They did a similar thing in ND to thin the elk herd in Theodore Roosevelt national park. They ended up doing a draw of hunters from the public. It wasn't as cool as it sounds. They pretty much used them as sharp shooters. They paired them in 2's and had helicopters locating the elk. The "hunters" then shot every single elk they could get, Bulls cows and calves. They left them lay and packers with horses came behind and boned them out and the meat was donated. The "hunters" didn't even get to approach them. I guess I like that they used public hunters instead of wasting money on sharp shooters, and to some people that might sound like fun, but for me that's not hunting and I wouldn't want part of it. They killed 8-900 elk in a week if I remember right. I'm guessing this "hunt" will follow a similar structure so don't anticipate a true draw tag and a hunt if they use public hunters. Could help if you were holding a tag across the fence that year but it's gonna make it really tough in the coming years after the slaughter. In my opinion this is not good for hunters.

I've shot the 125gr. Rage xbow head. They have slightly stiffer retention for the faster speeds. Never killed anything yet though!

There's always guys on here looking for reasonably priced double barrels and dropping $5-700 on some Turkish pos. This is ten times the gun as any of those mossberg, cz's, or stoeger's will ever be. Someone buy this so I don't have to. I have no use for a gun that doesn't hold three shells or more but this is a steal!

+1. Do you even own anything that isn't "top of the line" "coolest thing ever made?" It doesn't matter if it's a gun, Scope, Binos or accessories. If wilderness1 has something for sale I want it. I almost never can afford it, but I want it.

This weekend I was out scouting for sign to start shed hunting for eastern whitetails. I drove down a road I've literally been down 2000 times in the last two years and something caught my eye. The snow had packed the grass down enough to get the tips up above it an inch or so. I assumed it was a 2015 shed but when I got to it and drug it up out of the grass I instantly knew where it belonged! I killed this buck in sept of 2014 and had one of his sheds picked up brown in math of 2014. Assumed the other was long gone. Still can't figure out why or how the rodents left it alone. On cloud 9 about finding it!! The deer's right horn is the one I picked up this weekend. The left one with the long brow tine was found brown in March '14 Here is the buck when I killed him in sept '14

I didn't get a chance to score the new shed I picked up yet but he didn't grow a ton. He went from 4.5 to 5.5 when I killed him. I didn't have pics or shed the previous year so I don't know how much he jumped from 3.5-4.5. He scored 161 gross when I killed him which is bigger then I thought he would be. I figured mid 150's but that 10" brow on the one side kinda threw off my numbers a bit!

Only regret is I didn't have my phone with me to get an ATL when I picked it up.

This is actually the only state that I've ever missed a year on. I HATED that they make you buy points in the late summer/fall. It's a busy time and I forgot one year and am now one point behind max for elk. HUGE mistake. If they would've had the option to buy the point in the spring when all the other draws are going I would NEVER have forgotten. I now only put in for tags so it's in the spring but when I was in college I missed one dang year because I didn't want to draw and waited to buy a point in the fall. Anyhow I know it's my fault but its the one and only state that does that and I think it really confuses things.

I was driving in western ND today and caught this herd of muleys out of the corner of my eye. Not really a big deal this time of year in ND to see deer from the highway as they will lay out in open places when the weather gets bad so it's not uncommon to see 100-300 deer from the interstate driving though here. Anyhow the one really caught my eye so I spun around and got a closer look. Doesn't look like a true albino but it's definitely got something going on. I'll have to keep my eyes on it this summer.

They stopped shooting muley does here in ND in 2010 after a really bad winter. The G&F finally realized that maybe shooting 70,000 does a year wasn't such a good idea. We've had 3 consecutive good winters in a row so I'm guessing they're gonna shoot the snot out of them again soon. Hate to see any wildlife around right?!? We have a similar love for the NDGF as you guys do down there!!

It's a hybrid. See the whiteface one? No eyegaurds!?! Hello!! Coues ALWAYS have eyegaurds and muleys NEVER have eyegaurds. We all know that antler shape is the most guaranteed way to tell if it's a hybrid. Also it must be 1/3 Hereford as well.

A cow buffalo has way less meat then a bull. We butchered one for a neighbor when I was a kid that I would be surprised if it had 15% meat on it. She weighed 700 pounds if I remmebr right and I would be surprised if she had 125-150# of meat. I big bull elk will have much more meat then a cow bison.

So what you're saying is kids can be put in for hunts and build points under 10 but not just points? Or is it only in the year they are 9 and about to turn 10?

I think what they forgot to factor in was global warming. El Niño moved north to Oregon because of global warming. Next time it comes around it'll be up in Alaska.

Like lark said, the Damascus barrels almost looked "wrapped". They usually aren't a really dark black or blue either, kind of a brownish color on the ones I've seen. I would almost guarantee it doesn't have Damascus battles but double check. If not then I'd just get some mild 2 3/4" #6's like the pheasant loads. Keep your shot to 40 yards and you'll be good.
