    Looks promising

Apache-Sitgreaves lifting all fire restrictions beginning tomorrow morning. Fair amount of rain received so far with a good forecast for the next 10 days.

    Another Drought Year...

Saw a bull yesterday (unit 1) that was already a 5 point and super wide…..fronts were at least 18-20” long…..he may not finish out great, but he still will be a dandy when he’s done. Bigger than most people will ever kill, IMO. Not all doom and gloom.

    27 road conditions

Overall pretty good. Most are snow free and mud free…..except the upper elevations have a few drifts remaining…...but there’s not many of them left.

    Suggestion for 6A Archery

jackJ: I would also suggest some realistic expectations on the size bull you’re willing to take. That unit has a lot of elk but they also kill a lot of bulls between all the seasons. As such, the age class doesn’t always reach the level of its true potential. In my experience, a true 300-330” bull is a shooter there.

    Suggestion for 6A Archery

Not really……not enough roads in that country for most of today’s hunters

    Suggestion for 6A Archery

Don’t be afraid to look around in the lower S/E portion of the unit……I didn’t see too many folks last year on my hunt there.

    Newbs and non resident dont's

Odocoileus virginianus couesi The Coues whitetail deer — a Southwest subspecies of the common Eastern whitetail — was first scientifically described by American Army physician and noted naturalist, Dr. Elliot Coues, while stationed at Fort Whipple, Arizona, 1865 to 1866. Hence the Coues label. “Cows” is technically the proper pronunciation, though most who hunt them pronounce it “cooz.” Locally the deer is often referred to as Arizona whitetail, or “fantail” (due to their habit of flaring their large tails when alarmed). 😁

What did he officially come out at (measure)?

Saw this on Instagram...what’s your take?

How does a draw stop that from continuing (if it even does to the level you’re suggesting)? Are drawn hunters more honest and forth giving than non-draw hunters? I’m confused by your rationale.

    Youth bow question

If he’s not going to wear a patch over his dominate (right) eye or shoot with it closed, he will need to shoot a left handed bow to ensure consistent accuracy. Some target archers have had success with wearing a patch over their dominate eye while shooting opposite handed, but honestly, if he’s left eye dominate, have him begin with a left handed bow and he should reach accuracy much easier, IMO.

    3B Late Muzzy bull elk

Ha….there’s still elk and bulls in the pines. Saw three this am.

    3B Late Muzzy bull elk

Everywhere there is ponderosa forest….so basically the southern end of the unit. Doesn’t mean the elk are gone, just changed their ‘normal’ movement.
