Pig hunting started off on the wrong foot Friday.I had to work but planned to get out at 830 to make the afternoon hunt by lake pleasant.I'm all loaded up for a weekend out by the lake and I get a call from the wife at 530 am to tell me the smoke detectors are going off again.They went off the day before and we just replaced all the batteries.So I've got to go home and unplug all the detectors.That's a 30 minute run the wrong direction.I got them undone and head out to hunt and now I'm in all the work traffic.I finally get to the spot and get the muzzleloader ready and the contender in 44 mag and can't find my 44 ammo .So just the muzzy to hunt with.Started working draws and had a heard running down the saddle about 100yds in front of me.No shot I'd have to wait for them to come up the other side .I picked one out on the run and shot over the top.So I reload and realize I can't seat the bullet because the ram rod is in my pack .A pig goes running by with in a few feet no shot because I didn't have ammo for the 44 .So a swing and a miss and one that ran right by.At least there is next weekend😁

Good for the hunter that you had the ammo to help him out.I was able to steal a few rounds for the 44 from my friend but only came across a coyote on Sunday and I didn't have a safe direction to shoot.He was on top of a ridge along carefree and the shot would have been in the direction of the road.

Cheating the system to his advantage is a big deal .He should have got his license taken for good and had to forfit all the ill gotten money and had to pay for the animals that were taken under his illegal guidance.Its not much different than poaching.

The new egw rail should be here today then it's off to Phoenix custom rifles for Keith to work his magic.After that ill need another set of rings and then I can mount the other new scope.

For you guys running the long berger bullets in your 280s what do you need for mag box oal ? I've got a tikka m695 and want to do a 280 ai from a 30-06. The only question was if it would have a big enough box to run berger bullets.

Well a trip to see Keith at Phoenix custom rifles and it didn't take long to see that the 2 piece weaver mounts were not going to work .The height was off from front to back and probably screwed up the scope .Were going to go with a egw rail and fix it the right way and as for the scope I have another one just the same new in the box and will send the other back to vortex.I want to make sure the kid who wins gets a gun that will be ready to go and done correctly .

I've got some 20 ga shells that were donated for your kids .2 boxes per kid till there gone.kids must be present to pick up located in gilbert

Pending meeting all the shells are gone .Good hunting to all the boys and girls who got some shells.We went thru 600 shells as it was all I had or could get .At 50 per kid that's 12 kids that might not have had the resources to get out and shoot. Thanks to all that helped with shell donations .

The only ones I could see are on Craigslist even the ones from some of the wrecking yards were more

I did get it out and run a few rounds thru it about 2 week ago and it was drifting zero right and left so I cleaned the bore and was checking the scope and mounts and found the bases were loose and it has a stripped hole .So it's going to the gunsmith and I'm going to have it drilled and tapped to 8-40 .I want to make sure who ever wins gets a gun that is going to be ready to hunt.

First light till around 1130 or when the brats are ready.I usually have the best luck early.

Just some gun history .The gun is a remington 1903 with a serial# of 32925## and the best I can tell is a two groove barrel and was made in 1942 Oct or Nov so its 80 years old and still shooting.
