  1. 300 win mag Bullet weight/type Velocity Energy 220 gr (14.3 g) Sierra MatchKing (HPBT) 2,850 ft/s (870 m/s) 3,908 ft·lbf (5,299 J) 338 win mag Bullet weight/type Velocity Energy 225 gr (15 g) SP 2,800 ft/s (850 m/s) 3,918 ft·lbf (5,312 J) I would keep the 300 win mag that you're familiar with and load it with a QUALITY 220gr bullet. Absolutely apples to apples. Unless you're looking for an excuse to buy a new rifle as I would be! But it sounds like you're interested in keeping it simple. There's nothing you can do with a 338 you can't do with a 300. As a matter if fact the 300 will do it better. If you were talking extreme long range then a 338 would be a better choice with a 300 gr bullet but in this case in guessing you will keep your shots under 200 yds. Just a thought.

    Shout out to Old Buck!

I just wanted to take a minute to publicly thank member Old Buck. It blows me away how many really good people are on this site. I recently put up a wanted ad looking for some 200gr 30 cal accubonds. Many of you guys know the frustration of finding and working up a load and then not being able to find the components you need to load some for the hunt, well that happened to my dad. He's got a Utah rifle LE bull hunt right around the corner and Old Buck sent us some bullets the same day free of charge! He even took them down to the post office and covered the shipping! It blows me away how good of a guy it takes to do something like that for a complete stranger! My dad got his bullets in the mail today and was pumped to crank em out for his hunt. Thanks again Old Buck and thanks CWT for being the best site on the web!

Found ANOTHER gun! And a gold ring!

Makes ya wonder why the lawyer was taking off his wedding ring in the first place! I'm guessing he isn't the classiest character out there so I wouldn't feel bad!

    saved for the future funnies.....

30-06 accelerators! I remember how pumped I was when those came out. I didn't even have a 30-06. Epic fail.

    18 points for Elk

I would strongly consider trying to get muzzy tag in 1 or 27 when they come around. People shy away from them slightly, but IMO a muzzlaoder is just as good as a center fire in those units, especially unit 1. Most of your shots are gonna Be in the timber or meadows and probably 200 yds or less. I don't have first hand knowledge on 9 or 10 but it sure seems like the bulls in those units have been decreasing in size as of late? I think your points would land you a unit 1 muzzy tag next year, and if I remember right there should be one.

    Wanted, 200gr .30 cal accubonds

They're going on the front of a 30-378 wby. So it's a pretty big 30! I'd love to try some 210 LR Accubonds someday but that's kind of a pipe dream these days! We're jus greatful to have something to kill an elk with now!!'

Wanted .30 cal 200 gr accubonds

Anyone out there willing to sell a few 200 gr accubonds? My dad has an elk hunt coming up and shot his way down to only 12 left. Even if someone has 15-20 they could spare, load development is done, just need some for the hunt. We have some 190gr .30 cal accubonds we would be willing trade, or even some .22LR ammo! Thanks!

    Helicopter rental?

I've had my eye on a large piece of very landlocked state land within a big ranch that I've thought about having someone drop me into someday. Not sure of the legality of it though. I've got friends who do the same in Montana. They have about $1500 into the round trip but slipt between three guys its not bad.

    antelope pics

Oh and he won't be alive in 3 years. That's most likely a 2 y/o goat and will be 79-80" next year if he doesn't get killed this year. Then he will get killed.

That's a 73-75" goat. Real small top mass, 13-14" length. It's a shooter to some, others not. I would personally run to wyoming and shoot one like that on a leftover tag vs burning AZ points on it but that's just my opinion.

    Aug. Kaibab Buffalo Hunt

This is a cow tag correct?
  20. So the draw gods were REALLY good to my family. My dad pulled a limited entry utah bull tag for mid sept and I drew tags in az and nm for early October. What our plan is is to have my dad pull our toyhauler and all the gear down to Utah for his hunt. He's then gonna pull it down to Mesa and fly out of williams gateway airport as they have direct flights back to ND. My plan is then fly back down a few weeks later and hop in the rig and head above the rim. We are looking for a place to park a pickup and toyhauler for roughly 2-3 weeks from mid-late sept to the 2nd of oct. Does anyone know of a rental place that would have a secured area to leave this rig in? We'll have guns and gear in it so secured would be a must have. Maybe someone has an opening in a shop they'd consider renting is for a couple weeks. Willing to pay well for it as it saves us about 40 hours on the road and a TON of gas money! Let me know if you have any ideas!! Thanks!!

    13b maps

    Good luck!?!?
  22. I would look into the remington, but they won't be out till oct or nov. I have one on order right now but don't expect it this year. I just ordered one of these instead: http://ultimatefirearms.com/modelsprices.php Remington actually bought the design from this guy.
  23. CVA's have kind of a love hate deal going on. I see a lot of people who are happy with them, but I've been around 3 of them and all three were major POS that wouldn't go off. They shot good on the rare chance they would fire, but they only went off when they felt like it. I wouldn't touch one with a 40 ft pole after the 3 I've been around.
