That's why I cashed in the points this year, I figured I'd wait until the season started later and was hoping for a lot of moisture so far so good hopefully it finishes with good monsoons

Finally drew I haven't drawn since 2005 only put in for unit 1 early archery bull now I hope for a good rut with the later start date and no moon.

Bought this brand new about 8 months ago shot it about 20 times. Asking 100.00

Got my first Turkey on Wednesday in New Mexico. Took a few days to get into some hot birds and called in a double. I Shot too quick not letting both birds get good and close so my buddy wasn't able to get the other one. First bird jitters I guess

Happened to my son and I in unit 1 last week, we were a mile from the truck on a ridge I hadnt been on before so I didnt realize the lazy hunters had extended the road so much. we were working towards a bull my son spotted on another ridge. The Bull had just bedded and we were closing the distance in hopes he would maybe come to a call when a couple of trucks pulled up about 150yds above us one guy got out and bugled my son I both were saying dont answer and he didnt but the guy bugled again and the bull answered, those guys started getting their stuff when the so talented caller saw us and he threw his arms up at us repeatedly I guess he couldnt figure out why we were actually walking and not driving. I couldnt resist the two finger wave and we kept on our way needless to say we bumped a cow and it was over but atleast the lazy a$$e$ didnt get a chance in.

My Son and I ran into the WM helping in unit 1 on wed before the archery hunt ended and I complained about the tag #s and his response was the Bull/Cow ratio was too high so it sounds like theyre talking out of both ends.

The bear I shot last year was tagged with the same tag, the warden I spoke to said it was fine to consume since it was a year later they just dont want you eating it right after it was tranquilized

Just looked at the hunt survey data from 2007 thru 2011 and they always slaughter the bucks in there on the archery hunts in 2011 it was 86% on the 1st and 75% on the second with 30 tags in both and the years previous there were 40 tags and 40 to 60 % success so maybe it will still be a great hunt for you

Yeah that stinks having that many killed for sure it just sounds like there is an awful lot of antelope in there for great opportunities. Last year there was 50% success on the second archery hunt but not as good on the 1st so they killed alot last year also. very high success in the muzzy and rifle hunts too so they kill alot of goats there every year. I would never think archery hunters would reach 50% success or higher on those sharp critters just shows how much better people are getting and the equipment improving.

Might be worth cashing in my 19 pts for a quality hunt like that, would love to have a good chance at an archery goat

Are They still charging a ton to get on the Private ranches? Two Years ago they quoted me $1000 and they were only letting on 1 hunter per gun hunt.

All my points are updated when I just checked. A turkey point is a Turkey Point regardless of spring or fall.I purchase a point every fall and apply for spring Goulds, you could buy two points a year for turkey or buffalo

Ditto for 23S! I didn't hear or see anything the last two days. Did see a to of deer so I know the optics were working. One of the ranchers said they weren't in the pears this year, at least not in that area. The heat in the late afternoon is unbearable! Last year was a great year for pear production, so botanically speaking, this year would need to have significantly lower fruit yield. Combine that our poor winter rains, and the ranchers observations make perfect sense. The pears will be tougher this year to hunt. Are the Bears just not coming to the Pears because of a good Acorn Crop or is it just not enough pears. Just wondering since I will be heading out during the archery hunt

I have 18 points now so maybe in the next few years I can finally go on a Goat Hunt. I'm not looking for 80" plus Well maybe I'am but the high 70s would be a Great Trophy. What Iam looking for is a great hunting experience and not an area where it is a race to every nice Buck out there if there is such a unit. I would love to do a Muzzleloader hunt since I've been on a couple hunts with friends and they were great hunts and my Muzzleloader is a tack driver out to 200. I've called the guys in 19a and they want $1000.00 trespass fee and they were only letting one gun hunter on, too risky. 2b is hurting and 18a seems pretty tough with the distance between the herds. 8 is where Keep heading back to but I don't know if it has Quality Numbers. If I didn't live so far away from those units I would be scouting all the time so I could make up my mind. Rifle units I've been kicking around are 7,9 and 10. Any insight from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mark
