If you drink beer, you should be drinking Budweiser. Golden Eagle Distributors Inc. is pleased to announce that during the 2004 hunting season, one cent for every case of Budweiser sold in our territory will go directly to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF). The NFWF will match it dollar for dollar, and will distribute the funds to Budweiser's outdoor conservation organizations: Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Buck Masters American Deer Foundation, Quails Unlimited, Delta Water Fowl, Quality Deer Management Association, and other deserving organizations. Has anybody been over Redington Pass lately (in the last month)? How is the road, rough or ok? Last year I found it quicker and easier to drive through San Manuel to Redington to get to the back side of the Rincons (from Tucson) than fight the pass road. Redman

Sorry, nothing to do with hunting
Redman replied to DesertBull's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Sorry Desertbull, you can thank NAFTA for your job loss. You know what? Everybody thought Ross Perot was a whack job at the time, but go back and see what he said about NAFTA and this man was DEAD ON! REDMAN -
Trouble and Danger in UNIT 34A
Redman replied to BACKCOUNTRY's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
For those who think the illegals have a significant positive impact on the economy because "they take the jobs American's won't" need to research the issue a little bit more and not repeat everything heared. I have researched this issue, and the negative impact illegal citizens have on this country is greater than benefits. With that being said, I hate to see people dying to get in this great country while others (citizens) in this country take every freedom for granted. If you ever camped in Southern AZ and came back to your camp to find it raided, your blood will boil and your feelings will change. Do we know at this point who murdered this hunter? No! Could have been somebody he knew him, drug runners, or illegals? YES.. All the above, only time will tell. The border remains a huge issue to this country and the land that supports the life of our passion, the gray ghost. Is it anybody?s fault? Yes, our government, that we elect, is not doing enough to keep our country safe. Then need to stop worrying about their political career build a barrier, put the US Military on the boarder, and stop illegal immigration of all nationalities NOT JUST Mexicans. This is why we PAY TAXES! Just wait until what is happening is Russia happens in the US, will it be the illegals Mexicans performing these barbaric acts? NO, but with the border so wide open our families are in danger. As AZ4Life said, protect yourself when hunting and think twice about the officials we elect. Ross Perot was correct, that sucking sound you hear are the high paying American jobs being sucked to Mexico, the bill (NAFTA) that passed though with the support of both parties, the demoncrats and the dumblicans. Just ask Desert Bull! Redman! -
Trouble and Danger in UNIT 34A
Redman replied to BACKCOUNTRY's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
While there is no way to prove from an article who actually murdered this man (somebody who knew him or unknown person), anybody who has hunted in S AZ has had to of seen the waste left by illegals or has been a victim of theft. Regardless of who murdered this man, hunting and camping is S AZ is dangerous. Just as AZ4LIFE mentioned it is time for the US government to protect its citizens and its land. Everybody on this board should write a letter to the AZ congress/representatives telling them its time for them to do their job and secure our boarder. Here is the contact information. http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/cgi-bin/...te=ctc&state=az Redman -

Last year three friends obtained left over tags in the unit. All three shot, one tagged a smaller 2 pt (in the mule mtns). I went with one friend for two days, we saw about 10 deer, two bucks that we could never get one. We walked around a bit checking out the area. I would actully like to hunt the area someday. We found a spot about 4 ridges (about 6 miles) back off the main highway to Bisbee that was prestine. The walk was tough and you could never get there in time if you left in the morning with a flashlight, it took about 2-3 hours. I would love to be there at sunup. On the last day of the hunt, my friend (i was not with) missed what he called Mr. Big. There were 6 bucks sparring in a circle. He setup to shoot when the guy he was with said "oh that is a big deer" then the friend began to shake and the rest was history. They saw these bucks one ridge over from the highway. There is a mountain range with a coral and H20 tank at the base. We parked about 1 mile down from the turn off that goes to Douglas (i think its Douglas its about 12 miles from Bisbee). Thats all if know. Andy

Manamal, Last year I fooled around with a call in Jan, I called in a few deer, most of the time the deer will stop and look back, but one deer I will never forget. I spotted a group of deer walking through the trees (unit 33 Rincons). As I began to get close (60-80 yds). All I saw were white flags running everywhere. I blew on my call and buck (I think was a 3pt) stoped, turned around, and made a b-line straight towards me. I kneeled down below a small mound and panicly tried to take my pack off. My range finder was caught on the pak's chest buckle which made manners worse. When I finally got my pack off, the deer was standing no more than 5-10 yds from me stomping the ground. I pulled back, and let the arrow go. All I saw was my call flying and the deer running away. I forgot to take the dang call out of my mouth. The bow string caught it when I released it. My heart which was was beating about 180 bps seemed to stop as the call flew to the ground. I tell you, there was no way I was going to miss the shot, all my pins were on the deer. So, yes calls do work, but make sure you take them out of your mouth when releaseing your arrow! Redman

Here is the link to the refuge, it even contains a map of the area, it confrims as with the emails there are "hogs in dem hills" http://southwest.fws.gov/refuges/arizona/b...es/hunting.html Redman

I have heard there are hogs in unit 32 buy Redfield Canyon on the Smallhouse property. I have never seen them, but a good friend knows the owner and said he had been invited to rid them off his property. Redman

