Gigs UP!!! What's up with the leftover tags?????
buglethemin replied to RoughCut's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
There for the Hopi Trusts lands in 4a, 5a, &5b, way to go azgfd, set asside these tags for hopi members and non of them put in for the tags. So my question is, what if these tags go unsold, will they be up for grabs for non-tribal members to hunt on our state land. The way it reads now is that Non-Hopi Tribal members cannot apply for these tags. We shall see. -
Putting my FNPS90 up for sale, see link below to see pic of what the weapon looks like. I bought it new, and its never been fired. Purchased it during the Obama scare of taken away assault weapons. Just sits in my safe now. Need $ to do front yard landscaping. Come with 30rd and 50rd mag, and 400 rds of 5.7x28 ammo. asking $1750. www.fnhusa.com/mil/products/firearms/family.asp?fid... The PS90 provides a compact, lightweight and completely ambidextrous firearm capable of fulfilling numerous security, personal defense, competition and recreational shooting roles. Fired cases are ejected downward where they cannot interfere with the user. The extended 16.04" barrel and closed bolt operation give the PS90 outstanding accuracy, while the non magnifying optical sight makes it easy to locate and stay on a target. Recoil is reduced by the integral muzzle break.

Why do alot of you like the onlin application process. I know its convient, certainly for non residents, but looking in the past, there seemed to be more applying during the online process than the standard traditional paper process. This seemed true for Bighorn and Buffalo. Sure its cheap to just apply and if your drawn then they charge your card, but this puts alot of the non-die-hards (weekend warriors) back into the application process. I would probable like the online process if they charge your card for all the fees up front, Lic, & Tag, maybe that way we will have the convience of applying online, but also keeping some of the non-die-hards out. Just thinkning.

In my opinon, its the best round out there. I shoot a Tika T3, 270wsm, equipped w/zeiss scope. Did the break in with the barrel, one box of 20 took forever to break it in, and I lapped the scope rings before mounting the scope. I use the Winchester Ballistic Silvertip in 150 grain, and so far have taken, (3) coues with it at ranges of 200, 262, 300, (2) black bear at 419 and 400, (1) mulie at 100, (1) elk at 326, and a coyote, head shot at 410. With that 150 gr ballistic tip, which worked best for my rife, bench shots my best 5 shot group at 500 yds, was at 4 an a quarter inch.Your going to love that round, no matter what bullet you use.

I have no problem with peopel asking what unit, I am the opposite than you, I would prefer that people post the unit of the kill. I always do with all my kills and photos. Dont get me wrong Im not going to give the honey hole away, but it would be nice to see what unit some of the trophies this state has to offer are coming from. Im not worried about other hunters going into the units I hunt, I can out glass, hike, hunt most hunters in this state. So it doent bother me one bit.

Finish it off, and dont tell anyone, dont let the animal suffer. As far as judges, yeah right there are so many liberal judges they would find you guilty no matter what. I have had too many good law abiding friends who made a simple mistake, called the game and fish to advise them of the mistake, (did the right thing) game and fish showed up, took the animal, tag, and cited them. (example shooting a spike bull, on a cow hunt) and the judge still did not give them a break. Also had a friend, shot a bear with his bow, went back to his cabin for a few hours because he was not sure of the shot, decided at that time to check if the unit was still open, and low and behold it was not. He knew it was his fault for not checking first, but did the right thing. He called the local game warden, took him to the shot location, they found his arrow with blood on it, but they never found the bear. He was fined $375 dollars. Never even found the animal and he still got fined. Now what kind of message is this showing us, who may at one time make a mistake and report it, THey gut hung out to dry. If anyone ever calls me and ask what to do, I'll tell them dont report it.

I'll have 14bp going into the antelope draw this year, I hope 2010 is the year, Im tired of waiting for that opportunity. I'll pass up an archery bull elk tag for my antelope tag.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you have the SS# and make a police report for a loss item. Give them the SS# and they enter in as lost item. If anyone anywhere in the nation turns them over to Law Enforcement a quick run of the SS# will show the rightfull owner. Good luck.

