Leica Rangemaster 1000 R - Anybody using one???
Redman replied to mattys281's topic in Optics and tripods
been looking at one (and all other Rangefinders), one thing that stands out to me is the 1000R only corrects for angle to 600 yds.... I would like one further for target practice, etc... -
I saw that a CL and you beat me to it...hope its not hot

The biggest question is when to clean..... how many rounds, etc.

My son Jake took his second coues deer yesterday in unit 22.... he is ten (has had two hunts in less than a year). Its been a long time since I have been on a early jr. hunt.... time made me forget the heat and bugs (gnats were HORRIBLE even with 100% deet)....needless to say his next hunt will be in Nov. After a rough three days of spotting 8 bucks (all in too hard of places to take a 10 year old) we finally glassed this buck and another buck at 9:45 yesterday... the bucks laid down and we had to wait about an hour, this gave us ample time to get Jake setup in the prone position, we really could not move into a better /closer spot. So we moved back and Jack was able to get in the prone position. After some time this buck stood up and Jake let a shot out, missed high just over, dialed the turret and he shot again, missed, told him to settle down and let the trigger surprise him... final shot was fatal. 440 yds, longer than I wanted but there was a huge canyon between us... straight down and up... we struggled to find him once we drove around and got on the hill... but it all worked out. congrats to all the youth hunters and my hats off to the mothers and fathers for getting them out!!

Bear Down!! In Rid Rod we trust!! Wonder what Michigan is thinking now.... Now only is ASU can beat up on USC (cough...cough, but still lose... )

Sounds like you are very happy, does it provide MIL adjustments?

nice going very successful and looks like you had a wonderful time , a note... LMAO

Yeah that was a butt kicking last night.... Too bad Mike Stoops was the coach at the UA, Hundley would be the starting QB for AZ. Doesn't get any easier for ASU.... UA has a big game next Thursday, after humiliating the Ducks last year, I sure Oregon wants payback... Rich Rod better get that defense in order, the O seems to be able to score

Thanks everybody for reading my topic. I know a lot of good people that hunt hard and things just don't fall into place to harvest an animal. We were blessed to harvest three. You just never know when you may not be able to chase animals again, I hope everybody takes in every moment, enjoys the outdoors, family, and friends when they are out....

Total cost of trip, doesn't matter where and varies by age.

It's a matter of risk vs reward. I am not sure what the rates are for an 84 year old, but it has too be significant, does the cost of the insurance really reimburse the hunter enough if he can't go... It would be different if he was 24... The cost of the insurance is much less. If he is traveling overseas he may want to explore health insurance and Mediflight
