    New Scope

great point Casey, long range shooting will always be more about practice and knowing your equipment rather than just having it. Really? Yesterday I saw a Remington commercial that said "rifle is hunt ready right out of the box"....since the scope was bore sighted, it shows a three shot pattern on paper.... One must practice long shots to be proficient at it, some people are inherently better shots that others. I do not think alexjh1 ever made any reference to long range shooting...just he thought the BDC reticle was cool. Everybody starts somewhere. Redman

    Health Care Plan

More people responded to the cash for clunkers than thought.... There had to be a limit on the funding..... 1 billion probally seemed like a big number...... The government's fix is simple....... More TAX PAYER FUNDS for this program........ THE CASH FOR CLUNKERS IS BULL SH** to begin with.... Why should my tax dollars go towards another American to drive a new car?????? At least 11 Billion a month for the war in Iraq...... Countless other billions to save GM....... GM should have been dissolved before the end of 2008...... but our idiot government gave them a handout.....now the American tax payer owns them..... Redman.....in need of billions....

    Health Care Plan

The bill as it stands is a mess and I doubt there will ever be a good bill for all sides, however, some of the points provided and the "comments or narration" are solely to excite a knee jerk response. One should read it themselves and draw thier own conclusions. Hopefully this bill will not be voted on until Oct, by then the public and experts can closely examine it. Redman

    New Scope

??? Well, my Leupold was not a high end Leupold (VX II 3 x 9), I really like the quality of the Bushnell and there are some very good reviews on it. To get a similar scope in Leuplod, one would have to spend at least double the $$. My Leupold is going on my muzzleloader... Hopefully I will not even need to use my new scope since I will hope to arrow a buck in August Redman

    New Scope

I have seen that scope (Nikon) at Bearbasin for less $$ than you would spend at Cabela's. I just picked up a Bushnell 4200 6-24 x 44. Mil dot for $329 shipped. I currently have a Leupold but a friend had the Bushnell and I liked it much better. We will see how it goes. Redman

    photo radar ticket

Why are there more "radar photo enforced" signs posted than speed limit signs? Why are there more "radar photo enforced" signs on the left hand side of a 6 or 8 lane freeway? Its hard to even find a speed limit sign on the left side of the freeway, try adding taffic ....its really not that "easy"....not sure how much you drive, but I can tell you almost every mobile van is a setup where speed limits change. photo radar ticket

LIKE MANY HAVE SAID PRIOR, THROW IT IN THE TRASH!!!! You will have to be legally served. The more people who throw them in the trash, the faster these darn cameras will be removed. I have drove over 60K miles in a little over a year and a half in Arizona (mostly in the sh*t hole of Phoenix). All these cameras do is cause people to speed and slam on thier brakes.....speed and slam on thier brakes..... The cameras do not deter or change a person's driving habits...they make them worse. Don't wait !!!

Kent and Cheryl, Words cannot describe how sorry we are for your loss. Kent, you have been one of the kindest person I met, I am sure Brett shared your kind heart and the world has lost a great person. Sincerely, The Stephens
  11. hunterdude, thanks for the reply, I found the problem, the trailer brake wire (blue) had a short in it. Got it working and trailer brakes (even with a pop up) are great! Redman
  12. Greetings, I have an 01 chevy silverado. I have not used a brake controller before, but know have a need to. I purchased a brake controller and wiring harness and hooked it up. There are four wires going to the brake controller. The black is hot all the time, the red gets hot when the brakes are pressed, but the blue wire does not get hot at the hitch (the controller says trailer not connected). I checked the blue wire under the hood (under the fuse box by the battery) and it is connected. All other lights work at the hitch (brake, turn, running and AC wire). Should the blue wire get hot at the hitch when the brake is pushed? Any help would would be helpful. Redman

    loose or pellets?

While I am new to ML, I have been doing a lot of research on powder and sabots. I have found nothing BUT GOOD things said about Blackhorn 209 powder. http://www.blackhorn209.com/ , in fact I cannot find a bad opinion on it other than the price. I also found an interesting sabot testing article: http://www.hpmuzzleloading.com/Technical.html. I am going to try the Dead Center 260 grain sabots (and others) http://www.prbullet.com/ Finally I am going to use Federal Primers. Redman

    Amazing Optic Finds

Be-aware......good deals can be found....but if it seems to good to be true, it probally is. I was going to purchase a pair of Swaro 10-42 el a year or so ago, but something did not seem correct, I called Swaro with the serial number and it was not valid ( I was sure I wrote it down correctly)...needless to say I did not buy. If the person has the receipt from a authorized vendor and it all checks out go for it! Redman

    Good Idea or Not

Anybody that is against the youth over the counter tag is a selfish ahole...plain and simple. Me and a couple of friends went hunting this weekend. One friend had his son, the other friend had his nephew, I went with my two sons (one 12 and the other 5), two youth hunter tagged out (my son did not) but we saw a ton of elk, deer, coyote and turkeys. It was a great time, my five year old saw many "Jedi Turkeys" and has been talking about it every day. Maybe its just me, but come on....it a dang turkey! Does any adult scout for a "record book turkey"? Redman

    need help with weight.

For deer I would say Easton Full Metal Jacket 400 (but they are costly). Redman

    need help with weight.

Using your draw length (keep in mind you are right on line for 340 or 400), if you go up in poundage you will be a 340. Easton makes multiple arrows that weigh differently (this is just an example, I would check the weights for your self). As Bownut said 340/400 is the spine of arrow, but as the spine changes so does the weight of the arrow. 100 grain tip nock = 9 gr insert = 16 gr 3 blazer vanes= 18 gr With an Easton 400 9.0 Axis total weight: 390 With an Easton 340 9.5 Axis total weight: 404 With Easton 400 10.1 FMJ total weight: 423 With Easton 340 11.3 FMJ total weight: 454 There is a whole debate on Kinetic Energy vs penetration....but IMO I like a heavier arrow (425-450) when hunting elk....I went to Archery Headquarters and shot mutliple arrows and settled on the FMJ, Hard to get a heavy arrow with a short draw like us. Redman

    need help with weight.

The 340 FMJ are 11.1.gpi. FMJ are bad azz arrows, but costly. Redman

    Rage Broadheads

I have not used Rage on an elk so cannot comment how it will do on an elk, but I have used them on smaller game and they did the trick. I had trouble with the blades "deploying" from taking the arrow in and out of my quiver, when your in the heat of the moment, its not good to worry about the blades (I did not have a mechnical quiver). I "wanted" to try them so I did, they fly great (but I have never had a broadhead that didn't), I will not use Ragebroadhead anymore because of the blade issue (unless I get a smoken deal on them, and would not use them on elk). I have killed one elk with Magnus Stingers and two with WacEms all three were complete pass throughs. I would like to try a couple of new broadheads: NAP BloodRunner and the Smoke Broadhead. Redman
