My pair of pronghorns purchased in Sept are trashed. They have been worn in the filed for approximately 20 days this year, I will be testing how good the Danner warranty is after Jan. Redman

Redman My son and I have returned from his first hunt. Same "undesired" coues unit, same desired results. My son is 10 years old and shot a nice 3x3. He connected on his second shot at 150 yds. What a trooper, he never complained about the hills, the cold, just a little about the stickers. He also did not know what to think about the gutting process..... a quote from him " I play my Xbox and I have shot many things, but I never see real blood, I guess I really killed him"... I think he now realizes what death is.. Boy, to all you fathers, mothers, uncles, friends, etc who have taken a kid hunting..... you deserve a lot of credit..... I hope your rewards are as great as mine. I would also like to thank all the folks who teach the hunter safety course (by the way who are volunteers), the Sportsman's Warehouse (for hosting the class), and the Game and Fish folks for putting on the hunter safety class. Redman/Redman Jr.

For me, I got a 33/37B archery pig tag and a later unit 1 gobbler tag...which after last year I am getting into turkey hunting. My son got the general 33 pig tag.. Redman

Thanks for all the replies, my son is surprised how many people replied and viewed this topic. He really wants his picture up at Sportsman's. Younghunter, you are correct. I think of it as a down payment. I have already told him he owes me 1 deer pack out and gutting. Hopefully we can run that number up to 4 or 5 in the next few hunts before he is self sufficient. Not too mention the camp setup and tear down..... The normal phrase is take a kid hunting...but for all you 25-40 year olds, the saying can also be "take your dad hunting" ... Redman

They did more than clean house, they cleaned the yard, shed, and painted the house!! That first buck is awesome. Redman

That is a nice buck, great job, I'm sure that won't be your last. Redman

Man that was just awesome. I would love to do that......at least until I am in the middle of it. Sleeping under a juniper without a bag? Now that is hard core..... I am glad your efforts paid off. Thanks for the pictures. Redman

Another rifle season has come and gone and I was lucky enough to harvest a buck. I had a great time in an "undesired" coues unit. I even and met a fellow cousewhitetail member and witnessed his kill shot (which was the best I've ever seen....congrats (did you finish your bottle). I had a great time with a couple of friends. A year is a long time to wait. At least in two weeks my son will go on his first coues hunt. Come on all you successful hunters share your photos. Redman

Ok, here is a question that I have been debating, Jumping Jack or the Fleetwood E2 (assume the price was the same)? Redman

Redman replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Thanks for sharing and the pictures were great. I would love to someday go on a Kodiak trip, would you do it again? Redman -
That is a nice buck, I wonder if it was coming down... I wonder what it would have looked like last year? Redman

That is a sweet deer, its almost freaky. Awesome Redman

Way to go Kade. Dad you must be proud. I hope my son can have the same experience in two weeks. Redman

Holy Moley! that is a nice buck. Congarts Cole you the MAN! Redman

Lets just say the odds of drawing that unit is better than others. I would pack up right now and go out there again (or any coues unit)! even if I was issued a tag that expires 3 hours after sun up! Not matter where, when or the conditions, there is nothing better than being on a hillside when the sun comes up! Redman

Couldnt't has said it better! I'll take any unit/hunt over nothing! Redman

My father in law suffers from COPD and has a CHAMP permit, his physician certified his disability. We will be road hunting tomorrow and hopefully Tuesday and/or Wednesday (he has a hard time going in consecutive days) It would be great for him to get a shot at a deer during this stage of his life, harvesting one would be awesome. If he wounds a deer, another hunter (me) can go finish the job (meaning track and shoot the deer). Bill I would encourage you to pick up the application from the game and fish and discuss with your physician if you have a hard time catching your breath. So for those of you who see a couple of hunters riding quads tomorrow stopping and glassing from the quads and hopefully shooting from a quad, wish us luck. This could be his last year to hunt. Biologist still differ on what to call the mule deer. Some still call it a black tail. I think its funny tht New Mexico uses yellow on their license plate Redman

One can buy a nice scalpel handle and 50-100 blades on Ebay for less than $20.00 Redman

That is a terrible idea and holds no merit. Hunting situations are TOTALLY different than shooting a pie at 40 yds, now maybe if the game and fish should require a archery safety and ethics course (on-line or in person) my opinion would be different. Its funny people brag about a 350-500 yds shot with a rifle and few seem to mind. I would bet more animals are lost during rifle season that archery season. Redman

My surgeon scalpel handle with replaceable blades, you will NOT find a sharper knife. Redman
