Sorry for the random post but I thought it was odd finding this little guy at a buddies house off the 202 and Ray? I don't think it is a Thread snake due to its head shape, and it was always sticking its tong out which I have not seen a thread snake do in the past. I have grown up here in the east valley and have not seen many snakes "in town per say". My finger is about 3" off the ground, just to reference how small he is.

I have heard that they have shot pigeons from the bridge at Tempe town lake for pigeon control at night with air guns. Also been to Yellow Stone national park taking out elk because they have been out of control. They had to pack out guts and everything to leave no trace. They basically do most of AZGF dirty work taking out problem animals. My buddy was called down to Green Valley to take out coyotes that bit people because they were feeding them. Of course AZGF will take all the credit for it, and won't hear nothing from the USDA government trappers. Don't get me wrong that AZGF does do a little of damage control, but most of it is done through the Gov trappers. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, this just what I have heard.

I have a friend that does this, he kills a lot of coyotes! I have been out with him at night and it was a blast. Not sure the total amount but I remember the hole they dug he threw all of his kills in. He asked me how many I thought were in there, so I counted at least 25. He chuckled at me and said think of all the ones below that. I'm sure he and a few hundred in there.

We started off scouting yesterday and the Toms were Gobbling like crazy. This morning we could not get any of them to talk, our first 3 spots were a bust. We quickly moved to another area and at 7am this morning we both shot these 2 long beards. What a blast and a rush! So much fun.

I just wanted to give Little Creek Calls a big thank you as he has organized to take 5-6 youth out this weekend to hunt birds. He doesn't really let others know he does this, I hunted with him this last week and he mentioned he took vacation time off from work so he could help out! Humble guy right there.

You can expect a 350" + bull if you scout hard. If you don't spend much time scouting good possibility much much smaller and maybe even tag soup. There are a few big ones in there 370 - 400 plus bulls

Ok here is my second Tom. This was a bitter sweet year, I tagged both birds but it was a lot of work. I finally had this guy running and let him have it at 25 yards at 10am this morning. Red head Jelly head! I had really nice Tom pinned at 70 yards before this one, but just would come into shotgun range. I would rather not post what units I took these birds in just because I have a lot of time spent in them. Thanks for understanding. I used a raspy hen mouth call by forum member LittleCreekCalls. Thank you Ammon.

John great job!!! Not sure how I missed this post. Great write up as well!!! -
Thanks guys! It is in New Mexico and it was a very cold morning, 16 degrees. It seems like these hunts are a lot tougher than Az hunts IMO

I have heard they can survive on the dew and moisture on the grass, therefore not needing water everyday? Maybe I'm wrong???

I just got done scouting this morning, seems like most of our areas did not produce. We started calling around in the early light in the AM. Found 15 gobblers, and only 2 where paired up with hens. Looks like they are off to a late start which is a "HUGE" advantage. Look for sign on small 2 track roads. We started at 4am this morning

Selling all your rifles?

I'm using a HS extra full choke on a Benneli SBE II with #6 3 1/2" Winchester elite tungsten shot. Also I have Hi Viz sights, which IMO are the best. I used some cheaper Kent 3 1/2 ammo, and it did not group as well. Found 15 toms this morning!!! I'm super stoked!!!

Well shoot! That's no bueno then. Yeah they should be answering back right before light.
