  1. Jim says: "This is an over-simplified example but gives you an idea of what can be done" a few lines below. Wildlife managers don't use total square mileages of units, they probably use figures estimating vegetation types to account for the appropriate habitats of each species. Plus by using gridlines they would account for that, flying straight gridlines over a section of area would account for the different variations of terrain. Flying strictly where the animals are would give them an estimate that would be inflated, which would defeat the purpose also.

    Hunting as a right

With the legistative branch managing our wildlife, where are most of them elected from? Will the major population areas have the most pull? Do we really want elected officials to have a say when they could be swayed by groups with influence? We may have the advantage now, what happens in the future? Looks like a stituation that may end up bad just as easily as good for sportsmen.

    My December Buck

Great story to go along with a great buck. Reminds me of a quote: "tough times don't last, tough people do" Nothing wrong in reaching your limits, it's what happens afterwards that is the mark of a man. You sir are a man among men. This is so much more than just a hunter and a deer, it's what's great about being alive and living when a lot of people are afraid of the world at large. My hats off to you.

How big does he have to be!

In my opinion, there are no lesser animals. I'm going to probably be the only one here who's going to say that whatever legal animal steps into range. Whether it's going to be a spike mulie or monster coues, either one of them is going into the freezer. On another point I'm not against trophy hunting of any kind, hunting is hunting no matter how or what you choose to hunt. This is just the way I choose to go about my business. It's the way that was taught to me and that's the way I would pass it on if I do. But, hey I am hoping the monster coues is the one though.

    anybody know these guys?

I agree. If I remember corectly don't some of the western states wildlife agencies also revoke hunting rights if they were lost in other states. Is AZ a part of that, anyone know? Yes, I believe it is 14 states. Bob I believe it's more than that now. Most of the western states and indian reservations are all in the pact. More like 30+ states and reservations combined.

    hybrid?

A g&f bioligist told us at a seminar that the glands are the only way to tell for sure besides doing a dna test. They noted that hybrid characterists could go both ways on a deer. Just by going off that pic it would seem too hard to tell at this point.

    Some consistent visitors.

Where I live on the west side, we have a little group come in every couple days or so. On tuesday night just as I was taking my dog out, I noticed a young lady walking towards her apartment when she disappeared between two buildings. Not even a second later she came running out full tilt with a sow running full boar right behind her. I yelled out which distracted the javi into turning away from her as she was jumping on the trunk of her car. The javi was no more than 5 feet behind her at that point. The javi stood guard behind a dumpster for a couple of minutes, while the girl caught her breathe sitting on her car. I managed to move the javi without getting it riled up again. After walking her to her building she said thanks, but I'm not sure how lucky she really was. It got my adrinaline going for sure.

    Broadheads?

I use thunderheads 125 grn. IMO though, a good setup with square arrows and a little broadhead tuning should do the trick.

    2009 bivy hunt

Congrats on a great hunt. Thanks for sharing it with us.
  14. I was reading a book about one of my grandfathers and it had this pic in it. It's an achieved photo, but I thought it was pretty neat. The book is nice also, it described the sacred way of hunting from long ago.

    Found this in a book.

Sorry about the late reply. Here's the book. The link is to a preview where you can read parts of it. The hunting part is in the preview. I don't remember which page though. enjoy A Navajo legacy : The life and teachings of John Holliday

  19. Now that's funny! Bob +1 What do they do with the meat? Donate it to the homeless? haven't you ever heard of gato taco's? haha thanks that was funny. Isn't this something they were talking about about a few months ago? I'm glad they finally did it. I wonder how many sheep it took out before they caught up to it.
  20. Holy cow! So was that sucker dragging his head gear on the ground as he was walking around... Thanks for sharing the pics and congrats...

Camo choices in Sierra vista az ?

Natural Gear (cameleon) or kings desert shadow. Nature gear is nice since you can get t shirts for like ten bucks and pants for less than 40.

    looking for e-advice

http://www.redhawk-archery.com/walkback.html This is a great explantion with pictures. Thank RR, I'll be using this as a reference from now on. One thing I would mention when moving your rest is that it doesn't take much to move your center shot. I would say move it an 1/8 of an inch at a time. Other than that try it and let us know how it worked out.

You can do this only if his bow is tuned to start with. Which means the downward trend the arrows take would have to be a straight line down. The center shot would have to be set first. The way I set my center shot is walk back tuning like the other posters have suggested before. It should work though. Form and tuning is what may throw you guys off just as any other tuning methods. I understand what your trying to get at with making sure checking the gaps of the arrow. I usually just set my 20 pin then walk back tune before setting my other pins. Once I know my center shot is on then I'll set my next pin and so forth. Once I'm done with all my pins then I check the gaps within my sight to see if there are any inconsistances there.
