    2005 Fall Regs

I think the hunt fees are a joke. A bull tag for non-residents is only $405. With no quota for non-residents, I believe AZ residents are going to get put put. What happened to the proposal of different hunt fees for regular and quality hunts? Good luck everybody. Redman
  2. Greetings, I am going to purchase a new bow. I currently shoot a PSE which I bought used, and it's time to retire it, its 5-7 years old. I have been looking at PSE, AR, and Hoyt. I can spend around $600 ( I would like to get the bow, sight, and rest) Please help me decide (but please provide reasons.. Like I had a Hoyt, but found the AR to be better because....etc... not just PSE sucks..etc.) I like the fact PSE and AR can be serviced here and the folks at PSE have for the been good to me. Redman
  3. Anybody know what is the date the AZ hunt regs are published? Redman

    USO's latest

Anyway you look at it, the average Joe loses. The price to hunt will continue to go up and up. If AZ's new proposed hunt fees are approved and implemented, other states will follow. And it will be very difficult to hunt outside your resident state. Even residents are going to take it in the shorts. Take it from me, in a couple of years, I will be purchasing three tags for my family. Add it up, and I have the potential to spend thousands each year for me and my sons to hunt OR not to hunt. I know this thing is far from over. The sooner its decided who has the authority to manage the wildlife in a state (the state or federal government) this stuff is going to go one and one. More letters, more fabrications of the truth and more hunters will pay the price. What would happen if all states had to set hunt prices the same for resident and non-resident, with the same quota for resident and non-residents?? Redman

Which Brand and Model to Buy

Following up on my post, I purchased the AR34. I shot four differnt bows in my quest. All shot great, I really liked the Bowtech, but the price had alot to do with my choice. I got the AR for $250 less (bow only) plus customer service goes a long way with me. The folks at PSE are top notch (not that any other shops were not). Thanks for the help, Redman

    Fed up

.270 On the contrary, in some states you can hunt at night (Texas), but I get your point. I will agree with you on the ethics term, its debatable, but come on, hunting above an automatic feeder that goes off at a certain time of day from shack with a gun in a vise? That?s what we are talking about. It?s also legal to raise a deer in a pin, and then shoot it. THIS HAPPENS ALL TOO OFTEN, then the smucks take pictures with these deer like it was a feat or something, but is' legal, is it ok? or is it ethical? Anyhow, being the superior species on this planet allows us to take advantage over animals in one way or another and I forgot we can actually think?....I mean interpret what we feel is ethical or not. I stated my opinion on the subject and I will stick with it. That type of hunting listed in my previous post should be illegal. Redman

    Fed up

Watching those shows makes me say to myself "this is why people want to ban hunting?. I mean when ?hunters? sit in high blinds with electricity waiting for the automatic feeder to go off at 5:00 p.m. Then out come the animals and they are shot from a gun vise on a table. I have had many conversations with animal lovers at work and they and I agree that type of hunting should not be legal, but true sport hunting is fine (there are always extremes to all sides) Now putting up a treestand in the forest after scouting, that is sport hunting. Putting a treestand over a man made food plot (with heavy equipment) engineered to ?bring the animals? within shooting range is also unethical. Redman
  9. I had the prank of putting the nut sack behind the gas tank door of a few friends trucks. They would normally find them 2-3 days later. It was "good fun", until one night I got a call from my wife, she borrowed my truck and found a surprise. I could hardly settle her down. Let's just say I don't do that anymore. Redman

    AZ Hunt/Fish Fees

Dear Fatfootdoc "USO will have one less person to compete with for their guided whitetail hunts" As much as I hate USO, the the non-resident cap never applied to whitetail hunts" Redman

    AZ Hunt/Fish Fees

I would bet the prices will be 50% of the amount posted this year and the full price next year. Since the G&F is claiming they are losing $$ why would they wait???? Redman

    Spot and Stalk

I have never killed a deer with a bow, but I've had about 4 or 5 real good chances. I have never treestand hunted, only spot and stalk. I hunted for three seasons, two season hard, averageing at least 10-12 days in Jan. The one thing that has hurt me the most is the wind, second are does with a buck. I have found the most effective way, is to watch a buck bed down, then move in slowly out of sight wind in favor. The other method I have used and its worked to get close is to watch a deer go over a hill and bust butt up it and catch it before it goes to far down the other side. One would think getting up a hill fast would make to much noise, but if the wind is right they often the deer won't spoke. The thrid way, is to just get lucky, walk over a hill and there they are! AZ Jan Coues and Muley

Those are fantastic. Congrats, I wish I had the problem of waiting 334 days to hunt dear in AZ again. I bet there was a few "drinks" downed that night. The smiles on your buddy's face says it all! Redman
  17. Hey Scott, My Win 70 300 sm did the same thing once, never again. All I can say, is that ANYTIME you take a gun off safety. Make sure its pointed in a safe direction. Redman

    Rude hunters

I can sympathize with you, but if somebody is glassing off the side of the road, and if I intend to hunt there, I going to walk through that area. If your glassing right off the road (which I am not saying you were) you should expect somebody coming sooner or latter. I will not walk 300 yds and squat, I will walk over the ridge where the person is glassing and proceed. In some units, there are just too many dam roads, unit 32 is one. I agree with Rembrant, I make it a point to starting hiking at least 1 hour before sun up so this does not happen to me. Redman

    any one pig hunt

Finally arrowed a sow yesterday. I had shot and missed at three different pigs prior to this one. We ran into three differnt groups this hunt. Watch out for the heard in Bueman Canyon and the Bellota Ranch area, they can dodge arrows, one pig in 37B can also dodge an arrow. Redman

    I Hate Life!

CHD, Glad your sprits are up, I thought about your post this weekend while hunting. I was going to suggest taking out a new credit card and booking a Mexico hunt, then discharge it in bankruptcy, that would have to be better than killing yourself, when I first read your post I thought you were not serious, but then I thought what if? any one pig hunt

I busted a large heard today, I was walking in thick brush (in Bueman Canyon (33)spelling?) then they all started running everywhere, startled me. Took a shot at one about 20 yds and must have missed, called and called but never could find them again, then the rain started. Before this, I put a great stalk on a very nice buck, got within 50 yds, then a doe that I had not seen screamed at me. I almost stepped on her. The buck trotted away, called then the dang doe responded she came back within 10 yds of me? I have never had a doe responded to a buck call. Off again tomorrow hopefully the weather is better. 36c buck

Congratulations on a nice deer, A very similar thing happened to me. The night before I was going to leave on my hunt, a jerk broke into my father in law?s backyard and stole the quad I was going to borrow. Lucky for me, its good to have good friends. I was able to borrow a quad. The whole situation still sucked. The quad was found on Thursday, the guy who stole it drove it to Taco Bell and car jacked a lady in a Mercedes, I guess she was not injured. They later caught the creep. Now he has skipped his court appearance. REMEMBER HOMEOWNERS DOES NOT COVER QUADS! Redman

    December/January Rut

Hey PSEHunter, A word of advice, make sure you take the call out of your mouth BEFORE you draw back your bow. I called on in last year Jan to about 10 feet and when I let the string go, my call was in my mouth and hit the string. Redman

    A FEW COUES BUCKS

coozfever, Yeah its me, Redman. I did get a tag and lets say I got a little trigger happy and shot a 2x2 with decent eye guards in 32 on OPENING DAY. I still do not know what I was thinking. Not that it was a bad buck, but I had the entire hunt off to find a qualtiy deer and took a deer on the first day that I told myself all year I wasn't going to do. Oh well, they say you should never pass on a buck the first day, that you would love to shoot the last day? RIGHT?? Redman
