WTB. Quality Vortex Binos for my Son in Law
Crazymonkey replied to Boarman03's topic in Classified Ads
A pair of 10x42 vortex diamondback binos is probably what your looking for. If on sale there from 169 to 199 . If not around 249 same ones i give to the kids . Lifetime warranty and good past there price point. -
Send it to magna port and have them port the barrel. I did my redhawk 44 with the 4.2 inch barrel and what a difference. It's like shooting a 357 and super controllable. Picture for reference

My wife and daughter picked out a card and it went in the mail a few days ago.

Adding a 4th prize to the giveaway . A Savage 334 in 308 with a Vortex 3x9x40 scope. My dad won this rifle from Ducks Unlimited and wanted to donate it to the Giveaway. I've paired it with a scope donated by 10turkeys . I'm sure I'll have ammo for it also.

Bump Doing good on 22lr Ammo . Thanks niteman ,and 10turkeys. Still on the hunt for 20 gauge,308,and 6.5 Creedmoor ammo. -
Turners outdoorsman was a good shop in comifornia. Spent alot of money there before I moved. Yes they moved here to finally sell guns . There's so much b.s. that they go thru in cali that they are pretty much just a tackle shop anymore.

Was up on my 6a cow hunt in 6a last week and found this guy . Not exactly a dead head but still a dead elk . I had my buddy Dan and his 11 yr old Cooper . It was just by chance we cut across where we did to get back to where we parked. Poor guy probably lived quite awhile before he dropped. It had a arrow in the back quarter broke off. A solid 7 x 6 . Dan was trying to get a recovery tag from fish and game so we could keep it so we are just waiting to see . If we get lucky it's going to Cooper.

So after a month between when we found the bull and when I went back in and got a look . He had been cleaned up by the scavengers . Not much left of him at all . I did recover the head and give it my best at a euro . I do think it came out good but it's definitely not something I would do again. It's a chore and it's better for me to just pay to have it done . What do you think?

It's a good idea with either as you get blow by . The paramount pro was discontinued. If you do get a used one and don't do the breach plug make sure and request a new bolt head spring from cva . They sent mine free of charge. It's a stronger spring and will help but just for a short time . Don't trust the powder tubes with load lines and weight your loads out . Make sure you run the loads by weight and not volume for best accuracy.
-
Looked at the endura vs the paramount pro in already have and not much for ballistic difference. The endura will run smokeless but illegal for the muzzleloader hunts and there’s not much gain . Infact with blackhorn 209 the velocity is better. There stated velocity is probably off some as I only run 105 gr by weight and get 2465 so the 112 would get better. The veri -flame adapters kinda suck and a arrowhead plug and brass adapters is needed to not get blow back . The bolt is spring loaded on the head and the arrowhead is not. They do shoot amazing for what they are and as soon as I can im planning on taking mine out to 500yds. It's only 1.25 moa from 100 to 200 but past that they drop fast . Blackhorn is the ticket as you can clean with your rifle stuff no problem. They do pack some recoil so get the anarchy break or arrowhead it's definitely a game changer.

Just had my dad and another hunter in 6a . Two good days to hunt then the weather came in. Lots of water and snow. It really shut things down! Lucky to get the trucks out ! The trailers are still stuck up there. My buddy has 7 hunters up right now. Going to try and get the trailers out Friday. I've got to get mine then my dad's.

Anyone switched to copper bullets?
Crazymonkey replied to Rudebob's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Impact velocity needs to be up in the 1500fps to 1800 fps for proper expansion. Most are running lighter bullets fast. You might be at the limits for Impact velocity and expansion. We usually have clean kills and no bullets recovered as there's a entry and exit hole . -
Up for my dad's muzzleloader elk hunt in 6a. Dad has a cow tag and Nick from another site has a bull tag. I'm playing chauffeur and guide. I'm running 4 blinds as dad is 75 and Nick is in his 60's. So dad's in one spot Nick another and me another just to see what's going on. No point in me going back to camp . Saturday I had a group of elk at 730 and another at 830 am . It's just me and im already done hunting elk as I had the general cow hunt here a few weeks ago. Tagged out on my hunt on opening day. Dad had 9 bulls at his spot at 5 pm but has a cow tag . Nick hasn't seen a elk but has a bull tag. Raining like heck today so going to spot and stalk tomorrow there's water everywhere! The picture is the group infront of me at 730

All bulls!! Dad had a cow tag. Lots of guys were looking for bulls were only needed a cow. No luck this year just good memories with dad!

Youth hunts are fixing to start very soon . I've been doing the kids giveaway for a few years already and have just one winner with a deer taken with the gun she won. Past or present put up some pictures of the kids using the stuff they've won on there hunts at the range or anywhere. Pictures are worth a thousand words and the smiles on the kids faces make it worth every penny.

Back at camp after a wet walk. Missed our road back to the sxs but came out on another road. I figured out where we were and had dad stay put and went to get the sxs . We are soaked! Caught something not right and found a spike bedded with some cows 100 yds from where we parked . She caught me out in the open . Off they went ! It wouldn't have made any difference because my dad wasn't with me and I still needed to get the sxs and pick him up . Wet and cold but warmer now in the trailer running the heater
