Are suppressors allowed in Mexico
Crazymonkey replied to 218buck's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
I'm new to suppressors but I do believe it states if they are legal where you are going to take them you must have all your documents and declare them just as you do with your gun.If you get caught it will probably be a bad day for you if you try and just bring it. -
A bunch of my buddies had tags for this hunt.I heard it was tough .15 tags in camp 3 hit elk and only one recovered. One was gut shot and wasn't given enough time to expire and got jumped and never found again. The other was a high shoulder and didn't get enough to do its job.

Awsome job! The kids hunts are so much fun.Its even better if you have more than one hunter as the get some competition going for who's animal is bigger .Personally I get more enjoyment from seeing the kids learn and hunt than I do on my own hunts.Congrats to a new hunter on a great cow .

The elk were still screaming last Friday and Saturday in 6a mid day. Good luck to everyone.

I was up the 83 in 6a and had 3 opportunities at turkey. The first was getting picked off moving.I parked my sxs past a water hole and did a hike south in between two other water holes the birds use and didn't see anything. On my way back to my sxs I had to pass a third water hole that the dam is along the trail and as I was going by I saw birds.I tried to close the distance and it went to sh*t I was busted .I still got two shots and missed .The first was a bird in the ground at around 70 and the other was in the air at about the same. The second was where I called a bear a few years earlier on a turkey hunt .I cought the birds on my way out .Put the sxs in park and grabbed the gun .I was so focused on the birds I never saw the tree I sent a shot into .The third was a hen in the road that just gave me a look and was gone. The birds were quite and didn't respond to any calls.I only had a day and a half to hunt. The elk were still making noise and I did get into a good group for awhile. Did see a few squirrel but didn't shoot any.Saturday afternoon I was all loaded up and hit the button to start the truck and no bueno.Dead battery .That's twice in two years that's happened in the same spot.Long story short I was able to jump the truck with the sxs and get home .Man I suck with a shotgun.

Anarchy outdoors makes a muzzle break you could add to your muzzy and they do work.I put one on my paramount pro and it shoots 115 gr of blackhorn .It took the recoil down quite a bit.It might work for you with your son.

I had a optima it was a older model and shot great.I've got a wolf and took my first muzzy bull with it.Still have that one .I opted for a paramount pro in 45 cal.My dad has the tc and likes it .I haven't had the knight out yet so I don't have a opinion on that one yet .They are making the optima in a 45 cal i do believe .It will give you a flatter shooting muzzy. The paramount pro is a heavy tank but hits hard as heck and will shoot farther than a 50 cal.

Had it on a 10-22 the other day and at 25 yds I could hear the bullet hit the cardboard from the target stand over the gun blast. -

Ill be up that way for Turkey but this sounds like good fun during the day and I just got a can for my 22 . makes it nice. -
Ill be in 6a .Second time turkey hunting .Last time was the spring hunt last year and called in a bear .Hope it goes better this time.Good luck to everyone.

If you can't tell a wolf from a huskey you probably don't need to be hunting. The dog looks to be between 6 and 8 months old .The article says that the dogs had parvo and were sick.Poor dog didn't deserve that.Huskys are not a aggressive there strong as heck.My husky pup at 6 months could pull me for miles on a skateboard.Hope she gets what she has coming.

Sounded like my deer in 12a about 10 years ago.Matthews bow at 63 pounds and a rage at 18 yds .I put it right on the shoulder and it sounded just like I hit him with a baseball bat.Didn't get any penetration .Figure the rage didn't open .We spent several hours looking and only found a few drops.Keep at it !!!

I was up on the archery hunt and the doe are everywhere.Every road trail or draw we went down had doe in it.

Crazymonkey replied to ctafoya's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
My dad is doing a 6.5 creedmoor but wants a 7-08 upper also .I got him the aero upper and lower .I'm just waiting for the missing barrel and extended mag release button that never made it into the box of all the rest of the parts I ordered.Go figure it was never put in the box even tho the pick ticket said it was there. Now its on backorder and I might get it in late October. -

Where are you located ? -
Just got my first set of suppressors yesterday. What are you guys using for alignment rods? I've seen the blip about drill rod blanks from McMaster carr and the big difference in cost from true alignment rods.
-
The rods are for insuring the suppressor is centered to the bore.If the threads were not cut concentric to the c/l of the bore the bullet could strike a baffle or the end cap and cause some serious damage.
