Wow! That's a great buck! I would wager to say that buck is bigger then just about every other buck shot on public land in Michigan this entire year! Way to go!
-
Awesome buck! Congrats!!

I guess I don't know what they're trying to catch people doing? If it's public land, the season is open, it's a legal animal, and you get out of the vehicle to shoot, what's the crime? They ran one of those on our property a few years back looking for trespassing poachers. Didn't get anyone to bite though. In my opinion they didn't have a big enough buck. It was a 125" whitetail (eastern). The poachers in our country aren't even gonna hit the brakes for a buck like that.

Sandhill Crane
yotebuster replied to Little Creek Calls's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I have read several different ways to prepare and cook them, what is your favorite? Filet off the outer fascia of the breast. Then split it down the middle to make two thin steaks. Salt and pepper and a little tony chacheres. Grill med rare and slice thin across the grain. Serve with a little horseradish. Awesome! The thighs are awesome but need to be roasted. The Gizzard is the best fries gizzard you'll ever have! Nothing not to love about cranes!! -

Those are awesome Bucks! -
I'm on same page as wht mtnman. Also I know I'll catch flack but I do 99% of my glassig in ND from the truck with a window mount. There is a road every mile so walking out to glass with 65x optics makes little sense. I actually use the overpasses on the interstate to get up high and glass from the truck as it's the only place to get up in our area!! The highway patrol don't like it, and you can't drink beer while you glass that way.

Anyone out there have a straight eyepiece they'd trade for this angled one? I'd be all over this if it was straight.

I'd say he's in the ballpark. Pretty much a shooter as they have to be something special and all original to have any collector value. Great shooting guns, personally if I was buying one I'd want a vented rib which adds value but some guys like them without. I'd start at $250 if I were selling it but $175 or so is prob more in line

If I had that tag I'd be glassing/hunting chevelon for a monster coues buck. I would wager there are more coues in that unit then muleys. Not saying there are a lot of coues but there sure as heck aren't many muleys!!

I'd buy the heck out of her if you were closer to ND. I'm pretty sure she would freeze to death by about December though! That's a good price! Bred commercial cows are bringing $2500-$3000 up here. They've slid off some the last month or two but not that far!

That's weird. Email it to yourself and try a different computer or your phone?

I've had a 2012 that I put 100k on. Traded it for an identical one in 2014 model in December. That one has 36k on already in 8 months. The best way I can describe it is you either have Eco or you have boost. Not both together. It'll get 25 mpg all day on flat ground with not wind at 52mph. The second it starts working then it all changes. I average 16.7 on mine but I drive 82 on interstate for 90% of my miles. Don't buy it for the fuel economy or you will be dissapointed. The power is absolutely unmatched by anyone out there. I've driven hemis and Toyotas with the big v8 and they don't hold a candle to the ecoboost. It's a totally diff type of power, much more like a diesel then a traditional gas. It will outpu my dads 7.3 power stroke all day (his is a little tired though with 300k). It also has way more power then his v10 super duty. We pull our 10k toy hauler to nm from nd with it every year. Pulls it down the interstate at 80 and rarely drops below 5th gear. It absolutely sucks the fuel though. We averaged 6.5 on the last trip. It went up a lot on two lane highway when we went 60-65. Again don't buy one for the mileage or you will be dissapointed. I had a problem with intercooler on my 2012 that they warrantied but I wouldn't buy a 2010-2012 unless the intercooler ha been updated as it puddled water in the turbo when it was cold and would suck it into the motor when you sh1t canned it. This would shut the engine into limp mode. Did it 2 or 3 times and they fixed it. 2014 has been awesome so far. I won't own another pickup as long as they keep making these.

I did find 3 of the 4. I'll post pics next weekend.

Wounded warrior hunt with AZ Diamond Outfitters

The tag was donated by a guy that had originally wanted to have a guided hunt but ended up not being able to come so he donated it through the Arizona elk society. That's very cool! -

One thing to add. If you go with the hardscrabble over the desert guide you will be getting water proof membrane. This is good and bad. It will cut down your breathability some, (not much however, as the windtex they use is way better then goretex imo). If you get the desert guide and silicon them then you will have no breathability, you could just as well wear a rubber boot in that case. So also decide if waterproof is a must have. If you're hunting in snow then I feel it is. If it's dtrictly desert (low desert) then the desert guides will breathe better.
-
I've had all three. I like my mtn extremes but I've had 3 ankle surgeries so I'm always worried about rolling them. The soles on the hardscrabble a and the mtn extenes are really soft. They will wear out in 1 maybe 2 years In the desert which is why they made the desert guide. I love the soft sole in the other two though and just haCE mine resoled every year or two. Costs $80 if I rmemebr right. I'm not willing to compromise grip for longer lasting soles personnally. So just decide if you want high or low tops and if you are ok resoling or not.

Just getting into muzzleloader any suggestions
yotebuster replied to joelpresmyk8's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
Good to hear! Mine was made by ultimate before Remington bought them out. I hear there very similar. If it's even close to the gun the ultimate made you're gonna love it! My only regret is not buying one sooner! -

What did you read about the ultimate in Utah? I thought I had researched it before I bought mine and it was legal? Just curious because that's gonna break my heart if I ever draw and can't use it! -
You don't wanna be wishing that. I refer all those bratty little kids to the dentist down the street!! You'd go broke in a hurry if you gave up as fast as I do!!! I may need to borrow your mad buffalo and goulds skills one of these days hopefully!
