Custom build. What caliber would you go with?
JLG replied to briant_az's topic in Long Range Shooting
I am not a techy guy when it comes to custom anything, but I had a custom built by Dave Arganbright of Whitecloud Gunsmithing 2 years ago. It is a 338RUM, with a Burris Black Diamond, set up with turrets. It shoot a 200 gr Accubond, that Dave dialed in before I recieved the gun back. I want to upgrade the scope to a nightforce NXS, that said, between my friends and I we have taken 13 Big Game animals with it over the last two fall seasons. On shots from 154 out to 600 yards, it's a nice tool to have. I like it so much I want to have a second one done in 338RUM. Take Care, JLG. -

Rugermack, so far the only interest is from folks in southern Az. Tempting, bunch of brass, powder, bullets and primers. Have them all boxes, ready for someone to say they will take it, Thanks JLG.

I am in Buckeye on the weekends, Tempe during the week, Thanks JLG.

Man you guys keep great records. Off the top of my head been putting in since 1981. Probably have had 7 cow tags, 3 any elk tags and 4 bull tag all rifle. So 14 tags in 31 years. I have also had two antelope rifle tags, 1985 and 2001, Take Care JLG.

Agreed, make it simplier than that, and just make getting your $7.50 application fee, with a correctly filled out online application the criterion, very simple, JLG.
-
I think for Elk, Antelope and Deer draws I will go back to paper and do a money order, until this is squared away. I am too old to be rooked out of my loyalty point for five years. Take Care, JLG.

I think that if you get your application in online, on time, get your application done correctly and they take your $7.50 that should gurantee you a bonus point and keep your loyalty point alive, no matter the outcome later. If this continues like this I see many people every year caught up in this, which I see as wrong. Not doing your application correctly is on you, not having enough funds to cover a check or on your card is on you. A banking error or fraud is out of anyones control. Fraud is very prevelent and we can all fall victim to this with no recourse. The other problem we have as hunters are folks that dont agree with our life style, who's to say that the credit analysis watching your card isn't a card carrying member of PETA? I stand firm that this should be addressed. JLG.

Help a friend on this hunt last year and he took a very nice unbroken 6 X 6 opening day. It was a nice hunt and he was happy with the result. How old is your son? Take Care JLG.

I think this is a huge injustice. Honestly worst than not getting drawn. With my loyalty point I go into every elk draw with two points. I would hate to have a bank error or fraud, costs me a 2nd bonus point for five years. Huge price to pay and an issue that that needs to be rectified, Take Care JLG.

Found some @ Sportsmans Warehouse, Thanks Metau, for the info, JLG.

Anybody have a set of these they want to trade other dies, brass or reloading supplies for? Must be SMALL BASE die set,in .223, Thanks JLG.

Picked up some small rifle and small pistol primers yesterday @ sportsmans warehouse on I17. They had only had 2000 each but they had them. Limit was a 1000 per. JLG.

I will take it, will send PM with contact info, Thanks JLG.

Hawkeye, as convient as the online process is I am starting to think going paper, early with a money order is the way to go, the rest of it put to many possibilties of error into it. If they to go all online in the future they need to guarentee you atleast get abonus point when they take your $7.50 for the application fee, that way your loyaty point is safeguarded too, JLG.

A real issue and concern with using the online process and credit cards, is either real or supposed fraud that the bank percieves @ the time funds are taken by game and fish. Not only do you not get drawn and not get a bonus point for the year but you also lose your loyalty bonus point. To my knowledge there is no recourse to reverse that by game and fish. A friend of mine believes when they take your $7.50 for your application fee that that should insure you maintain your loyalty point and guarantee your bonus point for that year reguardless of the rest of the outcome in the draw. Getting rooked out of two bonus points because banking errors or fraud is a huge price to pay and needs to be address by game and fish. I am sure many people are having this happen each year. Take Care JLG.
