filled but my buddies daughter only had a few days to hunt with school and activities. I did glass a big group of elk out by horse knoll that went south and outa where my buddies were . They were probably 70yds behind the elk for awhile but the wind did them in . Seemed that there was a guide with two hunters in the bottom and 4 spotters working the ridge and radio in the location . There was also several camps in the bottom and the elk definitely don't like that . They were outa there . Not as vocal as they usually are first 30 minutes at daylight then at total dark. My buddy that shot his spot and stalk was hunting draws near water .

The moon definitely has an effect on what they can see . That will change when they feed and water. Seems it went to 💩 with the weather. I was in 6a for my buddies archery hunt and they filled 5 tags from Friday to Monday when I left . Then I was back a few weeks later for my turkey tag and the elk were still around just not as vocal. Deer were out most days and easy to find. Weird year for elk I guess. Hopefully next year I'll get a tag and it will be better 🙏.

The 375 ruger brass has been almost impossible to find . I've only been able to get 40 pieces new and that was a year ago. My buddy that lives on the west side did say sportsmans had ammo back on the shelf for it . It's usually over a hundred a box so it gets expensive especially when your only after just the brass. I did test out using 300 prc brass and expanding the necks back up and it did seem to work tho I haven't had time to fully test and load the brass . I used two or three expander mandrel and annealed.

My buddies daughter in law had the 4a hunt and never really got a go at it. There trailer needed tires then the truck had a vibration that turned out to be a major suspension issue. After all that they only got a day to hunt and same deal crazy weather and no elk . What a big change from the archery hunt. Elk were out and easy to find even with the bulls not talking that much. Gotta be the weather change.

Alot of the manufacturers are worried about potential law issues for marketing guns to/for kids so they went to the compact line instead of youth . It definitely makes finding youth sized guns a bit more challenging.

22 general pig for my buddy and me again. I see fish and game has the numbers up for apps and tags available but didn't see any leftover list . We usually pick up a leftover archery pig tag. No leftover or just not posted yet or did I just not see a list ?

It's probably the same as mine and a full with a twin jumper bunk over the top. The couch folds into a bed and the table makes another for really short people or kids.

I did a hog hunt in central CA out by Fort hunter ligget and on my way back there was a bear hit crossing the 5 freeway out by pyramid lake . Plenty of deer and turkey out by where I was hunting. Elk also they were in there rut it was weird as it was father's day weekend.

Hopefully you got rental insurance for the kia!! Quite the adventure. Way to make the best of it and score two elk.

Pigs or turkey for us not sure what yet as they cost the same.

I'm going to make the trip up the Friday after Thanksgiving for the weekend to do some scouting for a place to park my travel trailer for the hunt and to see what ever I'll need to bring up for the hunt. I'll shoot you a pm when it gets closer so we can meet up and figure it all out.

Optimistic is the only way to put it ! Hopefully things get better in the ammo and outdoor gear world. It sucks that it seems everything is about how much can be made before dumping things instead of how to make things better.

Good luck to all the kids!! Elk and deer numbers seem to be up in 6a . It should be similar in most all the elk units. We just came back to the heat . It was in the low 80's during the day and down in the 50's at night in 6a. The Payson area should be about 10/15 degrees hotter so be prepared and drink lots of water . It did take quite awhile for the tem drop to feel good at night. Have fun Kev kids hunts are great.

Who's chasing turkey? I'll be in 6a trying to shoot a bigger bird than last year's. It's going to be hot .The trailer is already up and set . It was nice last weekend

Being done hunting and getting my sxs back up and running thanks to Amazon and my hunting buddies wife who was due to make the trip up Friday after work . I ran into another group of hunters looking for birds for a young hunter. So I told Rocky and his grandson about my spot and how and when the birds were coming in . Right at 5pm everyday. Then went to return my buddies sxs to him . Later that day my buddy and i were shooting guns me my 300blk and 280ai and him some big boomer guns a ruger#1 in 416 rigby and a 375 ultra mag . Just about a hour before dark and down the trail the guys come and they had a bird for the grandson . He thanked me over and over again . They couldn't believe that the birds came in just like I said they would . That's definitely the best part of the trip for me . I did get to see antelope just past camp and take my wife to a tank she hadn't seen . Just about a hundred yds before the tank I stopped and glassed and caught movement . A herd of deer was on there way into water and we just sat and watched and got pictures.
