If your switching to blackhorn you can run your normal rifle cleaning components and oil and it will have no effect on powder burn just remember to run a dry patch after you oil it .I've currently got 20 plus shots thru my paramount pro running blackhorn and no need to clean or patch barrel yet. Absolutely weight the powder charges out if you can the volume markes on the tube are known to be off.

I got my calendar yesterday in the mail.I figure if I'm going to chase them I might as well support groups that are trying to keep us hunting them.

I'm in gilbert and shoot at Rio Salado .My buddy will have my gun for a few weeks for his ham hunt .But when I do get it back I could meet you at the range and you could give it a try for yourself it's an impressive gun for what it is.

My buddy was shooting 1 moa at a hundred yds .I've shot it to 2 hundred and it will hold just over moa. I want to run full bore bullets like the arrow head or pittman as they say the skirt on the powerbelt has a negative effect on accuracy. That was the problem with some of the 45 cal optimas and accura models. The skirt had varying thickness and would screw up the bullet flight.

Per powerbelt the elr in 45 cal is designed to work out to 500 yds on game animals. I'm currently not sure what my gun is running for speed to calculate the drop and energy out that far as a buddy is going to use it for his up and coming 22 ham pig hunt .When he is done in a few weeks and I get the gun back and can run it over the chronograph I'll put up the speed and drop and energy that it gets out to 500 per the strelok app.

Someone got a great steal there !! Ruger tang safety rifles where known to be hit or miss due to poor barrels .But if you find a shooter they are usually great as ruger figured it out and improved there quality. I've got one in 338 win .

I love my cva paramount pro 45 cal .Put a break on it from anarchy outdoors and run 115 gr by weight of blackhorn 209 with the elr powerbelt. The book has 105 by weight then cva said 112 by weight and then it was 115 by weight .There is no stated max like most muzzleloader rifles that are marked magnum rated which is a standard 150 gr by volume charge.Cva has backed off the 115 gr by weight and says no improvement on accuracy and is back to the 105 gr . At 115 my gun is moa or better and I have no problem ringing the steal plate at Rio Salado out to 300 the max I can shoot at the range. I do need to chronograph the thing since increasing the powder but it was at 2500 plus fps before and the accuracy is the same . I figure the extra powder is going to give me a little flatter shot and is worth the extra recoil.

You can order online for powder and have it shipped to your door. If you do switch powder just keep in mind pyrodex and 777 are corrosive and black powder cleaners only no gun oil in the barrel .It will bugger up your powder. Blackhorn you can use what you use to clean and oil your modern rifle.Tip for you run Teflon tape on the threads of the breach plug instead of anti sealed. It cleaner better and is easy to replace.

Can u find the muley? Was in 20 b Sunday for archery pig and found him.Ranged the buck at 328 and was able to close to 253 . Best buck I've seen in there on a pig hunt .Solid 4x4.

Cabelas had blackhorn on the shelf two days ago.You will like the thumb hole stock.I shoot powerbelt in my muzzy .I looked into Thor bullets for a bullet to bore fit but didn't order any yet. Hornady has there new bore driver line and the reviews seem good. The konus scopes are OK they have 2 different scopes the one with the bullet drop is the better of the two.

That's good to know that they are at least on par with scopes in there price range.They do seem to have good options and some decent reviews. I'm curious as to how they handle recoil . My 375 ruger needs new glass and it's a stout round with a good amount of recoil.

I've got a few muzzleloaders and blackhorn is definitely the way to go. Don't discount the cva line I shot my biggest bull to date with a cva wolf. The optima line is good and most hunters will run them .Don't count out the 45 cal muzzleloader it will get you a flatter shooting gun. If you do run pyrodex or 777 note the powder is corrosive and you need to clean your gun after shooting . With those two you need to run black powder only cleaners. Blackhorn is different and you can clean like a modern rifle. If you can find one the paramount pro or htr in 45 cal are great. I've got a pro in 45 and wouldn't hesitate to shoot it out to 3 or 4 hundred if the shot was right. If your close to gilbert I'd meet you at the range and you could shoot the wolf 50 cal or the pro in 45 cal.

Yep right in the shade.i usually don't buy the over the counter tag because I don't see to many deer in here .I guess I should start .I did have a pig step out at the bottom of the draw between me and the deer at 71 yds .Still just a little to far for my liking archery.

I hate it when I can't get the picture to turn the right direction 😒
