I have now shot 6 groups and they all were 1/4 inch. Will be testing them at 300 this evening. Have a bunch loaded for a ladder test. Hoping 41.9 is my load if not a little tweaking will need to be done.

I will donate 50.00 to CWT.com for both cots

Everytime i see obuttma it makes me want to freakin pull my hair out. He is the most annoying and goofy sob i have ever seen. I wish he would resign.

So far my best group was a 1 hole group with 3 shots but I need to do a ladder test at 500 (can't since the forest is closed) so I will have to do it at 300. Hopefully I can get a good read at 300.

The creedmoors are a tad bit faster and with the sharp degree shoulder it ignites the powder better. almost any caliber that has a sharp degree shoulder will ignite powder and contain pressures better. Most people are going to the 6.5 cm for its ability to seat the bullets as far out as you would like and still have LOTS of room in your magazine. I researched the 6.5 calibers for 6 months and when all was said done I sold everything I had to get 2 of them. They are that bad butt, Even factory rifles will maintain .5 moa or better. I can get out to about 1400 yards before I drop off the supersonic scale and still be maintaining 600 fps at 1300 yards with 140 gn bergers.

Stock is an HS Precision PSV118. This stock will fit the bolt release on bottom or top side. Yes a 6.5 creedmoor is short action but like others have said you can build a short action caliber on a long action but can not build a long action caliber on short . Groups are coming together still in the load development stage. Should have one dialed in by tomorrow. I will post pictures when I get done. I ave saved all targets. I can now run 20 rounds with NO copper in barrel which is almost impossible to do with a factory barrel. I have another 6.5 creedmoor but its the model 11 long range hunter. I will be doing all the same upgrades to it soon. I may start to build these and sell them if I can get my ffl. I have my gunsmith certificate. Just really don't want to take the next step untill our president gets out...

I have the magnetospeed. I can tell you this much I can promise the magnetospeed will smoke all the competition. I can set mine up in less than 1 minute and also no need for waiting for that PERFECT day to go shoot it could be raining sun shining or even nighttime and it will still work. You can set the bullet type for copper jacket lead core, copper jacket metal core, or copper. You can also adjust for whats called custom. You can even diagnose your shots from shot to shot. I have fully fallen in love with mine. If you would like to try mine before you buy one you are more than welcome to bring your gun and shoot with it. Everyone at the range always wants to shoot with it when they see it. I can promise you I have tried all the chronos and some get really nerve racking trying to obtain CORRECT speeds. I use to go out one day and get a reading but the next day get a completely different reading when I did not change anything. Then go out the following day and I was at the same as the first time. With the magneto every time I go out (as long as my load doesn't change) then it is always spot on. Here is their website http://www.magnetospeed.com/ Here is a review (not mine)

which pack is the best all around for hunting?
willhunt4coues replied to Coues Kid's topic in Other Hunting Gear
I have the Sitka Bivy 30 and can fit a deer fully deboned, hyde, and head plus my tripod and binos. A lot of room and VERY light plus the frame is nicer than most packs allowing your back to not sweat. -
Call me 928-200-0166 I have found them online but again I can get it cheaper directly through Savage.

You want me to order one from Savage? I can order direct. I paid 20.00 for mine.

