We all make choices. If i see a wounded bull and nobody around, I'm shooting it. If it's got an extra hole in it and you show up, I'll help you work it up and pack it out. Sorry things went south for your pops 6A.

Your tag is no longer valid after the end of season. Go back the day after and finish it off; illegal taking of wildlife. Nothing wrong with an animal killed and tagged during season that's being transported afterwords. Some states do have a time limit for transporting game after close of season though. In those cases they give you a transport tag.

Having used a skidder to pull myself out on more than one occasion I tend to err on the cautious side now days. Or have a quad in the back.

I have the 90% and like it a lot. I use it for September Elk and October Antelope. I use either the core or traverse, or both under it depending on temps. It's not a November jacket. I just bought a Kryptek puffy to go under it for later stuff.

For unit 1 archery, I had 11 points and had tag #15 but was actually the first alternate. 12 should be a lock for 2014 unless a bunch jump in.

You will not draw 73 as a 1st choice regular draw, you might draw in the special price draw however. You could draw 21 as a 2nd choice, you will not draw 27 as a 2nd choice. I haven't looked at any GEN elk units.

If all you want is a 13" buck and some does, apply for unit 59 1st choice and your chosen unit as 2nd choice. Apply for two doe tags in the same unit as your 2nd choice buck unit. Do your homework and make sure you will draw the 2nd choice unit. If for some chance you don't draw the buck tag, you should still get the doe tags, provided you did your homework... For Elk, apply for a top end unit like 30 or 31 1st choice and gen as 2nd choice. You'll be hunting Elk and Antelope, used no points to do it, and will get points for both going into the following year.

The tag isn't valid once season ends. At that point, it's a "dead head" and those rules take over.

NM has been "stratifying" hunts for years. If AZ does it, there won't be any 2 week hunts, they'll be one week long taking the current hunt and splitting the time in half, or less. Bad idea all the way around.

Oh, I think I have a pretty decent grasp of reading comprehension. It isn't a case of not understanding what was stated; it's a case of not agreeing with it. To wit, it will do zilch to create more "opportunity" without adding permits somewhere. If there are 200 permits for a 20-day season, and they are split to 100 per 10-day season, the "opportunity" has remained the same. And regardless how one applies, the odds of drawing a permit will not change. In fact, what will result is a trade-off of sorts: there will be fewer hunters in the unit for each 10-day season but it will also remove 10 hunting days for all 200 permit holders. I would label that as less hunting opportunity than the original single season. exactly If those in favor could only apply for the earlier season of the two, the enthusiasm would diminish greatly.

I saw no lull in bugling. I had 3 around me yesterday at 10:00 when I was digging my broadhead out of the carcass.

Trophy, I didn't start hunting till after 8:00. Everybody else is back doing laundry and I was a sneaking in on bugling bedded bulls. I snuck in on 2 bulls the day before that some guy was bugling from the road then I watched him drive off so I hiked up and was less than 30 yards from the two for over 2 1/2 hours. Still bugling when Ieft at 11:00. The bull I shot bugled at me when I shut off my quad at 11:00, snuck in to 20 yards and texted my wife at 11:30 saying I had just snuck in on another bull. He then heard me take my pack off and came forward then dropped down the hill where I whacked him at 15 yards. These bulls are finding the broken terrain/ heavier cover to bed, places where an archer can get close enough for a shot. Most of the country I have seen is way too open to have much luck calling so I changed things up and it works.

Bulls have been bugling all day long for a week now for me. After observing the lack of bugling interest in my area I changed tactics. I started leaving camp about 7, locating with a bugle, follow them, then sneaking in when they bed. Shot mine at 12:00 noon yesterday. 4th bull I had snuck up to in 2 days. The OP is in a good spot, only 2 bulls came to my calls and I had to split the herd to get that to happen. Good luck on your hunt PD.
