    Spring left over tag

What kills me is this: Say you do not tag out on the first hunt, and there are leftover tags for a second or third hunt, you still cannot get a left over tag. This year I drew an archery deer tag and did not tag out......I am still watching the leftover rifle tags with envy and would love to pick one up, but cannot since I already obtained a tag through the draw.....one tag is issued per draw.. I have heard a lot of people claim the Game and Fish only cares about money, but they are letting money expire on their shelves. Redman

    Dad's Nov Coues

Yep i'm at that age where I'm gonna be used as pack mule. Getting this deer off the mountain was a combined effort though between my dad, uncle and I. The hardest part was when I wasn't even carrying the deer! It was when I had my huge pack and two rifles to carry down that mountain. At the end of the day I think each of us fell about ten times. Success hardly ever comes easy, sometime carry the deer is easier than all the other crap. Take every day in with you family and live in the now! \ Redman

    Dad's Nov Coues

Sweet! So who carried the deer off the mountain? The reason I ask is that I have been keeping track, my son owes me 2 deer and 1 javillina!! Can't wait for him to get older to be my pack mule. Redman

    31 - stumped

Hey AZOneCam, You have obviously been hunting longer than I have, but I believe most hunters put too much pressure on each other ( I am one of those). It can be a demanding sport and it brings out the hard headedness in all of us. There is so much anticipation leading up to opening day, then when things don't play out as they did in our mind (that magical big buck does not step right out) it can be discouraging...even reading replies to your post, which I think are truly genuine advice, hunters have frowned on other hunters and they way they hunt. Do what makes you happy, don't worry about what others are doing. This weekend I was out with a friend we got on the hill before light and were glassing, not long after the sun came up, the quads began to rolling down the road, two years ago, I would have been pissed and would have wanted to trek further away....but at about that time I glassed two bucks on the hill...... remember what you like about hunting and what you don't like...... RV 101

Dear GameHauler, Need some help/advice. This weekend I hit a tree branch with my popup which resulted in a hold about the size of a fist in the front panel, no other damage. What is the best way to repair? Thanks Redman

    World Record Bull

The "spider bull" is a free ranging bull and was pursued by many hunters this fall. If you visit Bowsite or Monster Mullies there has been plenty of talk about this bull for the past 4 or 5 months, it eluated hunters last year. Redman

    Another 3C Bull....

I was very fortunate to get this bull, after putting in for a long time I drew an elk tag. The hunt was great. I was able to share it with most of my long time friends and a new friend that I met on CWT.com After seeing and passing on multiple bulls and getting busted by many other bulls (some bigger, some smaller, see AZRAYN’s post….) it all came together. After hunting for 6 days with friends of 25+ years, they had to leave and get back to the world, suddenly I found myself alone (in the previous year I had taken an elk in Colorado by myself, and I knew I would be in for a chore), but a CWT member I had recently met (KRP) said he would be able to hunt Wed night and Thurs if needed, I gave him a call…game on! KRP arrived before 2:00 pm on Wed, after getting ready, we set out in an area that we were going to give 30 minutes or so. Immediately we got a response from our bugle and we set out. Not much happened after that, wind changed…. same story that I had experienced for the past week….., we and decided to go to another area….. then we spotted some cows, as I went to cut them off KRP motioned that a bull was coming right at me. I got into position and all of a sudden another bull was coming out of the timber but below me. The bull coming towards me turned around and began posturing for the bull below and began to rake a tree, I stalked up and got within 20 yds. I had a dilemma on my hands, I was trying to figure out which bull to go after….but with a bull at 20 yds, I drew back, the bull spotted me, barked and took off and began bugling. I motioned to KRP to call and the bull below came in on a string, I ranged a tree at 40 yds and when the bull stepped out, I let my arrow fly but it missed low, I knocked another arrow (and it came off the string, once or twice as I began to shake) I finally got another arrow knocked and ranged the bull at 60 yds, the arrow left my bow and sound great, but I could not see the bull as it ran off, KRP said the shot sounded good and watched the bull go in circles, not wanting to celebrate to soon we waited, then we began walking up and found him piled up no more than 46 yds from where he stood. The WacEm from my PSE X-Force below through. The rest is history… after 6 hours or so, I was asleep in my bag. At least once every hunter should experience an archery bull hunt. I cannot thank KRP enough for his help and all my other friends for making this a memory of a lifetime. I had also met some other great hunters from AZ and other states…. Redman

14 days of living with the Elk

Nice looking pictures there, now that you got your first bull, you can set a size a goal for the next time (that is what I plan on doing). Redman

    Another 3C Bull....

I do not really recall too many with short thirds, it turns out this bull probably has the shortest of any I saw, to be honest, I only looked at his fourths and fifths and realized it was a bull that I would like to take... I did see many bulls with one side being great and the other side being much smaller (not broken). I also seen many palmated bulls. Redman

    Unit 32

That is sad news, a friend of mine called Mercer right when the draw results were out and was told they were not allowing access this year, they did not tell him about the outfitter..... Good Luck Redman

    Unit 32

32 has been harder and harder to get access, I have not hunted there in a few years, I know this sounds like a cop out, but I would start with the hunt unit reports from the Game and Fish and get off the road a few miles...... Redman
