  7. funny thing is theres plenty of people on archery talk that says its just fine and dandy There are plenty of people on archery talk that have an IQ less than 90. All I am saying is shooting something that is meant to open on contact through cloth mesh and then hoping it doesn't open is not logical. I would also say there are various thickness / stiffness of mesh, the angle the arrow travels through and the integrity of the rubber band all play a factor if it would open- any one of these could be the determining factor.
  8. IMO- logically it doesn't make sense to shoot a mechanical through mesh

    Deer Leftovers

Leftover tags is a "game to play", the list is getting shorter and shorter and one must realize they could be skunked for a season. I was for one season and it sucked. For me, I would rather hunt than not- if I was to hold out for a strip tag, I wouldn't be able to walk by the time I drew one. A late Dec WT is awesome, I had one last year, I find the true advantage for a late Dec tag is MUCH few hunters in the field- problem is last year it rained (very hard) and snowed during the days I had off so it was a bit of a downer. I can't take 15 days off work for the whole hunt- still had a great time but the weather sucked. My third choice this year was a unit that had left over tags (1st and 2nd was a "trophy hunt") I drew a tag and I am as happy as can be. My third choice will always be a 30 something tag- rather hunt than not. Good luck to all!
  11. cant wait until Friday.... hopefully bear down!
  12. Anybody have a portable generator with a remote start? How does the remote start work (cold weather)? Need at least 3000 watt for the travel trailer- portable as I will need to lug it or eventually mount it. Honda's are probably the best, but also over $2K Champion 3100w - I had the non-remote start and was very happy with it. Probably get the model with remote. <$800 Firman? Liflan? Others? Appreciate any insight. Thanks
  13. Thermacel! I can see a zone of bugs around me. I am one that gets bit skeeters 10x more than others.... my wife and I can be standing outside next to each other and I will get 4-5 bites and she gets none.

Let's talk generators for travel trailers

wanted to give an update on this topic, I ended up getting the Champion 3100W with remote. I have taken it on two camping trips (5 and 4 days each) and I absolutely love it. The remote start is so convenient, yeah starting a generator is not hard, but for my wife or kids it can be. I have left the "on switch- on" for almost the entire time and it started every time, I was worried the battery would go dead (and the remote start not work) thus far it has not. It can still be started with the pull start. It will push the microwave OR the A/C (not booth at the same time). Its not loud - or noticeably louder than my friends Honda. I would recommend it any day of the week.
  15. the game and fish website gives multiple good starting areas, you can find a specific area from there.. its not a difficult unit to find a place - plenty of country.

    ..

beauty is in the eye of the TAG holder... Nice bull, in some units I would shoot him opening morning, other units I would pass - but there are some many other reasons to shoot or not. It all matters what the tag holder wants to do.

    Ditching TV?

interesting topic, thanks to those that have shared how they watch TV without traditional satellite or cable. I have been thinking of the same, but love the NFL Sunday ticket... plus where i live the internet is not that fast (yet) I use Comcast (used to use Centrylink).
  18. That is a great deal. It should be gone today
