No, they left a lot of brass, bullets, primers, my Redding dies, RCBS scale etc alone...just the loaded ammo and some boxes of projectiles. They also left a Dremel tool and portable radio/CD player. Who knows what goes on in the mind of a junky thief. It's a bummer...the .270 loads were itemized by charge/OACL. Hate to know some scumbag will use them for target practice on a junked out old car in Methville. I'm probably going to have to add a security door to my utility room as well.

Yea, so much for sighting in my new Zeiss scope on Saturday

Best choice for hunting/field sidearm
Siwash replied to apache12's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
On archery and rifle hunts I carry a 5 shot hammerless airweight .38. It's light, reliable and accurate enough with the handloads I developed for it. I guess if I was going to an area where I really expected trouble -like the west side of PHX - I'd take my 1911. If I could find a .22 MAG revolver that didn't cost an arm and a leg that would probably be my backcountry carry piece. -
If you are feeling the post season blues come join the Desert Archers for our first 3D shoot of 2012. This is a fun shoot with two 15 target courses. Courses open after 10am Saturday and close around 4:30 and open Sunday at daylight and close around 1pm. The shoot will take place at Tucson Mt. Park Archery Range. The club will also be selling 2012 annual passes to the county range for $25. Please see our website at desertarchers.com for more info.

I have a few things for sale after organizing my shed this morning: 1. Leupold Bases for Remington 700 matte (fits SA/LA) $12 2. Leupold High Rings matte finish $12 (or $20 for rings/bases together) 3. Slik Compact Tripod Head. It's light and comes with one release plate $40 4. Cabela's Dry Plus bootfoot breathable Waders Size 9 (think the boots size is 9-12, I wear 10.5-11 and they have plenty of room for me). No leaks $50 and they have seen fish blood from AZ to AK 5. Coleman Ram-X 17" Canoe with 2 paddles and seat backer. 660# capacity, can take up to a 5hp motor $225 All items are in Tucson but I would ship the tripod head or rings/bases.

Here is the exit wound from a 100 grain Slick Trick Magnum on the pig I killed yesterday. 40 yard shot broadside down a draw. My shot was a bit forward and I managed to miss all of her vitals. She ran up the opposite side of the draw about 30 yards and looked "funky." In about ten seconds she fell over and expired 5 minutes later.

Reminder Bump. I hope I can make it.

The Mach X is a really nice bow. Welcome back to the sport of archery!

Went out this AM mostly looking for pigs in SoAZ and saw several young Coues bucks: one small framed 3 pt was trailing a doe and on the same hill close to other does a fork and a nice 3 pointer were running together and seemed to care less about the ladies around. I bedded the fork and 3 pointer and got to 33 yards at full draw only to have the 3 pt stand in heavy cover and sneak out with no clear shot. Next time...

I'm not gonna weigh in on my favorite bow brand as I have owned and shot lots and think all of the major manufacturers make good products but as far as names go I think Darton's "Maverick" is a great bow name. I'm also partial to my old P.O.S. Hoyt bow-fishing rig, the "Enticer."

Trad & Compound Competitive Archery Shoot in Tucson
Siwash posted a topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Next weekend, Dec. 3 & 4, the Desert Archers host their inaugural "Duel in the Desert" competitive 3D archery shoot at the Tucson Mt. Park. Saturday's competition will be a 20 target course for traditional archers. Sunday's compound competition will also be a 20 target course with a "blind draw" team shoot where you pair up with another archer and the highest arrow between the two of you is scored. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for traditional and compound shooters. A 20 target fun course will be open on both days. This is a great chance to prepare for the upcoming winter archery season and meet other archers. For more info please see the attached PDF or visit our site at desertarchers.com DuelDesertFlyer (1).pdf -
Official times aren't set but they should be confirmed soon. Right now it looks like this: The 1st Leg will be hosted by Usery Mountain Archers (Mesa, AZ) in late February. The 2nd Leg will be hosted by Desert Archers (Texas Canyon - Dragoon, AZ) in late March. The 3rd Leg will be hosted by Apache Bowhunters (Globe, AZ) in late April. Right now there is no official 4th leg although there has been some talk (maybe just wishful thinking) about adding the Clint's Well or the Father's Day Mormon Lake shoot as a 4th Leg.

bump for a price drop on the scope and binos

I worry about the same thing. I usually make sure I am familiar with my hunting partners guns and try to shoot a few rounds with their rifles pre-season "just in case" I need to use theirs. If you hunt alone this isn't an option though.

Looks like I drew a spring archery bear tag!!!! I checked my CC statements twice yesterday and early this AM...just checked again and was charged $22.25...don't give up hope if your CC wasn't dinged yesterday!

Tucson. I would be happy to ship either item but you would need to assume cost, probably about $10-12