Dial Drop Determination Questions?
willhunt4coues replied to Bird Dog's topic in Long Range Shooting
You can call any manufacturer and ask them what the G7 is of your bullet. The G7 profile is based off a sharp nose and boat tail when the G1 is based off a sharp nose and flat base. You can use the G1 but you will only get close. The G7 profile is the best to use for any long range solutions. Most companies still use the G1 profile because of the point that the G1 is a higher number. The reason why they did this is because if the customer. When you go buy bullets you are looking for the bigger number. If they used the CORRECT profile G7 then that number is a lot lower making you believe that the bullet is no good. My G7 on berger 6.5 140gn is .313 and the G1 is .612. I shoot long range a lot and would NEVER go to a ballistics turret because of the simple fact that conditions are always changing. Like others have said get you a Kestral and a ballistics app for your phone and you will be set. Google is your friend. Learning is even more fun. Get on Google and look up the difference between the G1 standard and the G7 standard. Also look up what others are using for long range (ie ballistics turrets, standard moa turrets, or standard mil turrets) you will be surprised. Its a lot of math involved but even more fun when you get out and enter everything that you can and hit a target with 1 shot at 1000+ yards. Applied ballistics is another dvd, book, app that you can look into. They will tell you how to obtain your BC by shooting 3 different distances. They will also explain into detail what your hit percentage is at different ranges and wind age. What do you have to lose. Have fun and be safe. -
Anyone got a good load for 338 lapua?
willhunt4coues replied to CWpredator's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Try the Hogdon extreme line of powders and you will not have to worry about temperature stability. -
When you said 45 to 100 I was thinking bolt LOL. I have never seen a bolt HANDLE past 45.00. I have seen bolts from 45 to 100 depending on manufacture. LOL. I have 2 of these and they work great and cost very little http://www.midwayusa.com/product/193602/savage-arms-1-piece-bolt-handle-assembly-savage-10-110-right-hand-large-knob-steel-matte?cm_vc=ProductFinding

Heck ya like rcdinaz said re barrel it. It will still be cheaper to almost fully customize it with the barrel of your choice than to sell it and get a new gun which will not shoot as good as the custom. 6.5x284 will surely get you out there to as far as you want. Or you could go with 6.5x06 i heard those are a blast too shoot. I know the new 26 nosler thats what you should re barrel it for. -
Ya just the bolt handle it is a plug and play. But bolt heads and body need to be head spaced. My bad I thought you were talking about the bolt body itself.
-
Chad When changing a bolt or barrel it will never just be a plug and play. The head space HAS to be checked no matter what. I bought a new bolt head for my bolt and just even changing that changed the head space. Not much but it did change. The head space is one thing you do not chance. So when changing anything with the bolt or barrel always check just to be safe.

I have had a .308 shooting 175 gn bullets and a 7mm shooting 168gn bullets both were more than 1.5 lbs difference. There is a lot that can play factors in this heck they could have even been using a 7mm that was heavier. Anyways I know for a fact what I have experienced from MULTIPLE rifles and to me a .308 I can shoot over 50 rounds in a day without any arm soreness compared to a 7mm I get about 10 rounds and I have to put it away. I have moved on and sold all my guns for 2 6.5 Creedmoors that I and my son (7years old) can shoot all day and be very precise and accurate. -

fyi Bubbacoues this is what I paid for my stuff: Shilen Stainles select match 6.5 cm 1;8 twist- 339.00 northland shooter supply (NSS) trued barrel nut- 28.00 NSS trued recoil lug- 27.00 NSS barrel nut wrench- 25.00 NSS action wrench- 60.00 rifle basix 14oz to 3lbs trigger- 85.00 Northland Shooters supply was the cheapest and easiest to deal with. Everything was in stock and shipped the same day. They carry Shilen and Criterion barrels and from what I have read from others that have done reviews on prefit barrels these 2 manufactures are the best. I was looking at the McGowen but then changed my mind when I heard poor reviews from recent buyers. Could not find a negative review on the Shilen or Criterion barrels. I am really interested to see how good of a shooter that barrel you have is. Please post up some pics here or shoot me over a PM. The Savages are soo much fun to work on. I really did not need the stuff I ordered but why not I wanted the best of the best. Now I have 3650.00 invested in my rifle and I have not done the bolt yet.

How do you figure a .308 is the same recoil as a 7mm 8OWHUNT247? -
WOW nice job. I just ordered me an HS Precision stock, Shilen barrel 6.5 creemoor, NSS Barrel nut, NSS action wrench, NSS barrel nut wrench, Rifle basics trigger, Mason G/No go gauge, NSS recoil lug, and kiff lambeth complete bolt assembly. Should be just what I am looking for. I love my rifle as stock but want it to be a mostly custom rifle.
