    30-06 For Long Range?

Advice I would recommend that CLEARLY MADE me decide which scope to purchase.....go to Sportsmen's Wareshouse or another store, look thru different scopes. TURN THE POWER ALL THE WAY UP, (for long range I would recommend variable scope with > 15 power) and pick something on the wall and read the print. Do this for each scope I was amazed on the differences in quality. I know you mentioned Nikon (which is a decent scope) but on high power there was NO comparison between the Nikon and Zeiss or Leupold VX-3L... the Vortex are better than Nikon, but do the test for yourself...... I chose the Leupold because it had more MOA than the Zeiss (much more) with the 30mm tube. Everybody's eyes are different, but buy nice....or buy twice. Go with the reticle you like, use a ballistic program and count the number of clicks...target turrets are easier, but bottle caps turrets can be used... as mentioned above, good rings and bases are a must.

    30-06 For Long Range?

I am not expert, but with the right grain of bullet and MOA adjustment of scope (turrets of reticle) a .30-06 is more than capable of being a 500 yd gun...which is very far IMO I'd say invest in a good scope now (I mean spend the big bucks on a good quality scope.....) as it can always be moved to another gun. Get some loads of a lighter grain of bullet and practice practice. I am sure as you become more proficient, you will determine for yourself if you will need or want a "typical long range caliber gun'. IMO there are three variables in long range shooting. 1. The Shooter 2. The equipment 3. The conditions Start with number 1.

    Good broadhead target

Reinhardt have had one for 3 years and it has taken many shots plus you can shoot field points also in to... 18-1 target (is the name) I use. Could not be happier.

Ted does a lot of good for gun and hunting rights... but his recent comments and actions are ridiculous. Maybe he knew something before making the controversial statement below.....as his action in Alaska could have landed him in jail.. "if Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year"....

    HHA Optimizer SIght

I do not know much about the HHA sight, but I have read many archers are happy with them. I use a Sure-Loc Lethal Weapon Max movable pin sight... it has 3 pins and the lower pin is a floater from 40 - 100 yds. Within a second it can be adjusted. I shoot much better with the slider sight, however with a multi pin sight there was a security of the pins above and below that helped me settle on animals....it much different to have a single pin with a reference (I converted my sight from a single pin to a 3 pin)... Sure-Loc is improving the sight this June making the pins better and incorporating the IQ retina technology but they are going to be pricey. Spot Hogg also has a movable sight pin in three different models. I would recommend you look at the classifieds on archery talk... they are many movable sights even HHA for a great price.... that's my two cents...

Even better... it does state the date of May 9 in the regs... this is good news to me. I hated to have to put in the AZ draw not knowing New Mexico... I gonna get a Caldera tag!

    unicorn bull

bet that thing kills a lot of other bulls when its older if it continues to grow a horn like that.... that thing is like a spear.
  20. In-Line, Thompson Center are hard to beat. I have the Omega and its very easy to care for and clean. Never have had any problems. Loading the primers in a rush can be difficult, but have gotten off three shots before. A buddy has the Encore, after watching him shoot and reload. If you can afford it, get the Encore. Probably the best advice I can give you is to use Blackhorn 209. It makes cleaning the gun so much easier. http://www.blackhorn209.com/ Another buddy does not have an in-line (think its a Remington) that thing is a pain the butt to clean.... good luck

What do you think about the BP system?

It can be very frustrating.... what units does your dad put in for? After reviewing the odds it seems there is only a marginal improvement of drawing between 12-19 points and in some units there are virtually no better odds of drawing with 20 points vs 10 (unit 34B)... I maybe reading the odds incorrectly. Either way even with max bonus points the odds are nothing to get too excited about, take 17A there is a 4% chance of drawing with 20 points... that means there is a 96% chance of not drawing... Never looked at Nevada's system... There is more demand than supply.

I guess we are to blame

One can read into as they may, but one line sums it up enough for me. "But this situation is unacceptable and our customers deserved better. We'll be conducting a detailed review of the process and procedures internally and with the vendor to fix problems to ensure they don't occur in the future." It is unacceptable and it better not occur again.