There are quite a few of left over tags in 30B. Check the G&F website, there is still a chance for those who did not get drawn. Redman

I never hunted in NM and many of my hunting partners did not draw a tag (any tag). We were thinking about OTC in NM. How is the rest of 23 that is open to OTC? How about unit 16? Any info would be great. Redman

Scottboy, For the last three years I have hunted in 33. 2 for 3 (i missed three bucks the year I did not tag). I have seen big bucks (some with tags, some running wild, but I have never had the opportunity to tag one). I like three areas. 1. Bueman Cayon (which is in the Rincons around mile post 15 on the Redington Pass RD) 2. Happy Valley exit 297 off I-10 3. Pepersauce Area buy Oracle. As trufletch mention go 2-3 ridges from the road, and you will not find but a few hunters. I suggest scouting all three, then driving the roads during the Oct hunt, you will see where the majority of people congregate. If you need more information on any three of the areas above areas let me know. I drew a 32 nov tag this year, my nephrew drew his first tag in 33 in Oct, so we will be doing plenty of scouting. Lark, I just read it, the numbers speak for themselves. " With 62 deer thriving in the pen, and only about four deer surviving in similar areas and under similar conditions outside the pen" Then this wacko from the sierra phub says this "If Game and Fish winds up saying we should kill more coyotes and mountain lions, I'm not sure where that would take us" This retard wants to neuter or spay coyotes or lions instead of "shooting" them. Things are getting out of control. Thanks for posting the article, I would of never seen it. Andy

Obviously, Buster has clearly shown he is a liberal, atheist, and he is baiting us into arguments while suggesting those on this board are an enemy like the enemy our men and women are facing it Iraq ( I sure Buster prefers the word "insurgents" to describe the throat cutting enemy) There are many people like Buster. They want the Federal court to decide some cases like this while disregarding each State?s rights to govern itself and serve it residents. This is almost ALWAYS the truth, until a subject like gay marriage comes up. Then it?s the State?s right to decide how and who gets married, better yet they prefer city governments make these decisions because they know it easier to serve their own interests. They are also very good at confusing the facts and bating arguments like: ?Coues deer=superior deer, mule deer=CARP before last Tuesday" to "mule deer=first rate deer today" issue. Can you CW guys say "double standard" I?m sure 98% of us on this board don?t care about the mule deer cap, but will fight to the end to keep the BULL ELK CAP. You know what?s funny, the $2500 he and others donated hasn?t done anything yet other than make one liberal judge change his mind. This issue is far from over and while I believe our G&F commissioner is a incompetent, maybe he will lead a solution that protects the rights of Arizona residents more than the current system. Buster, being wealthy is great everybody would love to have money instead of being without. It doesn?t mean you?re a bad person. What makes you a bad person is when you make comments like (and I?m paraphrasing) ?wouldn?t you like to draw a mouse or elk tag in other states?, this is a slap in the face to those who can?t afford to travel to these other states. You assume because you can, everybody can. Right now, Arizona residents have the opportunity to hunt trophy elk for less than $100.00. Good luck Buster, and everybody remember he and others like him serve their own interests.

The cap applies to ALL BULL elk and only deer units about the C. River. New Mexico has a different way of implementing a cap. 78% of all tags go to residents. This leaves 22%. 12% of the 22% go strictly to outfitters they can deploy this tags however they want. The remaining 10% go to non-residents In the NW system, the outfitters make out great. They get STRICTLY 12% of the tags, but also have the opportunity to guide non-residents and residents that draw a tag not from their pool of 12%. Redman
-
Terry, The cap appiles for deer units ONLY aboe the C river 12 & 13, BUT The cap appiles to ALL BULL ELK, ANT, BIG HORN SHEEP, AND BUFFALO (they really only wanted the strip and to hunt bull ELK that is why they sued, only deer and ELK were mentioned in the suit thats why the cap will still apply to other speicies\). I read this a couple of time in the reqs to understand it. Redman

Greetings, I have thought about the ruling a lot since my lost post, I wish I could attend the meeting tomorrow but I cannot. If it is apparent that the ruling will stand and will affect this years draw results, please somebody attending suggest the following (if you agree). 1. Raise the amount non-residents pay for a tags substantially. 2. Require all applications to be paid for up-front when applying 3. Raise all guide fees for non-resident guides substantially. 4. Do not let them postpone the releasing of the draw results. Redman
-
This really irritates me for a few reasons: 1. Why is Arizona being singled out when other states have quota systems? 2. Why did the G&F not move faster and release the results sooner knowing this ruling was close. 3. It is a possibility that I will never be drawn for bull elk. A solution should be: 1.Raise the permit fees for non-residents to astronomical amount >$2000.00 2.Require payment to be sent in with the application 3.Make all states abolish quota systems This should be appealed and since the outcome affects some many individuals, it should be heard quickly. In the overall scheme of things, I got my health, family, and archery season starts soon enough. Redman

I wonder if the same person who has been sending the fishing reports, wildlife news, and watch able wildlife news (emails) is responsible for updating the website with the draw results. Can anybody say prioritize???