Great, buck, my daughter also has the 42jr hunt and so far all we been seeing is does, a bobcat and a lion and few coyotes and foxes. We were out yesterday morning near aguila and found 9 does, no bucks yet. Opening morning last week just does as well, we tried near the hasayampa wash near wickenburg, nothing. Going out tomorrow for one last chance. Congrats on a nice buck, the jr hunts are so fun.

I found an old predator trap, this September during the archery elk hunt in the flats near winslow. Its all rusted out but was able to see, Property of The United States Govt. Any ideas how old this may be? Any reasons why it would be labled Propert of USG.? Wonder how long ago they were doing trapping.

is that still ongoing, this thing looked like it was 50 years old or so.

I took this buck a few years ago hunting the deser flats. He measured 30 inches wide, and he is only a 2x2, old buck probably age range of 10yrs or so.

Well I didnt think I was going to do any type of whitetail hunting this year. Howvere I was able to get away for a day to help a friend of mine on opening morning in unit 21. He never hunted this unit, and as any central or northen units the whitetail are held up in pockets, so never hunting the unit would be tough for him. The good thing is that I and some of my friends have killed several bucks in 21 over the last 10 years. The bad thing I have not been hunting this unit since my last kill in there in 2004, nor have I scouted that unit since then. I told myself I would never take that rough road again. In '04 I took my truck in there and tore off skid plates, one of my buds bang up his rear axle and tore off a nerf bar. It takes 3 hours to go 7 miles in a truck or jeep, and on a quad it takes an hour, and even on my quad this trip I would bottom out on lava rock. Ok on to the hunt. I took him back to a great spot and at first light, I found a couple of mule deer. I was kind of concerned because I never seen mulies in the spot, ohwell I continued glassing and found 6 more mule deer, all bucks 3x3 or better, some were even fighting each other. Continued glassing and found 3 more mule deer bucks, these guys were big and running together. 9 mule deer bucks all on the same ridge. I asked Rob, are you sure you have a whitetail tag. Even he was wishing he did. So we decided to move over a ridge where I know there should be some whitetail. We got to this ridge and spooked up a whitetail doe. Well that was promising at least there were still whitetail in here. NO bucks at this spot, only a nice bull elk and some turkey. I decided to glass the ridge with the 9 mule deer bucks, because I always have seen whitetail bucks on that ridge, and wouldnt you know it, I found three whitetail bucks running together, between the herd of 6 and 3 mule deer bucks. We watched them for awhile and wathced them feed over the ridge. I knew exactly where they were heading. To their bed. We head out to the bedding area about a mile away from our glassing point and had to manuever around the mule deer, but we got it done. We got within 150 yards of the bedding area and the bucks stood up. Two ran off and one stayed and watched us. Rob took a shot and missed. He shot over his back. He shot two more times as the buck never ran off, he just walked between some dead junipers. His othe two shots hit the trees. The deer went out of sight behind some junipers. We walked over to the last spot he was at and I looked ahead and noticed the buck standing broadside at 40 yards. Rob was behind me and I motioned him to get over here, the buck started trotting off. I whistled and he stopped again. Rob shot, and hit him, he dropped and the shot was only 46 yards. He was stoked, this was his first buck ever. It was a fun quick day hunt, and I was glad I was there to see Rob take his first deer ever, and it was a Coues.

I love my geovids had them for about 5 years, but just remember these glass are not lifetime warranty, its only for 5 years due to the electronics. I was kinda shocked with that due to the price, but leica told me that a 5 year warranty is way more than any one or two year warranty for any other electronics. However they did advise me that if anything happened to the glass, it would not be much to repair, however they could not tell me the same for the electronic portion after the 5 year warranty. Something you may want to think about
