    Late Season Bull Elk Hunt

Great story, sounds like a awesome time. Redman
  3. This year was my first hunting with a muzzle loader. After getting drawn in New Mexico for mule deer I purchased a used Thompson Center Omega and began to shoot. Finally settled in on Blackhorn 209, Thompson Center Sabots and Remington Primers I felt pretty good shooting out to 200 yds. A buddy and I hunted in New Mexico and both were fortunate to take a couple of nice mule deer. I had missed a few times but finally connected on the last evening of my hunt. Felling pretty good I put in for HAM hunt in AZ. Come Jan 1, I found a herd about 30 minutes after sun up...... but with no tag in my pocket, I had to sit and watch. I probably found 5 more herds in January and just knew I was not going to find a herd during the HAM hunt. I got back into town late last night and with only one day to hunt, I went out. Deciding to go where I was on Jan 1, I was fortunate to find the herd no further than 500 yds from where I had seen them in Jan and it was on. Got within 50yds and put the hammer down on this gal. Pretty fun thanks for reading. Redman
  4. Boil it.....that is what I just did with my Javillina skull.....and have done many deer heads that way also Redman
  5. Please offer suggestions, I currently have a 300WSM and looking for a deer rifle with less kick and one that is a flat shooter (will use factory loads) I really do not enjoy shooting the 300WSM due to the kick and knocking me off my aim (plus I flinch....yeah I'm a [you add the adjective]). My 300WSM does not have a muzzlebreak...wondering if I should install one and go from there. Couple of questions to go with your suggestions 1. What does a muzzlebreak cost to get installed (this comes into consideration if I should purchase a new rifle), any suggestion on where to get one installed? 2. Does a 7mm have noticeibly "less" kick than a 300WSM? Thanks for the suggestions. Redman

    new fish and game Gods

D-Bomb, I do not know you from Adam, can you really say that you did not know about the new requirement? If you did not, then the G&F officer handled it perfectly.....if you did and CHOSE not to have a sticker, then you need to step up and take responsibility for YOUR actions..... Yeah the sticker is b.s....but to ignore it and flame somebody for doing their job (who cut you a break) is irresponsible. Redman
  7. Nice, where did you purchase the ammo at? Redman
  8. Hi All, Thanks for all the help, I went with a Tikka T3 .25-06 and the thing shoots like a dream, the adjustable trigger is sweet. The kick is so nice, I love watching the bullet hit the target threw the scope. Plus ammo costs are reasonable for "custom" factory loads. Redman

January 2010... another one to remember!

I am sorry....I take offense to this thread ....and their wonderful success....not only do they put the smack down on great bucks....but they are making me envious....with only 1 more day that I can hunt in Jan, I could only wish to arrow A buck and would give my left pinkey to shoot one like those bucks.... Great pictures and great job! But January 2011 is a long time away (I have to make myself feel better somehow ) Redman

    Soup and Sandwich...

Thanks for sharing your story, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but there is a reason big bucks are far and few between, sometimes skill, effort and luck are ALL needed....sounds like luck eluded you. December hunts can be extremely overrated in the terms of size of antlers.....I wonder if the big 4x4 was killed by a hunter holding a left over tag? Like you said with something so highly anticipated there can be much disappointment. Redman

    Stolen Bow

Ex-ASU football player convicted of murder An Arizona jury laid down a murder-2 conviction for Loren Wade, the ex-Arizona State football player we reported on earlier who found with steroids in his blood. Report here by AzStarNet. Former Arizona State running back Loren Wade was convicted Thursday of second-degree murder in the slaying of another ex-Sun Devils football player. The 23-year-old Wade was on trial for first-degree murder in the death of Brandon Falkner, who was shot outside a Scottsdale nightclub on March 26, 2005. Prosecutors claimed Falkner was shot because Wade saw him talking to his girlfriend. Falkner was 25........... Redman
  25. As always...you provide the information needed....you should think about changing your name to Dr. Red Rabbit or something..... I have the solution in my safe already, my son's .243 (which has already claimed 3 coues), add a little trigger work, swap of scope, and whola we both win! Still gonna get a muzzlebreak on the 300WSM....never know when he and I will have the same hunt, don't want him to devleop bad habits like me carrying the 300WSM Thanks everybody for the help, Redman
