Good luck. There have been transplants in their I think from Utah . Which are not known for good genetics. I thought about putting in for this hunt for your same reason only 1 tag prior to your hunt and 2 for rifle, but didn’t want to burn 29pts due to trophy quality . I think you’ll have no problem finding a 70 inch buck. Anything close to 80 will be challenging to slim. But only scouting will tell.

Son got it done This weekend w a decent coues. Opening day we passed 9 bucks. Day 2 some more bucks but no shooters. Mid day we found this buck and waited till he got out of his bed. Son got it done w a single 490 yrd shot. Now onto his youth cow elk this weekend.

What size canyon you looking for ?

The ranch. It’s only 1 $for you and 1$ for kid. You won’t beat up your truck. It can get muddy but the roads are fairly decent if they are not washed out. East side is ok but 3/4 of that unit is on the ranch. Don’t miss out on the majority of the unit by not going on the ranch

Scout as soon as you find out what unit you drew. Rams are starting to rut. Great time to get out and get an inventory of the rams in your unit. When I drew I scouted every weekend leading up to the hunt. Over 30 plus days scouting and payed off huge. Good luck and congratulations on the tag.

Remember 16 more sheep tags this year. Probably why your seeing more guys post they got a sheep hit. The numbers I’ve seen posting about sheep seem normal w the increased tag amount

I could be wrong but. But I thought Out of those 10% tags to non residents. I believe 5% go to NR max point holders. The other 5% goes to NR random. Unless your sitting at 34 points you’ll be in the random for 5% of the tags remaining to NR. Don’t put in for units w only 1 tag. Because 0 will go to NR.

Go to pattern masters. Code black turkey. Around 100 bucks. Just don’t shoot steel. Tungsten is ok. Guys using them are knocking turkeys at 60 yards and further.

The extreme were a little more but worth it. I had Sanderson Ford custom shop order them and did install.

Amp extreme electric steps has been great. No issues and the extreme has several motors and made for the mud/ice/dust. Plus they fold away nicely and when open they are lower than the non folding steps.
