    Wyoming draw results posted!

I'm sitting on 9. Missed one year my freshman year of dental school and its came back to bite me in the rear majorly!!
  2. I put up a pic on another topic and thought I'd start a new thread with some ATL pics from last weekend. I found most of these in my yard. I plant 6 acres I corn and soybeans that I leave standing for the deer. I also supplemental feed them with a few hundred bushel of corn each winter. I usually have 100-150 deer in the yard and 100-200 pheasants! The cold gets old up here by march, but you can't beat the wildlife and hunting opportunities we have up here!! The weekends find!

ND browns, first trip of the year!

This is a pic of the buck that the matched set came from. I actually took that pic with my cell phone out the bedroom window during the muzzleloader season. Was gonna drop the hammer on him but if they can make it through our rifle season (which was over) they usually will make it to next year so I'm happy to say he should be around this fall if he doesn't get hit by a car!!

ND browns, first trip of the year!

Yes you can.... corn fed tenderloins!!! We have some tanks for bodies up here. My buddy shot a 3 1/2 yr old 130" 3 point management buck this year that weighed 268 gutted. I think that puts him over 300# on the hoof. Thing was a tank and not even the biggest bodied buck out there!
  6. Sub 1/2 moa?!? I had one in a .308 that would hold sub paper plate at 100 yds (barely)

    24a elk

Like bob said, in NM you can't put in the next year until you fill out a harvest survey. It takes 15 seconds. You could of course lie, but they make you agree that if you lie you can lose your hunting privileges for 5 years. I know there's almost no way they could prove that you lies but atleast there is a little bit of effort put in by them to get accurate data.

Funny how the harvest report shows no kills in that unit and yet there are multiple bulls killed in there. AZ really needs to get their crap together and start doing mandatory harvest reporting.

    17 bonus pts...what to do?

I agree with this. Again I don't necessarily care about size, but a 350 bull would be nice. I've looked at the odds a little, but is it really easier to get drawn for Archery then rifle? I did the early rifle bull. So, are you guys saying if I did the early archery bull I would have a better chance of getting drawn? Two years ago I bought a used bow from a friend to try going after deer when I didn't get drawn. Anyways, I got a lot of time to sit and daydream about drawing a tag. I would have to double check but you should be in max point pool. For23N early archery. That means the tag would be guaranteed. You are probably a long ways off from 23N early rifle though. With so few tags and point creep I would expect 5-10 years more for a rifle tag. You should make up the decision if yours gonna wait for rifle or gonna be happy with a bow tag and if so pull the trigger ASAP on it and start building more points. A 350 bull in that unit with an early archery hunt is very very doable with or without an outfitter if you can hit a paper plate every time at 40 yds and keep your cool. If you want rifle plan on a long wait yet.

Watch your boots!! Wear your chaps.......

Why would you kill it for not rattling? I usually let them go if they rattle. I've heard that we are evolving rattlers to not rattle as we kill the ones that rattle and probably walk by 5 that don't for every one that does. The way I look at it if they rattle they're trying to avoid a confrontation the same way I am. If they don't rattle I kill them.

  13. Thanks for the info! I was really trying to talk myself into your 270 and to rechamber it but I don't really wanna mess with that kinda stuff to bad. I'll hit you up when I get one in 280 AI!

Watch your boots!! Wear your chaps.......

My bro hopped up on a boulder while taking pics of a javelina we killed yesterday and there was a 2' dback curled up on the rock a foot away. Didn't rattle at all. He was moving pretty slow as it was still cool. Tried to see if he would rattle and he didnt. He ended up without a head for it.
  15. Wilderness1, you seem to always have the coolest stuff. I really want a super lightweight backpack rifle and have been looking at an ascent in .280 AI. What's your opinion on some of the improved .270 chamberings like the .270 Gibbs and .270 AI? It would be deer/sheep/elk rifle so a 140-160gr would be my goal, are there enough offerings for good LR bullets in .277?

    Beetles in N valley

I like the beetles because the skull stays stronger then being cooked. If they get handled a lot they don't break as easy. I had western skulls do a mule deer a few years back and it didnt get properly degreased and its all nasty and oily and grey now. I had another guy with beetles that worked down toward cardinals stadium do a few and they turned out awesome, anyone know who I'm talking about. Forgot his name but I know he's on here.
  17. I was in town from ND for one night and saw a CWT sticker the first night out!!

Tan tundra 4 door at bluewater grill 2/13

Cool! My family is all down to get out of the ND weather. I used to love bluewater grill when I lived here but it really went down hill! Atleast our meals weren't nearly as good as I remember.
  19. If that kimber was a 280 AI I'd be all over that!

    12x50 & 20x56 glassing setup thoughts??

I've never looked through the 20x kaibabs, but like all vortex products, but I feel like going up in power to overcome a lack of clarity is kind of a step in the wrong direction.

    19a Cow Hunt

    +1000
  23. What he said! I moved out of state and drew a tag last year I could not have gotten as a NR. Best $650 I ever spent!!
  24. Buy a lifetime license then don't worry about it. Unless you plan on giving up hunting in the next 15 yrs its a win win. If you move out of state, even better, it'll save you $160 a year and get you in the resident pool. Can't afford a lifetime license? Then you aren't any better at managing money then the game and fish so quit complaining about them.

    draw question

You won't get a bull tag in 3, 4 or 5th choice with the exception if 4b late archery I think occasionally some of those get past the 1,2 draws. Look into limited opp cow hunts (peaks area for instance) if you want to draw for sure.
