  1. If you're getting accuracy out of the straight fletched ones then stick with it. If you have a bow that is slightly out of tune then helical will stabilize it quicker but it comes at a cost. That centrifugal force he is talking about doesn't come from nowhere, it robs energy from the arrow thus causing the change in trajectory. It also makes them louder in air. You are correct in the lost of speed and depending on the fletching some sound, otherwise a setup that's more forgiving would seem optimal in this case especially since it seems he maybe a newer shooter. Otherwise he's at the mercy of the arrow if he ever makes a bad shot, especially out in the field on game. The trade off in fps would probably be minimal, I'm pretty positive he'll still would be well in range of the ke needed for any game in AZ.
  2. You should try to shoot with as much helical fletching as possible. The spinning creates centrifugal force which makes for a better stabalized arrow.

Should I switch to a drop away?

You also have to include bow torque with that as well. A wb will enhance bow torque if for any reason it happens on a shot. You may shot perfect at the range but get into the field with buck fever you never know what's gonna happen come go time.

    D-loop length

Where you able to shorten your release? The best case would have you using the crease under your first knuckle from the hand to touch the trigger. This would allow you to relax your release hand at the shot.

  8. Ok so to help with any issues with this next season, I think it's only fair that since I will be in 27 this year that I would ask for everyones hunnyhole locations and stand placements in advance and probably along with any watering holes that they will be hunting for lets say the archery season, maybe rifle season and hopefully archery elk. In this way I will be able to in advance to avoid all such places, you know just so I don't bother you or your spots. GPS coordinates will work but you could also post a map with markers on it like maybe from google maps, bing maps or caltopo (just suggestions) or any other software you use. Pics of maps will work as well posted on this thread. You know descriptions of the animals you've been scouting will help out as well, so you know I won't shoot to buck or elk you've been eyeing all year. Pics with locations like the ones described above would really help as well just so I know which one's not to go after. Also I'll be camping somewhere out there during the year (I'll post coordinates), so if anyone of you comes along feel free to some food in the coolers, drinks on ice (FYI I don't drink booze) and a nice nap in the shade while I'm out running after the animals you all haven't claimed yet. So thanks for your help and see you all out there.

134 Yard Archery Shot on 6x6

Totally my bad. I just didn't want to give the unit away so was looking to use another detail of the kill. I'm fairly new to hunter forums... Heck of an learning experience...

    .270 Effective Range

Don't know who decides what a human range for rifle loads are legally, but between the rifle and archery the difference lies in the projectile. The typical arrow can be more than 6 to 10 times heavier than the bullet. That's why arrows can kill humanly with less speed than the rifle, the rifle bullet needs to be going faster to gain the momentum necessary to make the same kill.

It's probably the long draw model.

    If it ain't broke...

Willing to bet that what you gain in centripetal force you lose in arrow speed because of the kickers on the vanes. In theory it's a good concept, except that you may see the speed loss at longer distances. Also if you don't mind the hmm as well.
  15. Great video, congrats on the great buck and hunt. Good job Loving the soundtrack....

    If it ain't broke...

Yeah, just have to tune it back in. Did you change your fletch colors to brighter ones? If so what you may be seeing is the fletching spinning on the end of the arrow. Sometimes there's an illusion that your arrows are sketchy, but what your seeing is the fletching. Bareshaft tuning will really tell you what happening.

    AZGF what are you thinking?

It would be a complete injustice to the deer population for them not to use all the data at their disposal. Again if they want to get a complete accounting of the harvest they need to have a 100% reporting of ALL the hunting seasons. I know that in Tenn. you must not only report your harvest, you need to take it to the Tenn. DNR. Only after you have done that you can get another deer tag there. If that type of reporting was done here they might get a more complete accounting of the harvest and the final survivability rate at the end of the seasons. Now having said that, I am not saying they need to do this exactly as Tenn. DNR does, just do something similar. That would be tough to do, especially down here. If a guy takes an animal near safford he'd have to loop around tucson or mesa. There's just not enough offices or people to take those kinds of counts and to mention the hunters putting in the additional miles. And I just live a qtr mile from the one here in tucson Even the mandatory reporting is on an honor system. I really don't see how they could make the counts reliable enough even to have them mandatory without increasing they're manpower 10 fold to do so.

    Family Dispute

I would say more than 10% more like 30% Were talking pretty much the whole middle part of the state on the Rim to the grand canyon to the NM border. From there north to the Navajo rez and south to mt graham an all around there. That's a huge area and way more that 14000 square miles.

    CC Hits

That's probably not G&F. Once they process the charge your bank or credit card company takes control from there. I would call them first since they would probably have a better handle on that. G&F wouldn't have say once they push the charge through to your bank.
