I'm trying to figure out what unit would be best for a muzzleloader hunt. I have 16 points and I think im getting close to a tag if I choose Archery or Muzzleloader. With reading the Gand F website the access is my biggest worry with the hunts. Ive helped friends of mine get goats in 35A and 2B but I think there is alot more goats in other units. I go back and forth between 8 and 19 and with them being so far from my house it makes scouting tough. I would really prefere one with my Bow but I hate to gamble with those points since it is so hard to get drawn, and ive never killed anything with the muzzleloader my wife bought me for a wedding gift 6 yrs ago. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks Mark

Thats a Beautiful Mount Congrats, I cant wait until I can add one to my collection. Mark

This is the Lion I killed last May while Garrett and I were sitting over a calf Kill. It was mounted by Stacy Tompkinson, He did a wonderful job I couldn't be happier. The Buck was killed by my wife a few years ago when she was 3 months pregnant, she didn't want me to get it mounted for her so I figured adding it to the lion Habitat would be prety cool. Mark

Hopefully it works out for all that drew those tags its a long wait usually for those hunts. Maybe with some luck some areas were spared by only burning on the ground and the rains will come in slow and not wash the country away. My friends and i spent many years in 1 &27 and have learned alot about the elk habits now we will have to learn all over and that takes time. Still very bummed over the fire that area was my favorite place to vacation and hunt. Mark

This is such a sad situation ive been bummed since this thing started cause i knew how bad it was up there, i feel so bad for everyone up there. I hope they can get a break soon and put an end to this fire. The more stories i read the sadder it makes me feel, my wife just read one on wallow.us about big lake area looks like a bunch of sticks and there is dead elk everywhere. As for the wolves you guys should read the article on the G&F web site about their officers helping people and assesing the wildlife or should I say the wolves, they actualy conducted back burns to protect wolf dens and they are monitoring the packs to make sure they are ok and they might have to bring them food. WOW What idiots. Mark

Congrats on a great mount you will enjoy looking at that one everyday for sure.

Oh and she did practice before the hunt with a 30.06 and .270 and used the .270 on the hunt.
-
If she feels up to it you bet. My wife killed her first coues on a december hunt when she was 3 months pregnant, and she actually climbed a pretty big mtn/hill to shoot him in his bed. Good Luck and Congrats on the little one.

I will have to say that was a very fun weekend, Garrett and I have been chomping at the bit to get into the blinds this year its been tough waiting a year to Hunt. Its nice filling youre tag in Jan. but its also a bummer.Robert, Garrett and I wont give you anymore grief than we usually give you we know that the honey do list has gotten very long and besides Garrett did mention on one outing that his mother still had something in her purse that she hadn't given back to you yet. As for the arrow it never left the bow, Im really suprised I don't have a hole in my Blind. The chair was actually a Cabela's, don't want to give Primos a bad rap. I really think it was my wife sabotaging my chair since last years Buck and lion are still at the taxidermist, she wouldve killed me if I wouldve come home with two more to deliver. I think the lion heard the chair thats why Im blaming her and of course she just grinned. Were ready for round 2 this weekend, atleast I think so that starring at the trees all day waiting for something to move is tough. 2 Deer and 1 lion on Sat. and 2 Deer on sunday that makes for a very long day but it will pay off soon. Beautiful Buck, Congrats.

Seems like the last time i looked at new mexico regs it was 78% res 12% to people using a guide and 10% to non res which is the same in ariz. get rid of the 12% held out for the guides and it is no different. The people whining about seeing out of state plates wont see any different in the field because im pretty sure when theyre with a guide theyre probably in their truck with NM plates unless that works for all guides regardless of where there from.

That was a quick and fun morning Robert glad I was there to watch you shoot youre biggest Coues Buck Congrats. Thats the first 4x4 coues ive had the chance to see in field, or least able to positively ID. You cant see it in the picture but he has a G4 on his right side also. Very symetrical and pretty Buck hes going to look great on youre wall with that antelope you also harvested this year. Great Year! Mark

I thought anyone could put in for those tags or was that just last year? Thats why the draw odds were so high, no one knew it was open to all.
-
Thats a great Buck congrats, I agree that he looks alot bigger than 111 but not matter the score its an awesome Buck. Tell Paul Mark said he could get a better hunting hat than that.

Stand hunting vs. still hunting (archery)

Try some tinks 69 doe in heat scent, it brought the Buck I shot last Jan. on a dead run to my blind. You never know what will work it takes the right buck in the right mood. good Luck. mark -
Yeck ya shoot the Buck, Im not going to pass on anything here for those drug running pieces of crap. and call them in Bp will be on them quick.
