Mine runs 140 ttsx and r17 or 140 tsx and r15 need to run the mono's for C.A. pig hunts with my dad.

I'm still learning this stuff the barrel will have little effect on brass life but the 40 degree shoulder helps with case stretch and powder volume.Something to do with the angle helping to prevent brass flow there for increasing brass life.

A couple buddies and some good glassing will turn up something.It usually helps to feed them and offer them a drink at the fire afterwards.As for the sxs thing I have yet to find a spot I couldn't get my defender into or out .I bought it to hunt and am not worried about scratching it .Hunting is way more enjoyable with good friends in camp for me.

We talked about my goals for the 280 build and twist rates .I'm still going to build it and will be ordering the proof barrel and trigger in July after my hunt in June.As for prdatars question on twist .I'll have to check as I don't remember off the top of my head.But Keith and I had a conversation about what I'd be shooting and I didn't want to go above the 140's so it was built to run the lighter stuff.The case volume in the Ackley will let me run 168's and 175's with a 9 twist no problem and the brass life will be better I've heard.

I had the perfect 280ai build in my head till that moment where I went Damm that's fast with the 7/08 .It might still have more in it also .Will need more testing to tell.The 280 was to be a light weight in between caliber not a magnum but not a slouch.I don't have the twist to push a heavier bullet with the 7-08 and its heavy probably pushing 14 lbs .I'm now in a spot do I build the 280 or something else?I already have a rem 700 long action waiting to go.

Yep it ran from 3026 to 3042 and was a big surprise.Me being new to most of this it had me thinking I was pushing it to hard .But everything checks out ok .The primers are good and the brass is not stretched at the head .I do need a front rest like yours and a rear bag for sure .So I can take out as much human error out of my group size while I'm testing. Thanks again for letting me check out your stock and scope its definitely the direction I want to go with my 280 ai build.

Outa ten cases I got a avarage of .0003 expansion.I'm set .05 from the lands .I didn't get a stub but I can call Keith and get reamer specs.I'm probably worried about nothing.It was definitely a surprise at how fast it was running.I didn't have a Cronograph to start loads and went old school and just started low and worked for good groups.The first time I Cronographed was Saturday when I was checking out stocks and scopes with Lance .I figured I'd be 2800 to 2900 with a mid range powder charge and was surprised.I've got a hunt in a few weeks but when I'm back ill probably do some more testing with a chronograph this time.

Before the primer shortage I was only loading pistol and 223 and magnum stuff and would pickup a sleeve or two of large rifle primers for my muzzleloader and didn't have any to run .Now I try and keep a brick of each around .My dad being a old school metallic shooter said they were safe to run if you start slow and work up slowly.Not having a chronograph to use for load development I started slowly and found this groups .I'm assuming its the first accuracy node and I stopped there .The accuracy is good the speed is outstanding I've got a hunt in a few weeks but will test more and see what the gun likes.

Was up two weeks ago and they were making noise.We were by mesa tank and they were gobbling.I was calling a bird just to the north across the field from camp.Don't have a tag so just to test some box call work.We saw a hen on the trail to goswick .

Try rebel gun works they got it but it ain't cheep.

I was in 6a a week or two ago and the waterholes by our usual elk camp were the fullest they've been in years.Mesa tank was over full and goswick was about as full as I've ever seen.Summer temps will burn some of that off and the cows from bar d and bar v will have a lot to do with what water is left.I just wish who ever knocked the bar out between the trees to use as a bench around the fire ring would have thought about it first .Its been there for years and gotten used on every elk camp I can remember.My buddy Chuck assures me they will rebuild it once again.

Putting together parts and such for a 280ai and could use some scope advice.First off the rifle will be for hunting,long range eventually.I currently don't get enough time at the range to shoot long but want the ability to do so when I can slow down and put in the range time.I'm currently comfortable out to 400 to 500 . My build specs are a rem 700 long action bdl bottom metal,proof sendero light 26 inch barrel,and a manners -lrh stock ,and a trigger tech trigger.If my math is good I'm at 7.43 pounds and would like to finish in the 9.5 to 10.5 range .I'd figure with the cost of the build I could run a scope in the $3 to 4 k range max.I'm a moa guy and don't like vortex so I figured I've got a good budget and as long as the wife doesn't find out how much I'm planning on spending I'm good to go.Scopes I do have are a few leupold,a ziess or two ,and a few nightforce a shv and a atacr.I forgot the 13 oz can on the end of the barrel .That puts me over 8 pounds no scope.

Did you run the stock bolt and have it fluted? Lri or kampfield custom seems the place for that or did you opt for a ptg?That's a great offer on looking thru the scope .I need to take you up on that .My schedule sucks I'm currently 7 days a week midnight to 1230 Mon-Fri and midnight to 11 sat-sun .Now if l could just put my hands on the stock .Its one thing to pick it out from a picture but it's another to hold and check comfort.Once I get all the parts its off to Keith at Phoenix custom or axis works they bolth are outstanding gun builders.

You can always do like my dad did and just get the whole side of the house extended 4 or 5 feet .He's got a gun storage room the length of the side of the house .Three safes in the living room ,one in the addition,and two more in the garage to boot.The old man is a gun instructor,hunter saftey instructor.In the next house I'm going reinforced walls and door frame and vault door .Way more room and about the same cost as a few safes.

I'm surprised this isn't gone yet.I sold my 2000 rancher on Craigslist in no time .There great dependable machines.

I currently have a Nightforce 5x25x56 atacr on my 7-08 and a ziess on a ruger #1 .Don't have any experience with tangent or zero compromise.I've seen a few nx8 scopes come across the classified and am curious as to why? They seem like a good scope at a good value .Tho I haven't looked thru one yet.I figured I'd get the best scope I can while I'm working my a** off and can afford it.The days of 12 hr shifts and 7 days a week are getting harder and harder to keep up with at my age.

That's some fine gangsta shooting right there .There are a few small things wrong with it though .Dudes hat isn't turned sideways and what's with the pink ear muffs.

I didn't give the wife a choice .I've got a 48 gun liberty down stairs and a 36 gun upstairs in the office.I had no intention of ever putting safes in the garage.

Just another way to get more $$$ and for more people to use it to there advantage to boost those with less odds of getting tags into a more viable position to draw tags.This will ultimately lead to the boosting of applicant's year after year and make it harder for the avarage guy to draw.I'm all for the idea of not loosing your points but the tags for all applicants should be returned .So this won't turn into a 1 person with a lot of points just running up everyone's points then just turning in just there tag in and starting over now for 3 years in a row .What a chance for some good scammers.

I didn't see a compact version but I didn't ask about it.So I'm not sure .Wish remington was still making the 700 youth with the spacer stock.The only other I've heard of is a mossberg youth .
