Hi Doug, do you have an idea of what the price will be on the eyepieces? Do you plan on bring any in? When will they be available? Thanks, JLG.

I have an 80HD ATS, I use it alot because my eyes aren't what they where. I find stuff with my 15's and than use the 80 to bring it in close. I realized yesterday when I was out, that wearing my glasses made a big difference in clarity, which honestly was disappointing. Wearing glasses cuts down on your field of view. My next purchase is going to be lazer surgery. I do like the ATS, because you can have the scope set lower on your tripod and it helps keep it more stable. Its a nice scope and I like having it, in my pack of tricks. What is the difference in price? I bought mine from www.bearbasin.com as a package deal, with a Velbon Carbon fiber tripod and a few other goodies, check them out, Take Care, JLG.

Its not really luck, more tradition now, I have a columbia sports wear floppy fishing hat, that I wear either hunting or fishing. I have had it a couple of years, heavily sweat stained and abit out of shape, but almost perfect for keeping the sun out of my eyes, when glassing, Take Care, JLG.

Javelina Reservation tag unit C question, Apache Res.
JLG replied to stalkincoues's topic in Other Big Game
I have had that tag the last two years for rifle. We hunted near Eagle Creek in the South East corner of the unit. The first year we killed pigs, last year we had our chances, but missed. I also had a chance at a lion and just knock a few hairs off his back. I am probably going to do this again this year, but I may hunt unit A, I helped a friend out on an antelope hunt this year and he wants to do the hunt as a payback. Apache Gold Casino, 10 minutes to unit A, I will take that. To answer your question, try Bonito Creek in the very South East Corner of C. If I was hunting there this year that would be were I would hunt, Good Luck, JLG. -
I did a charter with 10 of my guys in September. Point Loma, it was a tuna trip 3 day and the boat caught 266 fish. The boat was the Bright and Morning Star. I have a friend that has been fishing with them for years and has nothing but good things to say. We had a great trip, Take Care, JLG.

King's Anvil Ranch doesn't allow them and the Wildlife Refuge doesn't allow them. I hunt 36C alot and I like the foot-access only areas, it cuts down on the amount of folks, your up against. I don't have an ATV and I have not felt like it was a hinderance in hunting down there. Some of the areas that lead to foot-access you could actually drive a car too. Slow, but you could do it, Good Luck on your hunt, JLG.

Christian, I will be down there Friday about 7:00 p.m. until Sunday sometime. I am helping a couple of friends out. Send me a PM about were you will be camped, I may swing by, Take Care, JLG.

There is an area near the Elkhorn Ranch that gets alot of people camping around it. I camp there alot on my 36C hunts and I feel pretty safe doing so. One thing I did notice last year, is that the MinuteMen have seemed to push the UDA's into the foot access only areas of 36C. We would see a fair amount of UDA, down by 286, now it seems that they are taking the routes were they are less accessible to the Minutemen, which is the moutains now. I counted 26 on a deer hunt I was on last year. After they went through I wanted to see if the route they took was well used. It was about a foot wide, 1" deep and covered in tennis shoe tracks. Once you start seeing a fair about of trash along the trails, than you know it is a popular route for UDA's. They will, it seems try to stay close to the base of the mountains to avoid the huge ups and downs, but it also depends on the existing trails in the area too. When I first saw the "26" they were in a wash that gave them a bunch of cover. I had walked through the same wash earlier in the day and it had alot of human sign in it, trash and evidence of the occasional camp. I have started sleeping in the backseat of my F-250 Crewcab. I lock all the doors and keep my 9MM close. Its pretty comfortable and makes me feel safe to an extent. Although I guess those folks can break into a truck pretty quickly, which right up until now, I didn't give much thought too, Hmm, JLG.

I stay out all day. I usually have burnt alot of energy getting to were I want to be and I don't want to do that twice in one day. I take plenty of snacks and water. I also get my naps in when I am out there. All day, JLG.

I am helping out a friend of mine in one of my old honeyholes in unit 22. Its not my tag, but this area is totally suited for "Team Swaro" so I am excited about glassing him up a nice buck. He is a great friend and I enjoy spending time with him, should be a great weekend, Take Care, JLG.

Anyone see any hard horn bucks yet???
JLG replied to Webber's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Saw 10 bucks this past weekend. 2 in velvet and 8 that were not. All mulies north west of Prescott, Take Care, JLG. -
COUESAZ, Honestly, hunting the Elk in these units is a tough transition for me. As a living breathing person that has drank from the Swaro Koolaid, it is tough for me not to climb to the highest peak in the land and glass all day, (That is how we saw the 30" 4x4). When I had this tag two years ago I would do that glassing the open spaces wonder why I was seeing no elk in the most awesome looking country and than go walk the open spaces afterward not to see one new fresh sign. Seeing a two or three year old pile, was an accomplishment. Only when I got into the thick stuff with the 100% canopy cover did I start seeing sign. On the glassin' Deer, based on the facted that we saw them before they saw us and we didn't see an elk, I am thinkin the Elk maybe own Swaro glass and have younger eyes, the deer on the otherhand may have been going with the Tascos. On the driving deer, saw these at night, going from were we hunting on Friday to were we were camping Friday night. They were out stretching their legs and must have had their truck parked back in the woods. If you were gauging what they drove based on their look and age. I would say about a 1976 Datsun 4 banger, but could be wrong, Take Care, JLG.

Nice bull and great pictures. I have a LO hunt myself for cows. We were out last weekend and heard some bugling bulls, heard branches break and twigs snap, but couldn't lay eyes on any elk. Your right about the LO's, the elk that live in these units, don't like open spaces. When you find sign they are in 100% canopy cover, oaks, junipers and manazinta. I had this same hunt two years ago and glassing did me no good, it was only when I switched to still hunting through the really thick stuff that I got a couple of opportunities, from what we saw last weekend nothing has changed, they love the thick stuff and stay away from the wide open country. I say they got their BS at MIT, Masters at Yale and Dr. at Harvard, smart critters. We have 3 days this weekend to get it done. Got a plan, will see if it pays off, Take Care, JLG. PS. Did see a 30" 4 x 4 mule, ranged him at 590 yards could have got to 300, if we had a tag. He was a nice buck, for the weekend we saw 10 mulie bucks. 6 glassin and 4 driving. The weather was awesome as well.

I have a friend interested in doing the Oct. hunt on the San Carlos. Right now they have A,B & D tags available. I was thinking maybe a B tag and doing spot/stalk off the Black River. Anybody have any feedback or words of wisdom on this? I just started hunting the San Carlos for javelina two years ago, but I have only hunted the southeast portion of C. Thanks in advance, JLG.

I have an old set of Baush & Lombs that I have glassed up a fair amount of critters with in its day. I cracked one of the lens several years ago, they are cloudy and not aligned right. I would like to get them repaired for old times. I also have a pair of Romainian Military Binos that are pretty good but one of the barrels needs some work to keep them aligned. Is there anybody out there that does repairs? Thanks, JLG.
