DID I JUST POACH A BUCK THANKS TO GOHUNT?

You did the right thing at seems like you have learned your lesson the hard way. It says a lot to come clean like that! It is a shame you paid for bad info and thanks for the link. Unfortunately, now that you have posted this for the whole world you get to deal with the CWT judges and whoever else. 😒 Then again, hopefully it will prompt someone else to verify open/closed units. Limited Entry call today

Dang, I should have answered my phone today and not assumed it was a robocall! LOL. Congrats you got a sweet tag! Jeff

    Starting over, kind of…

40 years here!? Wow, I'm sure you have made a dent in that time. Good luck back in Iowa. Jeff
  5. Last year I had 2 WT tags and had high expectations. Hunted 5 days in New Mexico and 13 days in AZ. Since my expectations were high I ate both tags but don't regret the time I was able to spend with my kids on a couple of days, including a great backpack hunt with my daughter....priceless really. That Mexico buck will be very difficult to beat even on San Carlos (btw that is a smoker deer!). What are you hunt dates in December? That will be your best tag, IMO, and I would hold out for a big buck on that one! I don't know anything about 33 and only a little about 16, which like others have said, and I agree, it will be tough. Although, with a guide, it is increasing your chances. Good luck and keep us posted. Jeff

Lakes filling up from the rain??

I am sure the mafia will be happy if Lake Mead rises at all. LOL! The Gila running through Safford has been going strong for over a month and the Frisco finally jumped up today, so I'm sure San Carlos is up. One thing I noticed around here is that even with all the rain some dry washes are still dry or only have a tiny stream probably because the ground has been so darn dry for so long it is soaking up every drop and not allowing running water. We'll see what comes of the "AREA FLOOD WATCH" from Friday morning to Saturday night. Jeff

    Fatal 4x4 accident “stuck truck”

Very sad. Great video and always stay out of the line of fire! Jeff
  9. Being from Kearney I imagine you could get lots of scouting trips in. The "panhandle" of 31 is really close to you and is a the furthest from me. I have hunted 31 almost exclusively over the years for WT and have never made it off the Pinalenos (everyone calls it Mount Graham)! LOL. Aravaipa, the Santa Teresa's interest me but I have never made it over there. Don't be a stranger and welcome to CWT noahwarren18! Jeff

    Scope Elevation Specifications

Thanks for the confirmation. I do need to get to the range but that sounds right! Jeff
  11. Need a little help with some specifications on the Mark 3 I recently bought. The specs say I have 15 Mils of elevation adjustment and that the dial only travels 5.6 Mils. I need help understanding this. My brain is telling me that I should have 15 MILS to dial but that is not what the turret will do, it is certainly 5.6 MILS with a hard stop. Thanks for the help. Jeff

    Any Cameras Out There?

No cameras where I am. Haven't been out much but that is going to change soon. 😁

    Scope Elevation Specifications

I think I figured it out.... The 15MILS of "Elevation Adjustment Range" comes from 5.6 MILS of dial adjustment plus 10 MILS using the reticle (I know 15.6 actually). Correct?

    NM unit 24 coues

Glass every little opening you can! Yes, it is thick but glass into the thick stuff anyway. Be patient because your glassing skills will be tested! I believe the tadpole ridge/sheep corral area burned 2 years ago. I wanted to check it out last year but never made it. I have glassed some of the area from the other side on my 2018 hunt and all I could find was mulies. I would stick with your plan with a backup spot or 2. Also, I would re-figure still hunting up a valley, those deer will see you or smell you first and be long gone. Glassing is the best plan. Jeff

    Velvets

Pretty sure your eyes deceived you. The date stamp is correct on the train camera picture and very typical to see mature bulls hard horn at the beginning of August. Jeff

    Colorado Draw Results

Thanks for the info Cody. When I lived in Fort Collins it seemed like bucks were getting rutty in mid November. My ex wife killed jumbo buck just outside of town on 3rd rifle that I have 8 points and would prefer a 3rd or 4th rifle tag. Crazy how the point requirement jumps 2 or 3 fold for the later tags. Might look at unit 40. Jeff
