ok i live 150 miles away in show low. several neighbors have places down at the estates. 1) ramps open cholla, marina, windy hill, grapevine and schoolhouse. 2) tonto pass available at many, many locations but 3) the private company that monitors the passes is furloughed-no tickets for parking at open lots. not legal advice. lee

OK I could not resist a google search. turns out i hunted this pretty good up until 2001 and never saw any dinos or mustangs. mostly jackrabbits and mule deer. read where the migration onto the property was in 2013 and most have since departed. good one.

good friend and hunting buddy. Heber, AZ 2008 at Independence Day church event-was asked to go get more soda. he got his father to clear the parking area of kids but it still happened to his little angel. no charges but it tore the family apart. lee -

not quite bizarre-more like local ambiance. bizarre starts when town bucks and bulls move onto someones driveway or carport and make the humans honk to park. or when a lion follow them into town.

trigger is just fab! yellowtail are a jack and the meat is darker and fattier but still excellent. great sashimi(hamachi). baya and pinto are like atlantic cod only better. the rock bass(spotted sand bass) are great in bigger sizes but why?-same habitat as triggers. sardinero(leopard grouper) are just fun as heck on bass tackle with fish up to 15lbs or so. let 'em go! so much fun and how 'bout those teeth? swim free fishy come back to play again lol. sierra macs are just for ceviche they don't last. i am not a big fan of corvina but there are some white sea bass down to lobos or so. lee ps if some mex fishermen are headed your way they generally are not pirates. they just want to trade you some lobster and scallops for ice.

"i have no affiliation of any kind with the big lake concession." I NEED TO GO CAMPING. I don't know about you, but this is true for my family. Just getting away from it all, so you can breathe again, can change everything. The phone has been ringing like crazy and I am answer 25 to 30 emails a day. I decided maybe I should post an update to hopefully answer many of your questions. The roads to Big Lake are scheduled to be opened April 15th. Currently Big Lake is completely iced over, except for the small cove by the dam. We are supposed to get high winds this weekend, which will help break up the ice on the lake. If the lake is free of ice, the store and Marina will be open Easter weekend. If the lake is not free of Ice the store/marina will not be open until April 15th. Please remember, just like any other year, disperse camping will be the only camping, until May. NO FACILITY's will be available and EVERYTHING is "pack it in and pack it out". Currently the campgrounds are still scheduled to open before May 15th. If that changes, we will update facebook. We, like everyone else, are taking the CDC recommendations to keep things clean and safe. We believe that getting out in the forest with your family is the best way to do that. But that can also bring problems to our area. So what are we doing to avoid this? We ask that, when at the store/marina, you be understanding and follow the 6 foot distance rule. Only send 1 person in at a time to avoid crowding our small store. I know it's easy to get away from "life", news, the "world" and forget about the struggles, when at Big Lake. That's what Big Lake is all about, but we must still take the precautions to maintain safety. Thank you for understanding.
