    online stores

Your absolutely right, beware of on-line stores. There is a lesson to be learned here, if the deal seems too good, then it is probably too good. Like Diamondbackaz said hotbuy is a grey market dealer. I called them and asked about their products and to their credit when I asked about warranty they said to get the USA warranty the price will be higher, they even state this on their website. Many of the optics companies dictate the price...that is why you always see Swaro's at the same minimum price. Now some companies may sweeten the deal by throwing in items like cleaning kits or tripod adapters etc but the price will still be the same. I feel bad for your friend, hopefully he do something with the item he did not want. Redman

    Boots

I have had Danner, Rocky, Orvis, Redhead, and numourous off brands. They all pretty much fall apart after one season. The Danners are nice since they have a one year warranty. I know I will be using it later after the season. Redman

    Lecia or Swarovski

That is the model I will choose for Lecia. I can get a pair from the Demo List offered by Cameraland for less than 10x42 Swaros. Thanks for the info. Redman

    MATTHEWS BOW RUMORS

They better, because their marketing machine has been quite for some time, no radical new designs, etc. The Mach x and the Velocity are the best on the market now. Redman

    MATTHEWS BOW RUMORS

WB = 2-3 less feet per second over a fall away. Not much. All rests have the limitations. Rip Cord= more moving parts = greater chance or error. Andy

    Found dog

Cool, I would suggest keeping quite and transfer the dog once you can. I wouldn't want the owner POS to have second thoughts and want to get the dog back. Scout now will have a better home. Redman

    ADVICE ON QUADS

Bill, Great questions, I have been pondering the same about a quad. I have bugged wklman about his quad and can't make up my mind. I would think miles and hours are two important factors. then immediate needs like tires, maintenance etc. I have been reading ATV trader, Ebay and the classifieds and you should expect to pay around $4,000-$4800 for a quad with <1000 Miles. I have no idea how many miles are too many. Ebay has many with free shipping from dealers with good prices. I have head a fuel injected quad will perform much better at high altitudes but the price goes way up. I will probably buy a new one and not worry about it breaking down or needing anything. Redman

    Colorado Bull

Yes, the terrain in CO is very challenging, were he lays is about 10000 ft., luckily I am in pretty good shape. Aspens on side and spruce on other side of the canyon, seems to be the common theme on the mountains. I put in well over 8 miles getting the shot, going back to camp to get my frame pack and lantern, then returning to camp to get more propane so I could track, going back to get my bow to finally finish him, then the pack out...... 24 hours total, 12 of it was tracking.... (it rains almost every night so I couldn't wait) Absolutely grueling. I would say Colorado offers great elk hunting, this was my second trip in two years (last year killed a cow) and truly enjoy it. There is PLENTY of area to hunt that is what a hunter wants to make of it. There is a crowd, but as in AZ the crowd dissipates the further you travel up the mountain. I plan to make this trip next year unless I get drawn in AZ. Redman

    Colorado Bull

This is the elk I was fortunate enough to take in CO. It was my third day hunting and I had been getting into the elk on a sporadic basis. I was walking along and saw two bulls one 6x7 and this 4x5 after a 40 yds stalk, I was running out of cover. I was hoping to get a shot at the 6x7 but with a cow 20 yds from me, I was pinned. When the smaller bull stepped out, I took a shot. All I heard was WACK sounded like I hit the tree and the bull took three steps and moved behind a tree. While trying to get another shot, they heard spooked and ran off. I was sure I missed because of the sound, but went to check the site and found foaming blood. Went back to camp and got my cousin and we began tracking (without his help I would of not found the bull)....(and would still be packing him out) a long night made short we found him and got him completely out 24 hours after the shot. I would like to stress the importance of checking the shot site. The 100 grain wac em broadhead went through him like a hot knife in butter. Redman

Colorado has OTC tags for cows and elk they have many seasons. Need to have hunter safety. Check Ebay also, I've seen hunts for sale. Redman
  18. Teach yourself or your kid to shoot faster. While realizing they have the same right to shoot as you or your kid do. Teach your kid that those things happen when hunting and be a good role model and find another deer. Redman

    Archery Tips

I am not sure how new you are to shooting a bow, but the best advice you can get is from an archery pro. There is a coach at PSE that gives shooting lessons. It is important to get proper form, anchor point and arrow release. Once you master these, groups at all distances will be better. Start with the basics. Watch the dead on videos, and remember, only you will know what your comfortable range is. If you review the pope and young records, animals are taken at all distances (7 - 90 yds). One of the best known bowhunters killed a coues at 69 yds. Redman

    String stretching?

Has your peep moved and/or has you knocking loop turned? If your knocking loop has turned then your string has stretched (which is normal to an extent). A peep moving up will also cause low shooting. Most new bows have poor strings. You should expect string stretch to slow down after a few hundred shots or, you can purchase a new string like Winners Choice or Zebra and not expect string stretch, but that also runs $50-70. Make sure your peep is not moving and give it a few more shots before replacing a string.... what brand is your bow? A stretched string can affect your shooting, cams become miss timed, knocking point changes, etc. Redman2002
