    Duel in the Desert

Let's see WORKING, EARNING A LIVING....oh I forgot....Willie is not as successful as you and your seven figure salary (way to be little somebody working BTW)....but any person working, earning a living is much better that this POS.... Ex-ASU football player convicted of murder An Arizona jury laid down a murder-2 conviction for Loren Wade, the ex-Arizona State football player we reported on earlier who found with steroids in his blood. Report here by AzStarNet. Former Arizona State running back Loren Wade was convicted Thursday of second-degree murder in the slaying of another ex-Sun Devils football player. The 23-year-old Wade was on trial for first-degree murder in the death of Brandon Falkner, who was shot outside a Scottsdale nightclub on March 26, 2005. Prosecutors claimed Falkner was shot because Wade saw him talking to his girlfriend. Falkner was 25........... Redman
  3. As always...you provide the information needed....you should think about changing your name to Dr. Red Rabbit or something..... I have the solution in my safe already, my son's .243 (which has already claimed 3 coues), add a little trigger work, swap of scope, and whola we both win! Still gonna get a muzzlebreak on the 300WSM....never know when he and I will have the same hunt, don't want him to devleop bad habits like me carrying the 300WSM Thanks everybody for the help, Redman
  4. Not even sure how to ask this question, but what is an ideal "energy" to effectively put down a coues (assumeing it was a well placed shot) I know there are a lot of varibles to consider? Redman

    Which sight?

Just ordered the Sure Loc Sportsman Special, pricey but I wanted a single slider with a 3rd axis level, I have heard thier customer service is second to none. I have used a multiple pin sight (Spot Hogg 7DP) and found with my bow speed the pin gaping is minimal. Unfortunatly I have made enough "rushed" shots to have learned if I cannot range a animal, to let it walk. I am very intrigued by the Axcell sights, not sure if I would have purchased one, but definitely would have given them a second look. If anybody is in the market for a Spot Hogg 7 Deadly Pin with the wrap (4 pins 0.19 and 3 at 0.10) right handed, let me know.....maybe trade for something? Redman

Way to go.....what an uncle to take two boys (brothers at that) hunting for few days...can you say patience? Redman
  9. Great info and thanks to all for the replies. Need to get off the bench, it has made me flinchy..... I have a Winchester 300 WSM Supershadow (not a high end gun, but still a pretty good shooter), a muzzlebreak will cost roughly around $300, not bad considering a new rifle will cost 3-4 times that....we have a .243 (my son's gun) been thinking of putting some work into it and "borrowing" it. Need to ask these questions now so I can get my rifle sent off or get a new one (since I am done for a year, hopefully after Jan I will not have to worry about a new rifle ....) Thanks Again, Redman
  10. Anybody use the claw with a Slik Sprint Pros EZ? I recently pickup a Claw and shot with it today, it was steady, but wonder if the tripod being used lead to it not being as steady as I had thought? Thanks Andy
  11. This week on my way to Lost Wages (Las Vegas), as I was driving through Boulder there was a herd of big horns off the side of the road in almost in Boulder.....they were there both days, these things did not have a care in the world. It was cool seeing them, pictures are from my Blackberry.

    Muzzle Loader

I was also new this year to ML. I did not buy a "starter kit" but picked up the following items: ML Cleaning Kit with extra patches T/C Bore Butter 209 Primer remover Blackhorn 209 T/C Powder Measure by volume 209 Remington Kleenbore Primers Sabots (settled on T/C Shockwave 250 grain with 90 grain of Blackhorn powder) "ramrod sabot adaptor, don't know what its officially called but made for your sabot so when you load it, it does not harm the tip) T/C speedloaders (black ones) Good luck it is fun to "tinker" Redman

    Would you go?

That's is a tough situation, but I would go...the question is do I bivy or not? If I did bivy, I would be sure to setup at night in a location that is not "conducive" for smugglers to travel (top of the mountain or rocky slides, etc), once your hunting its like hunting in any other Southern Unit... 14. Greetings, I have been reading the NM Game and Fish regs and cannot find what a legal deer is, I see FAD (Forked Antlered Deer), I have not hunted in New Mexico for 4 or 5 years and a deer used to have 3 points on one side (eye guard counted as a point).... I cannot find..... but I think a forked deer is now legal (two points on one side, eye guards do not matter).... can anybody help point me to the rule? Looking forward to my muzzleloader hunt in 23 in two weeks....anybody have that hunt? Redman

    Frustrated with groups

I was having issues with my T/C Omega grouping. Today I tried 250 gr T/C Shockwave with 95 gr Blackhorn powder, Remington Klenbore 209 primers. 3 inch groups at 100yds. Started with 100 grains of Blackhorn, groups were 4-6 inches (which were not much differnt that the other sabots I tired), backed down the powder to 95 gr and groups got noticeably smaller. Also.... first day using bore butter and LOVE bore butter....so much easier to load. Swabbed with spit and dry patch every three shots. May sound funny, but 5 grains less powder made all the difference for me. Redman

    Salt licks

While I agree with Gino, but isn't the part stating "fair chase" again descriminating from hunters that choose to particpate in a legal method of hunting.....there are ranch, fence, high fence hunting that is legal....again differnt strokes for differnt folks...just something to think about... Elk late rut

2010 9-10 is when the hunt will start next year. When the bulls are not bugleing or responding to calls, the Sept hunt is like the Nov archery hunt...

Worst elk hunt I ever had

There seems to be a very common theme on the quality of the archery hunts this year.... You only hope the person who shot was shooting at an animal, not just taking a shot at the sound or your son, one would think after you alerted the person they would "come clean". Just think, next year the rut will start on Sept 10! While scouting with a friend, we ran into a nice gentleman who was very excited to have an archery bull tag....he said "only 240 tags" this should be a great hunt, we said.....double that number.... there will be that many (240) more cow hunters.....I felt we just took the air out of him like a ballon...
